After a segment about Adam Lambert’s recent run-in with a pap on a Miami Beach was aired on the E! channel show, The Daily 10 last night, the male co-host, responding to the remote possibility that Adam could do jail time, tossed off this tasteless and homophobically-tinged bon mot:

“From what I know about jail, Mr. Lambert probably wouldn’t have too bad a time.”

Adam responded via twitter this morning:

"Who’s this new daily ten d bag?

There are times one has to put on their blinders, ignore, and think positively, but there are other times when it’s important to stand up for yourself.

It’s funny how some folks in the entertainment world echo the fearful ignorance of high school bullies. I suppose jealousy and poor tact are timeless.

We all know that Adam has said that he wants to be an entertainer and not a spokesperson for a cause. But his tweets today show that there are times that everyone has to speak up.

His tweets call out a wrong, and I think are a call to arms. We often wonder how we can support Adam and what he stands for, other than buying his music and attending concerts. This is how.

I was very disturbed by a report today (September 17, 2010) about Adam Lambert on the television show The Daily 10.

They discussed Adam's recent altercation with paparazzi in Florida, and in the course of their report, suggested that if Adam ended up going to jail, that he would like it. This is of course a reference to Adam's sexuality, with an implication that he would enjoy jail time, presumably because of the gay sex that takes place in prisons. It makes me sick to my stomach that the horrible issue of male-on-male prison rape is made light of in this fashion, and that because Adam is gay, he would take pleasure in such activity.

My sister and brother-in-law are police officers, and the issue of prison rape is very real and very disturbing. That The Daily 10 would make such a homophobic report is repulsive, and feeds into the unfortunate stereotypes of male homosexuals held by many Americans.

Following an incident Friday in Miami, it looks like a member of the paparazzi is making his best attempt at turning the legal system into a kangaroo court. In documents obtained by TMZ, the photographer who got into it on Thursday with "American Idol" singer Adam Lambert is now making an accusation of battery.

Why? In the photographer's words, Adam threw him to the ground "forcefully" after trying to grab at the camera. However, both the pictures and Adam's own Twitter account tell a completely different side to the story:

"Battery? Nope. I attempted to grab a camera, no punches were thrown and no one was on the ground.... It was literally harmless. If embarrassment is a crime- thats all I'm guilty of."

We have no evidence of there being any sort of actual violence in this case, and the worst thing Adam actually admits to doing in this case is "losing his temper."

Our friends at TMZ have learned ... the Miami Beach Police Department is now in the middle of a violent incident involving Adam Lambert ... after the alleged victim filed a police report.

Law enforcement sources tell us the paparazzo seen grappling with Lambert on the beach yesterday walked into a Miami Beach police station around 10:30 PM last night and filed a report ... accusing the singer of misdemeanor battery.

We're told the alleged victim claims he was "knocked to the ground" in a scuffle that occurred in front of a "large crowd."

Cops tell detectives will decide if the case is worth turning over to the State's Attorney -- who will decide whether to prosecute Lambert. If convicted, Lambert could face up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

After yesterday's clash -- Lambert went right to his Twitter account and posted, "I lost my temper for a sec but wow it felt great lol MIAMI!!!"

GLAM pop rock star Adam Lambert, one of the headlining acts performing at the Formula 1 SingTel Singapore Grand Prix later this month, loves the revving of fast cars.

Lambert is also due to play a concert at Putra Indoor Stadium, Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur on Oct 14.

“I’ve been driving a Ford Mus­­tang. But I’m kind of in the market to buy something else when I get back home at the end of the year, buy myself a birthday present. Something a little flashier, maybe like an Audi or a Maserati,” he says over the phone from Oklahoma City where he was on tour.

The 28-year-old made headlines last year as a hotly tipped contestant on television reality show American Idol who lost in the final to Kris Allen.

Still, the flashy Californian native with the multi-octave-range voice did well enough with his debut album, For Your Entertainment, which debuted at No.3 on the Billboard charts when it was released late last year.

All the fans want a piece of you. Do you ever get tired of the screams and all the attention?

I don’t get tired of it but at times I need to be away from it for my own sanity. You know, a normal person can take only so much of that. It’s very flattering but it can be too flattering at times. It’s very important for me to stay humble and for me to stay grounded and so, at some point, I have to get away from that.

What is the surest way for a fan to get your attention?

I think being polite, being understanding and being genuine is important. If I see somebody who is truly just showing love and appreciation, I recognise that, it’s really beautiful. There is a big difference between a fan who is genuinely showing appreciation and a fan who needs something from you for his own validation. It’s a fine line.

Do you read what people are saying about you on Twitter, in blogs and in online forums?

I definitely follow Twitter, I like to scan things people are saying and I definitely take note of what the fans are enjoying and what they respond to. It’s really important, like market research. It’s important for me to know what my fans want to hear and how they want to be entertained. I receive fan mail from time to time but I don’t really check out message boards on websites too often, though.

How much control do you have over your looks and what you wear?

I am fortunate enough to work with a stylist, Trish Summerville, and she is excellent but it is definitely a team effort. I have a lot of ideas, and she and I came up with a bunch of different looks. Ultimately, I have total control over what I wear. I make the final call, so that’s nice.

I love fashion and playing dress-up, and she brought a lot of amazing ideas to the table. I also have a big part in dressing the dancers as well as the band.

Do you think that your career would have been any different if you had won American Idol?

I think that it would be pretty much the same thing. The whole point of American Idol was not, in my opinion, necessarily winning first or second or third place, it’s just to get yourself out there and that’s what it did for me. People don’t realise we get the same type of deal, with the same type of producers and record labels, whether you’re the winner or the runner-up; it’s kind of the same situation.

Some people are saying that this year’s American Idol has not been very exciting compared to past seasons. Do you agree?

Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but I think the type of talent in this year’s season was more of an organic, singer-songwriter talent which is different, as the show was often filled with show-stoppers and theatrics. So it might not seem as exciting but there was definitely a lot of musicality. – The Straits Times, Singapore/Asia News Network.

When Adam Lambert uses Twitter to share his opinions on a given topic, thousands of fans tend to listen. This time around, the "American Idol" singer is touching on a topic sure to empower men around the world -- whether or not it is okay for them to wear makeup:

"I read a comment recently: 'eww men aren't supposed to wear makeup!' is there some rulebook somewhere I didn't get a copy of? Ha! I say do whatever the [expletive] makes u happy and expresses who you are! I make my own rules."

Although there may be some people who disagree with Adam's stance on aesthetics, he has opened the door for men of all backgrounds and sexualities to be free to express themselves in ways never before thought possible. In a way, he has also enabled more performers of his style to enter the public consciousness.
