  1. Sorry, never heard of Diamond Rings. Personally I don't think of Jake Shears as Glam, but he is a hoot! I'd give his place to Michael Jackson, his costumes on stage and in his videos were definitely in the Top 5 !.....JAK
We know Adam's a cool dude!

  2. @JAK Michael Jackson never inspired me as sexy person.
As a matter of fact his latest image is absolutely perfect for Haloween night. Sorry, MJ! You know that this is the truth.

  3. I never found him sexy, in fact quite asexual, but he had a wild wardrobe!....JAK

  4. Why do they always say Freddie Mercury (Queen)? Does anybody else in rock history has this name? Oh, sorry, I forgot! Freddie Mercury name was forbidden in US after his brilliant phrase "I am gay as daffodil, darling"

  5. Not a fan of Michael Jackson. Adam and Freddie are definitely GLAM .... MWAH!

  6. I agree with those 5. How about Boy George too?

  7. @11:53PM Boy George is very different . But we can't put him even in top 100 as a falmboyant singer who drives crazy any human spieces.

  8. I really don't know much about David Bowie so can't really comment on him. I would not say Freddie was glam, flamboyant yes, but glam no. i think Jake Shears is great, but again not glam. Don't know the last person or even of they're male or female....MJ, sorry JAK, nope.
Glam would be more of the glam rockers of the 70's like slade, Garry Glitter maybe, or the 80's groups with their great clothes and gorgeous makeup i.e Adam Ant, Boy George, Duran Duran.

  9. @12:04AM Do you know that when they say Queen this is mean Glam Rock? Their were one of the first glam rock band! It doesn't mean how much make up they put on their faces. As a matter of fact, Freddie put a lot of makeup in the early 70th. Look at him in Bohemian Rapsody or any live consert between 1970-1975! But tis doesn't mean that he wasn't glam rocker without makeup!

  14. @12.19am
yes I'm fully aware of who Queen are, being a Brit an all, I've known their music for many years. But personally I still don't think Freddies fits the definition of Glam..at least my definition.

  15. I guess I need a definition of "glam" because I don't quite understand what these five entertainers have in common. And who is Diamond Rings?

  19. THE ONLY GLAM ONE IS ADAM. NEVER HEARD OF DIAMOND RINGS, AND FREDDIE WASN'T GLAM JUST FLAMBOUYANT AND QUIRKY. NOPE DON'T AGREE ADAM SHOULD HAVE BEEN #1

  20. Diamond Rings was in a punk band before this and I get a lot of 80's vibe from his music. He has been getting good reviews for his new cd.

  21. Never heard of Diamond Rings. Am I missing something?

  22. I think Marc Bolan should have been on the list. Queen is categorized as a glam rock band. Freddie was glam in the glam rock era. Watch Killer Queen video for example. Later on when glam era was over, also Freddie changed his style.

  23. Couldn't have ranked them any better.

  24. Diamond Rings is fabulous. And Canadian! I hope to catch him in Toronto in November. Watch his new song video, first one listed below. His voice reminds me of a young David Byrne.

  25. @9:25PM Thank for reminding, dear. I forgot that "Killer Queen" was one of the best glam music video. Also, I would include "It's A Hard Life" and Made in Heaven.
Highly recommend to watch these three music video, ladies. Belive me their are awesome!

  27. @choons - thanks so much for the links to Diamond Rings and I agree with you - fabulous. In the first one I got a David Bowie voice vibe, Sauli's hair and Grace Jones clothes and stance! Really loved the 2nd one "It's My Party". When I have more time will watch them all. Coming to LA in Nov. but wont have anyone to go with - bummer. . . . Adamluv

  28. For all his strange-ness MJ perfected music videos. His were high quality mini movies. I was not a fan during those days, too busy with daily life, but since I gave in 3 years ago and bought a computer, I have been playing 'catch up' on 70's-80's-90's music. I'm a pretty good student...have held my own with my kid's (all 50ish) at Rock and Roll Trivia game. They lived the bands, I'm just discovering them.

My mp3 is filled with Journey, Moody Blues, The Eagles, Aerosmith,
Rod Stewart. The Stones, Zombies, etc. Better late than never!...JAK

P.S. I remember an interview where Michael Jackson said one of his prized possessions was a fan letter he received from Fred Astaire! No too shabby!

  29. That not too shabby! goofed

  31. JAK @ 3:45 - I have all the groups you named on CD! Bought them at the time they were big - and also because my teenage kids were totally into them - and still love them to this day. Have to admit tho that, since I fell in love with Adam, he's pretty much ALL I listen to now. Just can't seem to tear myself away. In fact, just replayed GNT CD today. I've got the Adam bug bad - and that's a good thing!
