Just watched a few Divas videos; Adam's opening act was pretty spectacular. The stage setting is excellent; however the sound seems muffled so Adam's vocals are not showcased to its maximum; could have been the videoing. Still, Adam's ultra-high note was glorious. The show will have more punch, live, due to it's greater focus on the stage than on vocals. Especially in the case of Adam, once the vocals are missed somewhat, the show will not get its maximum impact. I haven't seen the other videos, but at this moment seems to miss Adam as a rockstar; a sort of subdued Adam who we know is born to be wild! With all the cameras clicking away...not too bad for publicity. Adam and Sauli look calm and collected and less self-conscious...augurs well for their relationship. :)
Leila is a beautiful woman and proud, loving mother. Daneille has been Adam's closest friend since highschool with the exception now of Sauli, who is Adam's much loved partner. Adam is very deserving of such loyalty and love and he is fortunate in this business to have such quality people and family around him. Elvis and MJ might have survived the pitfalls of fame if they had that same real, love and support, instead of opportunists. Adam is indeed blessed.
Taking in all the interesting remarks. IMO Adam did a fabulous job hosting. The opening skit set a tone. I loved the energy of the show throughout. It was advertised as a dance party and delivered. I also kept in mind that Adam did not hire the artists nor produce the show. His function as host and entertainer delivered. This was not the Adam Lambert show yet he had a very big job to do and I believe he nailed it. The Dark Side
I didn't like the Ray of Light performance. The music arrangement was off and Adam's voice wasn't that good at the beginning part of the song. But overall Adam was fabulous on the show. Love his hosting a lot!

I read 2 reviews because it's late, 2 articles that was after the shows . They were absolutely glowing, about ray of light 2. I read on vh1 they said he was a complete sweetheart, so kind to his Dancer's and soundsn when he ask him to adjust the sound! That was the problem at top of that song! If you noticed u could not hear that one lady on the stairs at first at all just barely, on the sommers song, right at first of song! It was sound problem! Also vh1 article said Adam did so well may have to give him a whole show next year himself! Adam did great job on all of it loved it, I sure be some trolls comming down that what they are! Also said he performive than any host ever! One said he hosted with Ryan S. type ease! I personally thought he was fabulous! On everything period! "Ray of Light" of all of Madonna's songs was the best choice for Adam to sing, IMHO, because of its significance to Madonna and Adam who I think have its meaning of Enlightenment and Oneness with the Universe in common, hence, Adam's high-priest seeming robe. This is one of Madonna's lesser known but better songs, and she was right to have chosen Adam to showcase it. A little sound-glitching imp tried to catch Adam in the beginning, but Adam, ever the trouper, got the best of the situation and finished the song with impeccable vocals. I thoroughly enjoyed the opening skit with Nene, who was also fabulous as it showed Adam's comedic chops, which I think, has enormous possibilities; there is no one who can do this "diva" schtick as well as Adam and be hilarious. I was so proud of this new track into Adam's many talents. I was happy to see Adam try his wings in this part of showbiz, and want to give him a big, warm hug for this Diva job. His part on the show were the best ones, I thought, and though I know it was a party show to showcase the "divas", it just whetted my appetite for more of Adam on tv. I predict this is a stairstep to perhaps a show where he'll be the focus, as in an SNL show where he can have way more face time. Now, that's done, back to the drawing board where we root, vote, support Adam in his next adventure. Whew! By the way, Adam, could we see more of you au naturel next time? I miss the fierce innocent look. Nevertheless, Bravo and Encore, Adam. Love you. atm

This lady knows what she's talking about, and from all other professional accounts Adam did bring the house down with this performance. It amazes me how people who were not there and only saw this show via video can be so critical, obviously the sound is not going to be as good as if being their live, and to constantly go criticising the start of this song is ridiculous. Adam's job was to do this song justice on behalf of Madonna and for that he deserves full marks.
Yea, so what's with this sound system problem; I remember it was the same reason given at Adam's spectacular AMA performance when most people thought his vocals were 'off'. Well, as usual, I knew it couldn't be because Adam always hits and nails his notes pinpoint. Looking at the Diva stage setting...they did put in great effort, impressive; so why even be a little let down by sound system problem. Hire the best sound technicians and make sure the sound system is the best there is otherwise the whole show is affected adversely as this is a 100% music show which demands 100% perfect sound. So much effort on the stage decor, the singers, artists and let a vital component not be completely in control. But I think the live audience would not have detected it as starkly as the viewers; it'll definitely be quite sharp at the actual place. But don't forget a lot more people are watching it as viewers rather than as live audience. Moreover, Adam's appeal is worldwide, the more his recorded live shows have to be impeccable. Agree, let Adam do the whole show, select the artists, fashions, songs etc. Bottom-line, Adam seldom or never performs below par so I think the reviews are completely right on that...in any case the stage is actually his playground; he's a natural there.
Ray Of Light is not to everyone's liking, I personally love the song and was blown away with Adam's performance and I'm sure Madonna would agree with me, that's why she asked if Adam could perform the song for her and I'm not surprised, it's a difficult song to sing but he truly did it justice, he's a true professional.

Whooeee! What a night! Some thoughts: First, we NEVER see Adam and Sauli in any kind of kiss situation, but this one is SOOO sexy, just that little peck on the temple. Sauli looks SO cute, it hurts. And Adam looks his normal fabulous self. I thought I'd want him clean-shaven, but the scruff looked fine for me. After more viewings, I really thought he did great on Ray of Light. It's not a "belting" song, and its melody is kind of subdued. NOT easy to sing, esp.for a male voice on a diva/glory note type show. It was in a lower register and I think he got his stride after some sound confusion. GREAT JOB! I didn't know what to make of the big Russion robe thing. I thought it looked too weird at first, but actually it very dramatic. Just what Adam wants. Heard it has Russian sayings on it. Adam will ALWAYS surprise us. He pulled it off. His comic skit moments were really good. He has good timing and facial expresssions. Hope he gets to do much more of this!
Madonna's ROL is my fav. song. I love love this song so much.
The problem with last night's performance was the musical arrangement of this song. When it started I couldn't recognize it and then as it went on I cringed like oh no that ain't good. Madonna's live performance of this song isn't at good as its recording. I can listen to ROL recording forever. But the live performance of it has never been good.
Yes I read some of that lady night, and it was late they were comming in, I watched this show only and I mean only because of Adam, never watched before more than ten minutes. He did a fabulous job, and I think it will lead to a lot of good things. The negative stuff is rediculous. Do you have any idea how hard what he did was, Madonna wanted Adam to do her song, probably was very proud if she was not she's nuts! Adam couldn't hear himself at first In Ray pf Light. From my 4th row seat at the Divas show, I can tell you that he was pretty darn amazing. I loved Ray of Light. And everything else he did. And was rather stunned to see him at the after party, along with the band, his friends and family.
Danielle has been there through all the opportunists and continues to do so. Leila looks beautiful with the longer hair and she looks so much younger now. Adam has her face.

And Adam looks his normal fabulous self. I thought I'd want him clean-shaven, but the scruff looked fine for me. After more viewings, I really thought he did great on Ray of Light. It's not a "belting" song, and its melody is kind of subdued. NOT easy to sing, esp.for a male voice on a diva/glory note type show. It was in a lower register and I think he got his stride after some sound confusion. GREAT JOB! I didn't know what to make of the big Russion robe thing. I thought it looked too weird at first, but actually it very dramatic. Just what Adam wants. Heard it has Russian sayings on it. Adam will ALWAYS surprise us. He pulled it off. His comic skit moments were really good. He has good timing and facial expresssions. Hope he gets to do much more of this!

ReplyDeleteThe problem with last night's performance was the musical arrangement of this song. When it started I couldn't recognize it and then as it went on I cringed like oh no that ain't good. Madonna's live performance of this song isn't at good as its recording. I can listen to ROL recording forever. But the live performance of it has never been good.

ReplyDeleteYes I read some of that lady night, and it was late they were comming in, I watched this show only and I mean only because of Adam, never watched before more than ten minutes. He did a fabulous job, and I think it will lead to a lot of good things. The negative stuff is rediculous. Do you have any idea how hard what he did was, Madonna wanted Adam to do her song, probably was very proud if she was not she's nuts! A few little sound proems big deal he was not only one that had that! Adam was just wonderful, I enjoyed it so and that comic skit was wonderful watched it and watched it and after I go to the dr. Will watch some more, is there anything Adam cannot do! You can bet lots of people were there for Adam. Adam was wonderful, loved every bit of the show! Mostly Adams parts. Sue
ReplyDeleteAdam couldn't hear himself at first In Ray pf Light. From my 4th row seat at the Divas show, I can tell you that he was pretty darn amazing. I loved Ray of Light. And everything else he did. And was rather stunned to see him at the after party, along with the band, his friends and family.
