  18. VERY interesting article: Mentions Adam Lambert for Idol judge position: This is an in-depth article but here are a couple of paragraphs. Read the whole article. It sounds like they are definitely planning to re-vamp it......which they must in order to stay relevant to today's TV viewing audience.

"‘American Idol’ at a crossroads: Next season to bring fresh judges, many changes" via Fox News

    Excerpts from the article:

"The 12th season of FOX’s famed “American Idol” wrapped on Thursday night, and although the most recent “Idol” installment brought new judges, talented contestants and some twists, the next season of the show may see even more changes.
The reality singing competition has endured a perpetual ratings decline in recent years, hitting an all time low this season. So what’s next for the once biggest show on television?"

    The Idol Dream Team:
"So who could and should make up the “American Idol” dream team judging panel for season 13?
“Ben Folds (poach him from ‘The Sing Off,’ he is amazing and deserves to be on a bigger show), and Adam Lambert,” Parker suggested. “And get an industry person – whether it is a journalist, A&R person, producer, manager etc. Someone who knows what they are talking about and isn’t a celebrity just using the show to promote their other projects.”"

MUCH more is said,..but loving that Adam was mentioned..........

  21. whoever is going to be a judge on AI should know soon, don't they start auditions in July? Adam would be great but for some reson I am not getting my hopes up they are going to pick him.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The first auditions don't include the judges. Last year they didn't announce judges until the fall.

With only 3 judges next year adam has even less chance to get picked.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I doubt 3 judges instead of 4 lessens Adam's chances. Most likely to be 2 men anyway. Idol's history of getting 2 women that work well together is very poor.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I kind of like it when they have four judges.

    ReplyDelete
  25. don't forget the panel has to be deverse. I don't think a panel of three is going to have both KU and AL.

  26. does anyone know it the views on a playlist count when viewing videos on UTube. I see alot of playlists on the duet video but don't know if they really count. Don't want to waste my time if they don't count.

That is true. I think they want an industry exec, a recognizable pop star to the younger demo, and a non white person among the three, plus a woman. If they keep Keith for the country crowd then there is no room for adam

    ReplyDelete
  31. we stressed so much last year hoping that Adam would be chosen as a judge..and apparently he was on a short list...if they hire that little twerp Justin, I will not watch the show..Adam would make the best judge they could ever imagine.. but..I will not stress out this time by getting my hopes up..as for the OK devastation..I cannot even conceive of the misery this has brought upon these people..my heart hurts for them...

    ReplyDelete
  32. Lol I don't think they can afford Justin. Plus he is such a mess these days and would really turn off the older crowd.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @3:10 - you bring up a hella notion..they could get Adam for a fraction of the massive payouts given to no-talent Nicki and the diva..

  36. OT: O.K my loving glamberts. Remember how the infamous performance adam gave well, IMO Nicki minagi topped that at the billboards awards last night. Just sayin! Can't even believe I watched (it's all about manufactured sales and all the hoopla that the kids soak up00 Anyway, I even thought she was disgusting and many blogs are voices their opinion. The sad truth is Adam is so tlented . nickin m is a joke and is not and won the award for best rap artist. Just don't understand the horrible music industry today- so sad!

    Hi Glampal!
I´m from Finland and Adam´s music plays here equally on many channels between national and international singers and hitmakers, I´m very proud of it.
It has been same way since first single FYE, and of course more last couple of years. Our radiohosts are doing good. Today by the way I´ve heard none.
    Have a nice day!

  50. And another interesting article from New York Magazine, about the possibility that American Idol may include one or more successful former Idol contestants next season on the judges panel:

Fox Is Considering a Plan to Have Former American Idols Judge Next Season
    By Josef Adalian

Quotes from the article: (Full article link below..)

"There's a very real chance the next American Idol will be judged by a panel of former American Idols. As Fox and the production companies behind the struggling (yet still high-rated) singing show ponder changes for the 2014 edition, two people with knowledge of the situation tell Vulture that serious consideration is being given to the idea of filling one, and very possibly all, of the slots on the show's judging panel with former Idol contestants. These sources say Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson have already been approached about the idea, and that the names of ADAM LAMBERT and Clay Aiken are also under discussion."

"It's important to emphasize that we have not been able to confirm that Fox and production companies FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment have made a final decision to go with an all-alumni panel for season thirteen. "

"Fox boss Kevin Reilly, when asked last week about the future of the panel, told reporters that "everything is on the table." "

"As they always do during Idol Speculation Season, Fox publicity declined to comment. If an all-alum panel becomes a reality, the thinking behind the idea seems pretty solid: After several seasons in which Fox shelled out crazy money for singing superstars for whom Idol often seemed to be just part of a larger publicity tour, bringing back former contestants sounds like a good way to reconnect the show with its roots (and a core audience that might have been turned off by all the carpetbaggers passing judgement). "

"Fox insiders have long insisted Idol's success wasn't because of Simon Cowell or any of the judges, but because viewers loved watching real people transform into superstars. Welcoming some of those superstars home might be a good way to get former Idol viewers to return as well."
