Nice surprise. Sounds like fun. Darren has a good voice...I wish him success. That's a clever marketing device..... including, and advertising to Glamberts, a duet with Adam! I wonder if it will be a "stock" Xmas song...or an original one....by Darren or Darren AND Adam? Wonder if there are any other "guests" on the album? At the risk of being "crass", I assume Adam will get a "cut" from the album. Not that he needs it at the moment. But I'm buying the Album just for Adam's contribution!...and for posterity!

I'm surprised this is the first we've heard of it. But Adam is always full of surprises! I wonder what else he's been up to that we don't know about yet. He has a lot of energy and drive! He's turning into a good businessman, and he's also getting better about keeping secrets! heh heh

Just hope that he stays safe and healthy! Covid has the capability of permanently ruining his voice!....and breaking our hearts!

Nanbert, the album is already in the works, with the full setlist already posted, and marketed with Adam's name prominently displayed. And it's a duet with Darren Criss.

I don't think Adam's name is included just to get our attention. He's a big name to be honest and he and Darren are friends.

It's all good!

Well, this is a very nice surprise! Very cool that Adam and Darren have teamed up or a duet. They seem to be friends. Just from the title, the song sounds very fun.

Here's another article about the album and an Adam mention.

glitzylady....I already assumed the album was a "done deal", since it was available for ordering at midnight. However, surely you don't believe that Darren's "people" don't consider having Adam's name/voice on the album a good "selling point" when announcing the album's release?...to attract Adam's fans? Just as the other celebrities Darren has duets with? It's just good business. It would be the same if the situations were reversed...i.e. Darren in a duet with Adam on one of Adam's albums...to attract Darren's fans. Just good business.

It's also "good business" for Adam....more exposure. Similar situation with Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cinderella" album having songs with Adam...and Sarah Brightman...as guest artists. It draws in fans from different "fandoms"...and is mutually advantageous. Just good business.

Well well never in my dreams had I imagine this sneaky surprise! I wish Adam would record an album of Holiday Music, but thinking he’s Jewish he might not. Haha. Looking forward in hearing the whole song. :)

No worries about the religious aspect, Sunflower. To me there are 2 ways to approach Xmas. I'm not familiar with all the lyrics to "(Everybody's Waitin' For) The Man with the Bag" but I don't think it's about religion. Actually none of the songs on this album appear to be religious. That's a selling point for me. All that said Adam has done religious songs. There are a lot of beautiful religious songs, I like them, and Adam is an excellent choice for singing them. Like you I want a Holiday Music album from Adam.

Sunflower and Patria....like you, I would love to to have a Christmas Album by Adam... but ONLY of the gorgeous religious songs we all know and love. I'm NOT remotely interested in hearing him sing "I saw Mama kissing Santa Claus"....but the very thought of his voice soaring over "O, Holy Night" gives me goosebumps! I'm not religious, but much of that music is so breathtaking and classic when sung by an extraordinary voice like Adam's.

Adam actually did a very brief acapella snippet of "O Holy Night" (oh my!) during a chat or interview, and added the remark "beautiful song" afterwards ....but has often made it clear that he finds it inappropriate for him to sing those Christian religious Christmas songs, because of his Jewish upbringing. I understand his decision....but lament it.

Just a comment about Adam not singing Christian Christmas songs.. I suspect he may soften his thoughts on that one day. Whatever works for him is fine.. But I do have to say that from time to time we see singers with a Jewish background do Christmas albums. Perhaps mostly non-religious songs but Christmas songs nonetheless. Barbara Streisand, Neil Diamond, Idina Menzel, and so many more over the years. Songs written by Jewish song/music writers, and singers. Neil Diamond has several Christmas albums containing both secular and religious ie Christian songs.

I too would love to hear Adam sing O Holy Night... It would be incredible.

Maybe someday.......

It's part of my being a fan to automatically go along with any suggestion that Adam put out another album. I'm never choosey about the theme. If anyone says they would like Adam to do a ______ album I'll say me too.

No one you mentioned gltzylady is both Jew and gay. Adam has an on going challenge of being openly gay from the start that never ends. To many interviewers like to bring it up. A christmas album would most likely put him in a position of having to constantly explain why a gay Jew is singing christian songs. If he can avoid any hurdles he doesn't have to jump over I would encourage him to avoid them. There's plenty of work available for his talents and I will always support his choices.

Lol, Nanbert . I also hope to never hear him sing jingle bells or rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

LOL I agree, no way do I want Adam to sing the songs you mentioned Patria and Nanbert! “Oh Holy Night” is fine with me too, love it too. It’s true Glitzylady about Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand and others. Adam could include that Eagles’s song he recorded in 2019 and that song he sang on that Disney Holiday Special, gosh I can’t believe myself at this moment I don’t remember the titles. Arrrgh. Too lazy to look them up right now. Wait is “I’ll be Home for Christmas “ one of them? Or “Please Come Home for Christmas “, is that the other one? Eh, I check later.

Nanbert said...

haha, Patria, I'm not sure what being gay has to do with singing Christian songs. But I agree that hearing Adam sing "Jingle Bells" or "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Raindeer" is NOT on my Bucket List either.

The thought of endless Christmas music is sounding better.
