As Queen prepares for a tour
that will find them appearing with Adam Lambert for the first time in
the U.S., and in Australia for the first time in any configuration since
1985, they admit to a few revelations.
“I’ve forgotten,” drummer Roger Taylor tells Sunday Night on 7, “what a heavy, heavy rock band Queen was.” Guitarist Brian May adds: “We were quite good.”
Then there’s Lambert, who is stepping in for Queen’s legendary
frontman Freddie Mercury. The ex-Idol finalist says he’s studied Mercury
through vintage recordings,
and worked hard to put his own stamp on these familiar songs. “I listen
to him, and I’m like: ‘Ooo, I want to give it more power like he did,’”
says Lambert, who’s been appearing off and on with Queen since 2009.
In the end, Taylor and May agree that Lambert has given the band,
which formed in 1970, a jolt of energy. “The power of youth is –,” May
begins, then shakes his head, before Taylor quips: “Yes, we drink his
blood daily.”
The long-awaited North American leg
of Queen’s tour kicks off in Chicago later this month. They head to
Australia in August. Queen will also be playing South Korea and Japan.

Hey Roger, did you by any chance come across my Glampire poems/stories. Mmm, I have a butler in my Glampire poem; a handsome man who keeps Glampire's mansion spick and span and prepares his bloody meals. lol! I've got a name for him now; Roger. lol!
When Adam sings Ughh! in ACLTCL, my heart skipped and I did a quick soft clap. Adam's voice suits this song...sexy tenor.

I watched Freddie/Queen version of ACLTCL and yes QueenBert gave them a run for the money. Freddie played his guitar as he sang and that gave Queen band a thicker, grander sound; that's what I heard. QueenBert band is just as powerful and Adam's voice and dance moves compensate for that thicker more wholesome Queen band sound. So all in 9.9 for both Freddie and Adam in their performances; cannot give 10, I'm a bit stingy with marks. lol!

Hello Examiner! Happy to see your name. How is it going...I wrote at Examiner for a year and a half before I landed myself here. The panel of writers there was very nice and understanding; they published all my comments; my first comment by Matt Carter; I thought it would not be published because I wrote something about an unfairness towards Adam. Also got to know a few others in the panel as well. There was a change in formatting and I found it hard to navigate otherwise I would have carried on there.

ReplyDeleteI read this as two levels in meaning. First Adam is very impressed by the compositions/power of the Queen songs.
The second which is my own take is, the literal power of his voice to project the songs in his singing.

Furthermore please remember this is a short news article based on a snippet of this coming interview that has not been shown/aired yet. So that Adam quote may have been taken out of context...
I'm thinking he is talking about the time when he as a young boy listened to Queen records and wanted to give his singing more power... just like Freddie did...
Sorry, above... the comment slipped away too fast....meant to finish that in any case whether Adam was talking about his studying of Queen songs from his younger days or from this year (for the coming rehearsals and the tour), the quote should be complete... which the headline of this thread does not give.

Click clog click clog...the carriage harnessed by two white horses wound around the hill-road; willow branches drooping down by the stream. Werewolves howled as Glampire turned the bend towards his antique vampire mansion. Suddenly, he noticed a figure in a white suit by the stream. He looked familiar...yes it was his butler, Roger. But why was Roger waiting for him so far out the mansion; he usually waited for him to sound the solitary Doong! of the mansion door. Glampire stopped the carriage and Butler Roger got up. He looked a bit nervous and stammered, that there was a white python curled around the willow tree just behind the mansion.
ReplyDeleteThe first thought that came to Glampire's mind was Dracula who was always trying to suck his blood; lol! but so far, had not succeeded even with all the evil attempts, due to Glampire's powerful skull-laser-ring which Dracula could never get past.
When they finally reached their vampire lair er home, Butler Roger took Glampire to where the white python was; yes a beautiful white snake curled around the willow tree, half dangling. Glampire being an animal lover, told Roger to just leave it and they got back into their vampire mansion. Butler Roger who always had his master's back was still feeling anxious and double bolted all the doors.
Butler had prepared a bloody fine beef stew. Glampire did not like eating alone and so Butler accompanied him at the long rosewood table, to share the meal. Roger especially enjoyed Glampire's special horny concoction and often referred to it as drinking Glampire's blood every day. lol! They were feeling a bit tipsy after downing several glasses of the surreal concoction.
And then the familiar doorbell sounded a sultry Doong! Butler went and opened the door and lo and behold...a demure lady dressed in a semi-transparent white gown asked to see Glampire. Roger invited her in and Glampire stood up and gentlemanly invited the demure lady to sit at table. She introduced herself as Lily White Snake. Glampire quickly stepped back and suspected this was Dracula in one of his shape-shifted disguises.
Lily White Snake said she was the white python on the willow tree they saw earlier on as she too was a shape-shifter.
Glampire and Roger froze, agog at the revelation; but somehow, she did not exude evil nor fear. In fact she looked beautiful in the full moonlight streaming through the tall stained glass windows.
Lily White Snake said she had waited to meet Glampire for a long time; and whenever he passed by the stream, she ogled at him; especially when his silver-blond hair glistened in the halo of the full moon, accentuating his prominent nose profile....oooh-la-la.
At this point, Lily White Snake looked depressed and confessed she was a vampire under Dracula's hypnotism. Almost in tears, she bade Glampire farewell and said meeting him was the best thing that ever happened to her. Slowly, she turned back into a white python and slithered out the front door. At once a fury of werewolf howls echoed atop the mountain, Dracula's lair; they seemed to have noticed the White Snake's absence.
Glampire stared at Butler Roger who quickly downed a glass of Glampire's blood to calm his nerves. Actually it's Glampire's special horny red wine not blood. lwl!

ReplyDeleteYou know what I'm really tired that no one ever mentions that they are coming to Canada. What are we??? Invisible. All of the venues are sold out, I personally am going to Montreal to see them on July 14. Pretty certain I'm still in my own country and it's legit!!! Sorry just had to get this off my chest.

Btw, we have at least one Canadian here regularly (greetings @Canadian!) but there have been many wonderful Canadians on this site during these Adam Lambert years. Wonder where are they now?!?
Sometimes this site is way too US centered...Adam is so loved internationally, this should be remembered by all visiting and commenting here!
When QUEEN (or their fans) refer to their North American Tour, they are including the USA AND CANADA. No reason to feel slighted.

I hope you enjoy your concert I will be thinking of all you great CanQueenberts. I'll be seeing them July 12th and I hope we don't wear them out for you guys. Lol

ReplyDeleteButler Roger pinched himself hard; he wasn't sure if he was hallucinating after drinking Glampire's blood er horny red wine. lol! Glampire who had much experience with things supernatural had never seen a demure lady transform into a white snake right before him as he just did. But it was real to him; Lily White Snake then slithered into the undergrowth by the stream after shifting shape.
As they walked back into their vampire mansion, Glampire heard the familiar unmistakable clanging sound...yes Dracula was in the vicinity; perhaps looking for Lily White Snake. Glampire felt a little sad that Lily was under Dracula's unforgiving, relentless hypnotism. Glampire liked Lily's gentle demeanour and wished there was a way to release her of Dracula's deadly clasp.
Usually Dracula would fly up to the fifth floor of the mansion balcony with the intention of getting to Glampire. But this time, Dracula pulled up in his vintage carriage got out and walked sedately towards Glampire. Ooo-la-la, a face-off ! Dracula extended his hand to Glampire and they shook hands perhaps the first time, amidst their constant disputes. Actually, Dracula looked rather tall and handsome in his black cloak and his face, though smacked of evil was quite classic. But when he smiled, his fangs protruded. Glampire had knocked them off during their duels a couple of times using his skull-laser-ring but they seemed to have replenished. lol!
Dracula asked Glampire if he had seen a white snake; yes he was indeed looking for her. Glampire then pleaded to Dracula to let go of his hypnotism on her. Dracula's face suddenly turned from seemingly calm to ferocity. Immediately he swooped onto the fifth floor balcony. Glampire ran up the winding staircase to confront his deadly foe; instantly, directed his skull-laser-ring at Dracula's extended fangs. Lo and behold this time, it didn't work and soon Dracula was inches away from sinking his ghastly fangs into Glampire's neck.
Out of nowhere, Saulpire, Glampire's confidante shone an infrared beam at Dracula who, taken by surprise, withdrew his clasp on Glampire. Saulpire continued beaming his infrared into Dracula's eyes. Dracula knew he wouldn't be able to get to Glampire anyway, as that was his intent...fled the scene by jumping off the balcony. Smash wham bam! landed on his vintage carriage below. Werewolves atop the Dracula mountain lair howled, permeating the whole valley and willowy stream.
Glampire was so relieved to have been saved in the nick of time by none other than his best friend and confidante. Saulpire said it was Butler Roger whom he should thank; for it was he who had alerted him about an imminent Glampire Dracula face-off. Glampire and Saulpire walked down the winding staircase, their blue eyes meeting each other's; while Butler Roger laid out a delicious spread of bloody beef and horny red blood er wine. lwl!
Hey Kindred! I know you are in the forest dipping in the lake...care to say hello to Saulpire...he saves Glampire once again, in the nick of time. lwl!

I´m actually visiting our neighbour right now and I have to say this is really a big mansion and your Dracula character meets unexpectedly here a mysterious looking man living a few km away from our summer place. He dresses in an old-fashioned way and likes to wear long coats and black boots:).His eyes are really blue too, so your story fits my way again:). This evening I may listen to the distance, if I hear sounds of carriages and horses running fast along the road.:D!

ReplyDeleteYou are so funny lol! Wow! A Summer Place...that's a beautiful 60's theme song/movie. Kindred, your strange neighbour sure gives me scope for Part 3 Glampire Saulpire blue-eyes story. lol! Not sure yet but you just painted a very mysterious setting in my mind! If I should write Part 3, I'll entitle it Man in long coat at Summer Place. lol! So happy you are having a whale of a summer. Wow! Kindred, I was testing out to see if my telepathy could reach you in the forest and lo and behold, it can!! I really didn't expect your reply.
