Listening to Who Wants...is like a lasting intellectual challenge to me, I can't possibly refuse to muse on it, again, as you can't refuse to observe "a movable feast". When Brian and Roger decided that Adam would be their new frontman for their new era, they surely reflected upon his personality:imaginative, bold, pleasing in appearance, manners, behavior ... and upon his persona, a killer queen, also head-lined by Advocate, a perfect match , the best to sing some of Freddie's songs, Somebody..., Crazy... . But I think that even the Olympian-like, calm, serene, wise Brian May hadn't ever thought that our restless man would be able to sing, perfectly, some of his gems, written in the most vulnerable moments of his life, some of his most personal songs. And it is not only about vocal technique, it is also about being born "under the same sun", they feel sorrow, compassion, fear, harmony ...the same.
I know how many of us have gone on and on about Save Me (me especially haha)... But I just can't help it! That last "save me" note.... My lands. It's simply ELECTRIC. It just goes straight into your soul with such a tender bolt .... stirring your heart up. And as Adam gently and passionately holds out that soaring note.... You find yourself unconsciously holding your breath until the final "I'm naked and I'm far from home." is complete. What a Beauty.
Adam has a made a masterpiece out of that song, enhanced and fully realized it's beauty... and it's tender & transparent power to touch and to move.
WWTLF...... Mere words just don't do it any justice whatsoever. OMG!!!! Jet planes can't even take off as impressively as Adam's delivery of this. And what a pilot!!
.... And at Wembley to boot. YAY QAL. What a very very special night. :)))
