From liesangeles: Adam Lambert returns with a bonkers track

Excitement about Adam Lambert’s new music started back in January, when it was announced that he had signed a new record deal with Warner and had brought in pop aficionado Max Martin to helm his third studio album.
In case you’re not aware, Max responsible for several barrel loads of incredible pop songs over the past 20 years by the likes of Taylor Swift, Britney Spears, Backstreet Boys, Kelly Clarkson and Pink (click here to look at his full list of production work). And while the prospect of Adam teaming up with him is exciting enough, even better is that Ghost Town is as much a departure for Max as it is for Adam.

  7. Review of GT from Attitude Magazine

...It’s definitely unlike anything Adam’s ever done before. Gone are some of the more OTT glam rock moments of his previous two albums, replaced with a more understated, sophisticated – dare we say, cooler - sound...
...It’s an unusual hybrid – to make it a proper dance floor filler it’ll need a killer remix to lift the tempo on those (great) folky verses – but it’s certainly an uber-cool comeback with real hit potential...

@florabotanics Max's track record speaks for itself, but would def agree they have created something very special from what heard so far.

  11. Adam needs to do a rock album instead of stupid disposable dance garbage. His voice deserves proper backing music like Queen.

  15. @8:43 AM

If you have felt like that about all of Adam's past albums; how can you still be hanging around as a fan, or are you just a Queen fan and not an Adam fan at all??

As an Adam fan, I have loved all of Adam's albums; and also the Queen+Adam concerts; but, Adam is a solo artist; but enjoys guesting as frontman with Queen whenever it is possible for him to do so; I love him in all of the many musical facets that he adds that one in a Billion voice to.

    Bye now!!

I just thought I would suggest to you to just go to the Queen+Adam concerts if that makes you happy; and leave the "stupid, disposable dance, garbage music for those of us who love it!

  16. Respectfully meant.... I think that 8:43AM may not be a troll? And may actually have intended his/her comment with fairly high regard for Adam and his immense talent.

For me personally, I didn't detect reference to Adam's previous songs, per se...

Here's what I'm thinking: There's a fairly large segment of rock music lovers that don't appreciate pop & EDM as 'real' music (relative to rock & other "real" instrument genres) due to the synthisization & electronically created music sounds that are increasingly involved in the production of pop and R&B, EDM, etc, styles these days. I've found that this can be a sensitive subject among music purists. (& rock purists tend to be music purists many times). I suspect the possibility that 8:43AM may have been coming from that position in addition to his/her regard for Adam. Also could be a relatively new Adam fan (via his his collabs w/Queen, perhaps?) and attempted to share actual regard for Adam's talent & voice by commenting on how Adam's voice is such that it "deserves proper backing", such as the legendary Queen; so as to not "contaminate" or cheapen Adam's voice/talent with 8:43 considers to be common "garbage" pilfered through mainstream radio these days. Seems to me that a growing number of music lovers hold this opinion about today's mainstream" top 40 music. I personally believe we as Adam supporters want all types of fans to enjoy Adam... Even ones that hold those opinions. After all, we know that Adam is not your run-of-the-mill artist with his solo work... and we have been gathering that Ghost Town certainly sounds & being considered as ANYthing BUT cookie-cutter pop/dance stuff, too.
But... Maybe not all who come here know that, yet. Many may be still getting to know Adam... are drawn to him... Curious... Impressed... And still familiar with his stamp as an artist & this world of his fandom... (Including what "right", acceptable ways of commenting are. Lol ;-D)

Even if the way 8:43's comment was phrased may've seemed a little harsh ... that style of speaking is fairly common among rock afaciandos, and perhaps as Adam's supporters we might give special consideration to the recent influx of quite varied Adam fans with varied tastes... And how each person gets to discover Adam their own way, just as we have! :) Varied countries/cultures, too.
He's won over incalculable numbers of fans recently - enormous exposure to many - And even people who who don't like pop/dance, but have accepted Adam into the rock genre & culture. I'm thinking we could offer benefit of the doubt these days as folks in Adam's expanding fan base may not feel stating their opinions about pop/dance music - in itself - is a put-down to Adam. In fact, IMHO... for those with certain commenting styles... They likely would've made similar comments about their favorite artists as well.

Perhaps with all this in mind, we can (myself included!) foster even more inclusivity of varied temperaments & styles... and go farther than ever before to not possibly unintentionally alienate any folks who come here about Adam who might be curious about him and his enormous talent. (Not talking about trolls; snarky remarks ab Adam personally or his own artistry)

Due to Adam's crossover into Rock (QAL) & rock performances with legendary rock icons ... I say, gone are the days of the "standard" Adam fan we've possibly been more accustomed to for years. There are new kids on the block (yay!) & though they may come here appreciating Adam & his talent.... They may not appreciate all his projects. And may not be aware that expressing strong opinions about his styles of music sounds offensive to some.

  17. ... (Continued... )

I think 8:43M may likely be Queen fan... turned (or almost) QAL fan & a hopefully, a growing Adam fan. I want Adam to keep all of his Queenie Adam fans! :) And really, I admire them. I feel its been a rather big step for them to embrace Adam as he fills the frontman role previously occupied by a revered, beloved & still missed Mercury. (Makes me wonder... What if we ever lost Adam... And so tragically, you know? Would we... Could we... really get over it?). Anyway, the measure of appreciating Adam different folks have done... Even if not liking all the styles of his solo work.... I still place value on that, too. Adam placed himself in their collective conscience as he crossed into solidly rock purist stomping grounds... and he's being successful there. Perhaps comment may be more understandable within that context. Adam has been operating as a rock god (the only exposure of him to many). And rock gods don't commonly cross over to pop music, anyway...

Once these dear folks hear Adam's music; particularly his upcoming work... I believe he'll blow our minds & many newbies will appreciate him even more. Adam just does that to people, as we know! :)

Maybe while folks are in different places in their "Adam journey"s... We might offer special grace & kindly provide any clarifying info while assuming the best? Maybe it can give some folks (credible commenters - not trolls) a fairly "safe" place to offer their stronger opinions, we hope :).

It seems easier to me to not mistaken genuine posters for haters/trolls if we all chose to phrase things a little more gently when commenting on Adam's work, yet... phrasing things rather "politely"might run counter to some fans' commenting styles, at times.

Maybe these days more folks here mean well than not & we don't have to pounce as much as we have in the past? I don't know... (It may be fitting at times, too).

Anyway, Love all of you, fellow Glamberts! I'm still learning .... And I certainly don't know all. I own not the market on truth & "rightness" here. My thoughts here may even be viewed as bunk! haha
    .... And that's okay, too. ;)

Long post, I know. My two ++ cents.
    Intended well...

And maybe some ideas for our collective cog to chew around on. :)))
