  1. I'll be in the amen corner for this special! Adam, of course, will be superb, as usual. Wish he was hosting...or singing more songs. But, nevermind, anyone who hears him sing "The Show Must Go On" will never forget it!

  2. I'm loving that they are displaying the lyrics.

  3. Nanbert — agreed. But I'll have to take what Dee said a few weeks ago and just be glad he was asked to appear at all. Now, Nanbert, were you and I running ABC .... !!!!! 😁

And, yes, isn't that fun, Patria? Well, it IS Disney — they're the masters of that kinda thing.

We still got two hours to go before it airs here West Coast.

And THANK YOU my partner in crime, glitzylady — nice, content-rich post, as usual! πŸ’“

  4. Have to say that I enjoyed the whole show. I thought each act did a very good job. Darren was a very good host. He does NOT have a "Queen-level" voice, but he has very good voice and he gave it his all.

I assume that lots of viewers knew a lot of these songs but didn't know they were Queen songs. I know that was true for me when I started to hear more Queen songs with QAL. I would say, "OH! that's a Queen song! I didn't know." I'm sure a lot of viewers were surprised.

Adam was superb, of course. His voice just has a depth and a richness that most singers simply do not have. It sets him apart. You could see that fact on this program. Lots of good singers with nice voices but not necessarily OMG voices. Adam is all OMG. BTW, I think I enjoyed Pentatonix the most. They are great. And Darren was a very fun host.

I hope a some viewers were impressed enough with Adam to seek out some more of this music.

  5. Yes, I thought it was well done...but that it was completely outclassed by Adam...no surprise there! It made sense for him to be near the end of the program. And Dee R Gee, I enjoyed Pentatonix the most, too.

Also, I really liked the subtitles. To be honest, I didn't know all the words to those songs, even though I've heard them dozens of times. My old ears (even with hearing aids) find it difficult to understand words to songs...the music seems to overpower the words... or something.

  8. I really enjoyed the show. I should have taken notes cause I'm not remembering everyone. I like the girl who sang Killer Queen, also liked but can't remember the song with Derek Hough and the female singer. Enjoyed One Republic and Pentatonix. I thought Darren Criss was just right for host and did a great job closing with Bohemian Rhapsody.
Adam, of course, was the ' Pinnacle'. Happily there's a video of Adam's performance only already floating around on Twitter that I have watched countless times already. (Thank you, Gelly)

  11. This is a little out of sequence, but I found an especially good video of "Can't Let You Go" from Adam's 10/30 performance in Vegas, to share with everyone.

I'd always assumed that this song was a lament about a broken romance, but the background scenes seem to indicate the song is about the death of a loved one. Whichever!...it's absolutely heartbreaking!

Has it ever occurred to anyone that it would be fabulous if Adam would release a DVD of that Vegas show?

  12. I finally watched the show this morning, as I'd recorded the show on DVR. My husband & I both watched and we both enjoyed it.. Adam was of course fantastic but the show was so enjoyable and happy. I had seen some comments on social media last night that were somewhat disparaging of the other singers but totally unfair to any of them. They all did a great job and the show was really well done, in my opinion. And Darren Criss was perfect as the host.

  13. I'm happy he did Can't Let You Go again on his last show, but I'm sad that he, for some reason, decided not to for my Wednesday show. 😭. But I'll watch this video gladly — thanks for posting, Nanbert. Also, I would say that the visuals on the screen behind aren't necessarily the definitive interpretation of the song. I think it's whatever your interpretation is. Mine always has been about loss of a relationship. Not entirely sure that Adam had a day in every single visual — he MAY have let the video creator to conceive his or her own interpretation of the song. No, no, keep whatever original vision you had for the song, Nanbert!

Also, different subject, Clash Of The Cover Bands, last week's episode that had the Kings of Country — I'm surprised Adam didn't make a bigger deal about there being three Adams on the show, he mentioned it to one of them in passing, but that's all. But, also — the Tim McGraw performer had not one but TWO women in his band, which was so wonderful, and Adam shoulda said something to the effect that he, too, has several women band members. Missed opportunity, but oh well. But I thought the three judges made the right decision in that episode — the Keith Urban clearly did not look like the real Keith.

Also thought on this week's episode, the Divas, that was SO close, they were both so good, but I agree with their decision to go with the JLo impersonator, she had just a little edge over the other. What did you guys think?

  14. Adam was the highlight for me on the Queen Sing-Along! I liked the whole program but enjoyed Adam the most (obvious of course), I just love him so much only he can satisfy me with the Queen songs. Adam started trending after the program for a good few hours and not only in the United States but in other countries too like Australia and Canada to name a few! 😭. Also trending was George Michael (I love him too) but because G.M. Fans hated Pentatonix version of “Somebody to Love”, said one fan it was garbage! It was not garbage, Pentatonix are a great group I like them. The same fan who said (it was a guy) also said that Queen should of picked George Michael as frontman and not Paul Rogers and Adam Lambert. Well too bad George is not here but Adam is and was the chosen one by Brian and Roger! Other G.M. Fans saying Freddie and George are the greatest of all time no one can’t compare to them. I disagree, Adam can take and has taken over the reign as the greatest vocalists or one of the greatest ones of our present time! πŸ‘

  15. Broddy my condolences on the loss of your Aunt. πŸ™πŸŒΉ. Just caught up with the last postings and saw your comment, I too had wondered about your Vegas trip but no worries whenever you’re ready to tell us.

  16. I am enjoying the Cover Bands show, too. Adam is a fun judge and so are the others. The contestants are all pretty good with a few who are outstanding and a few who don't quite hit the mark. But that's what makes it a competition. Glad Adam got this gig. Hope it's getting good viewer numbers.

The singalong was fun from beginning to end. And Adam was given that sweet spot just before the big BoRap finale which we knew was coming. George Michael fans and Freddy-only fans will always fuss, but the fact remains that Adam was chosen for multiple valid reasons to front Queen. And he proves that choice to be valid every single time he sings. He has no peer.

  18. Patria....I've been trying to find the video of Adam's "The Show Must Go On" performance only by Gelly that you said is floating around. Can you ...or anyone here...find it and post it for me. I don't tweet, so I can't get it for myself. I was hoping to find it on Youtube, but no luck so far.
BTW....what does "trending on Twitter" mean? Sorry...I'm SO last-century!

  19. @Nanbert: I just added the official ABC video from The Queen Singalong of Adam's performance of TSMGO.. Check it out near the top of this blog post..

And about "trending on Twitter": it means that Adam Lambert's name is appearing as one of the Twitter Trending Topics... Means he got a lot of attention for his song on the singalong, which is good news!

    ReplyDelete
  20. And he's still trending in the Pop category right now. Besides the Queen sing-along, it's also the 10th Anniversary of Adam performing with Brian & Roger on the EMAs.

And THANK YOU, dear partner glitzy for posting the video of Adam doing TSMGO — fabulous!!

  21. Thank you so much glitzy lady for posting the song.
Nanbert, I have long ago been left in the dust on new techy things that arrive. I do know how to copy and paste a link so when It's available, I will post it here. Not trying to be coy or secretive. I'm also glad you asked about trending and glitzy answered. I have no idea where to access that information so I'm always glad when Sunflower throws in the info here.

  22. I'm so glad clips of Freddie were shown when Adam sang. People who compare the two have had plenty of opportunities to hear Freddie sing but few visuals of him. These days we get videos and vocals of all singers. By pairing Freddie and Adam in one video it must be easier to see that the two of them are different in most every way except they are both excellent at singing the Queen catalog. Hopefully fans can love them both.

  23. Glitzylady....can't thank you enough for sending me that excellent link to TSMGO! Great picture and sound! After watching it for umpteen times, I sent it out to several other people as well! And I LOVED reading all the well deserved praise for Adam in the comments below.

I wonder what Brian and Roger think about the special. I found it interesting and well-done. Did they have to give permission...or a release...for each song/rendition? Most of the performances were fun, amusing, attractive and impressive (Adam, obviously)...but, of course, lacked the gravitas that QAL itself emits. However, it may have alerted a younger generation to the attraction of Queen's music...and Adam Lambert...all good!

  24. Patria...it's somewhat comforting to know someone else barely limps along on this techno-highway too. Thank goodness we have a few wizards around here to pull us out of the swamp, dust us off, and set us on our way.

You said you were happy that clips of Freddy were shown when Adam sang.... but I felt the opposite, because I feared many/most of the audience wouldn't know what/who they were seeing. ... and a strange, half-naked man waving his arms around might have been confusing, maybe scary, to young viewers!

    ReplyDelete
  25. It is a puzzle Nanbert. Adam sez he's an adult entertainer. Disney sez they are for kids. Yet they invite Adam and Queen in. But Disney stuff has lots and lots of scarier things in their content, imo. Scary everywhere. lol
I'm sticking with I think it's a good opportunity to bring visuals of Freddie because I think there are lots of younger fans who have made their choice without ever being familiar with the real Freddie on stage or off.

  26. For good or ill, I think lots of kids of very tender ages have seen a lot more sexually-oriented stuff on TV than Freddy Mercury dancing around in his tighty-whities. Even sit-coms get pretty edgy sometimes. I think the Freddy clips were fine and very appropriate for the occasion, melding together two epic singers in all their glory.

  27. Just watched Cover Bands. Very fun. Glad the Fooz Fighters guys won. They were really good. Adam looked stupendous! Very glittery. Next week is Celine Dion and Aretha.

  28. SO SORRY that that lovely official video of Adam singing TSMGO has been removed from above!
Nice try, glitzylady...I watched it several times, and sent the link to a few people...and will miss it!
