By now you’ve heard the news that Adam Lambert will appear on the cover of the April 14th issue of Beatweek Magazine to discuss his debut album For Your Entertainment, his return to American Idol this week to serve as contestant mentor, his new “Remixes” EP, and more. In our interview, Adam discusses why he chose his album’s title track for the lead single, even though he felt at the time that second single Whataya Want From Me had the potential to be a bigger hit:

“The reason that we went with the first single, For Your Entertainment, is I just wanted to do something a little unexpected,” Lambert tells Beatweek. “Whataya Want From Me is a little bit more straight ahead, you know? In some respects it has a little bit more mass appeal.”

As far as the public’s reaction to his first single, “For Your Entertainment was something that I didn’t think anybody would expect, and it’s not your typical kind of Idol first single.”

Lambert discusses both of his first two singles in more detail, and also reveals the title of his third single and shares why he chose it, along with his plans for his “extensive” upcoming U.S. summer tour, and much more in Beatweek Magazine’s April 14th cover story. The full issue will be available digitally for free at Beatweek.com on April 13th and is also available via free digital iTunes subscription.

Hey you internet-using fans of Adam Lambert - take advantage of this article and go post a comment there in support of the FYE single!! That is such a good track! As far as the lyrics being a bit racy - DO THESE PEOPLE WHO HAVE PROBLEMS LIKE THIS LISTEN TO HALF THE FREAKIN' SONGS ON THE RADIO??? If you ask me, the lyrics to FYE single are actually more subtle than Rihanna's Rude Boy lyrics - you know, in terms of that 12 year old riding in the car when a song comes on the radio. So frustrating!
