ADAM LAMBERT FINALLY MAKES IT TO BOWIENET

He was a young American...
Not sure why it's taken me so long to succumb to the charms of Adam Lambert, he's been pronouncing his love of all things Bowie since his days as a contestant on American Idol and he's proud to wear Bowie on his chest, see inset above.

His debut album is called For Your Entertainment (a pun on Roxy Music's For Your Pleasure perhaps?) and that's Rolling Stone magazine's take on an alternative cover for the album above.

Adam has been in the UK promoting the release and he talks about the influence that Bowie has had on him yet again in this interview with MySpace UK.

He admits that the influence is probably more visual than anything and though he's had the royal seal of approval from Boy George, I have to say I think he looks more like a Glam Elvis than he ever did David Bowie.

And as for the heading: Is Adam Lambert The New David Bowie? over on gather.com, well really, how rude!

To be honest, as much as Master Lambert is clearly a lovely lad, the real reason I've decided to run this piece is that Rexer threatened to send the boys round if I didn't give Adam more column inches...I think that's what he said at least.

Adam Lambert NEVER compared himself to David Bowie! That was taken from a headline on the gather.com website. He only said that, visually, he had been influenced by Bowie as a 'glam' artist. Adam has his own and unique persona. David Bowie was a great artist in his time (and still is). Adam is a great artist now and will be still be in the future!!

Adam is definitely his own man and has his own unique persona. He admires Bowie for the glam, influence and courage to do his own thing and would like to write with him, not be him. Sometimes overthinking confuses the message. funbunn40

Well at least they are talking about him!!!

Oh for heavens sake, can't the media get anything right? NO. Adam looks a little like Elvis. Elvis was the king of glam. I remember those sparkly jumpsuits he wore--even too sparkly for Adam I think. But that's it. As far as sound is concerned, I think Adam's style is more like Muse than anyone else. You can really see their influence on his style.

Adam knows who he is as an artist. He is very very creative and smart.
We all know that the kid had a talent like no other.
Stupid article. But, they are talking about him
remembert, no publicity is bad publicity.
Adam is on the spotlight all the time.
Vote billboard.
Vote VH1
request IIHY on your local radio

it's not easy being a fan of Adam. There is always work to do, lol
love Adam sooooo much. So, I enjoy it.

About time they aknowledged the elephant in the room! The only thing I don't like about most (there are exceptions, like myself ;)) Bowiephiles are their elitist attitudes so this is quite some achievement, believe me. I've been hanging around them since before Adam was born. And it's kinda neutral to mildly positive not acerbic and dissmissive and that's an even bigger compliment!

Yep, the author's overall message of feeling COMPELLED to talk about Lambert is, actually, pretty great!

Today, I actually got TWO responses from radio stations - the DJ's, not the program directors (have found I have more luck emailing DJ's than program directors) - and one was going to play IIHY for me, and the other said the station was considering adding IIHY and hoped to be playing it soon! I was psyched. Fairly big East Coast market - have always had good luck w/ requesting. Remember, be respectful and charming (if it's a format where you can type in or speak words) as I've found it's gotten me a long way and many responses over the course of months requesting WWFM

Me again - Anon @May 13, 2010 12:50 PM - also wanted to say that when I request IIHY to radio stations, if it's an email for example where I can type out a short line or two, I say something to the effect of - "if you haven't yet added IIHY, could you kindly consider playing WWFM..." Got a reply last week with an "absolutely".

adam said bowie was an inspiration and not trying to compare himself to him! adam voice is more powerful than bowie, end of the story.

Adam liked the androgenistic look of Bowie.

I loved Ziggy Stardust for a long time - now not so much. Now I love Glambert - prettier face and voice.

Adam is asked over and over about his life long influences in music - David Bowie is huge for him and that's IT - a powerful influence, NOT a calculated emulation. Adam is his own phenomenon and totally unique. You can comment on similar snippets in fashion, hair and music style but his voice, personality and eyes are like no other. UIMA

ADAM is not Elvis or Bowie.....He is ADAM a unique and incredibly talented individual. I hope ADAM does get to meet Mr Glitter Glam Bowie....and Bill come to that.

What Bill???? Seriouly I hope Anon May 14, 2010 1:13 AM is not refering to B.Kaulitz?! What's this stupid obession wth wanting the 2 guys to meet or compare them...The boy was a child when Adam was wearing black color liner and being glam, I don't care if BK was wearing make-up at 9 or 10 or whatev..so what?my sis and I wore it for carnival and halloween, every year when we were younger, does that makes us future glam/emo kids?NO..'cuz you don't know for sure what u'll be at 12 or 10
Ok, sorry..I got carried away but it's anoying not to mention tht BK is not a powerful influence in Adam but Bowie is and just the fact that his fans actually decided to write something about him, therefore acknowledged him, is really great!!! Thus I agree with comment above..Adam is himself, not Bowie(thank god!no offense to his fans) and not Elvis.
Take care,
Portuguese Fan

Bowie was always my fave and I had to same reaction when I first saw David as I did when I first saw Adam! I really think it would be huge if he (Bowie) would do something, just anything with Adam.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Adam loving Bowie and being inspired by him. Bowie stunned people back then with his persona and talent. He was so damn cool and out of the box but he was also beautiful. No one, not even men freaked out that he was bi, or wore make-up,etc.--so, people today are much more uptight about those things. It's too bad that we have so many music police around!

Sure glad Adam is handsome cause if you look at BK in some pictures he is not that handsome and still looks like a young kid which he is.....No one like Adam...Keep going and inventing music Adam I love it...
