HOLY SHIT I didn't know that's how they make their money. I just googled them and apparently they won a legal battle against a dead soldier's father. They picketed the poor soldier's funeral and the father was mad so he sued them but in the end, they won the legal lawsuit!!!! WTF!!

It is important not to give protestors the satisfaction of a response from fans. Just ignore them. They would not be there if they did not want some kind of response or acknowledgement from fans or the people they are protesting.

around 6 months ago there were a Muslim Protest Group who tried to stage a protest when the dead soldiers were driven through this village which caused Massive Offence to the General Public and were later OUTLAWED by our Parliment Goverment

I hate to see the Us characterised by some bigots and radical religious and meathead redneck homophobes. This is a huge country with a very diverse population,racially, religiously, and morally. We also are a country of very good, principled, kind and non-prejudical people. No country is perfect or without flaws. This country was founded on religious and freedom of speech principles. It unfortunately at times gives voice to those that spread hate and unequality. We are a very young country and still have issues to refine and laws to change. We are all individuals that make up a whole, as are people in the UK and other parts of the world. We still love and are proud of our country as you all our proud of yours, warts and all. I think the Americans on this site are the best examplesof the majority of our country and the negative ones unfortunately get the most attention. Individuals have to stand up enmass to encourage lawmakers, political leaders to change laws. Not an easy task, but that is what the radicals are doing, banding together and making a lot of noise. Look what Hitler accomplihed, dividing people, preying on ignorance and insidiously spreading his poison. Sorry for going on like this. I mentioned this on one of the other "protest" threads - that I sort of feel that one of my most powerful weapons against the likes of WBC, not my only weapon but one of my most POWERFUL ones, is to raise my own children to be the very antithesis of what they are and represent.

Lady GaGa isn't even as "gay friendly" as she tries to come off as. She has collaborated with at least 2 known homophobic rappers as well as let a homophobic actor be in one of her music videos!

I did watch the video and have mixed feelings about it but also watched another one with the bikers and the big American flags standing between the funeral possession and the WBC group to try and hide them. I agree that as fans we need to pass by the Westboro group and not touch them, lest they find a reason to sue, but we don't necessarily have to pretend they don't exist...They do exist and they are potentially dangerous... They are indeed promoting hate and potential hate crimes, in this case against gay and lesbian people and Jewish people, and whoever else they deem to be sinful or un-godly or un-Christian or whatever they decide to rail against. The WBC is in essence potentially encouraging and inciting violence against these citizens of the the US, which should be against the law, wouldn't you think??? There are just enough zealots out there who take those words seriously and think they need to do "Gods work" or some such thing.... Very scary indeed...But I did hear that Bill O'Rielly, the conservative talk show host, even condemned their actions when they sued the military man's father after they picketed the son's funeral, and B.O'R said he would pay the attorney fees of the father if the court found in favor of the WBC...That gave me some hope that all is not lost....Maybe someday the WBC will find themselves being laughed at and booed off the streets of America. We have a liberal president, a liberal senate majority and a liberal house of representatives majority. If the social liberals wanted to do something about gay rights and the problems with the WBC they could pass anything they wanted in the house and senate without a single vote needed from the more conservative republicans. Why don't they do it? I'm sick of conservatives being bashed all the time when the democrats control the Executive and Legislative branches of our government. They are the ones that need to do something now while they still have the majorities.

I think that America is a great country and do understand that it has free speech, we here in the UK also have free speech. However, with the right to free speech also comes responsibility, and it is not acceptable for people to say whatever they want, or to act however they think fit with total impunity. We have passed legislation that makes it an offence to "incite hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation or race". If these people protested like this in the UK they would be arrested under this law. It does not stifle normal free speech as this law is only used in extreme circumstances. Glitzylady is correct these people are inciting violence against your citizens and as such their actions should be against the law.

Europe has problems of their own including anti-semitism and resurgance of neo-nazi movements. Protesters and violence are certainly not exclusive to the U.S. Maybe there is a bit more tolerance in some areas to the gay community and more sophistication and acceptance of things sexual, but don't think for a moment that there is greater tolerance than in America. Just check your history.

What makes our country unique is the right of people to make these statements. They are hateful and ignorant and designed to be provocative. Gaga gave the best advice. Be like the flower children of the 60's. Flash the peace sign and be on your way. Don't engage them.
