mmm, not impressed with the grade for Adam, and no mention of his worldwide success which none of the others have had. And Carrie Underwood, the Idols only country champ, really,I thought they were all country, or hot christian chart !!!

Carrie is the only Country girl. Kelly is pop, David and Daughtry Rock, Jordan pop/R&B, J HUd R&B, Adam POp/Rock, COnstantine Broadway. I think 'B' is impressive for Adam. He has only 1Album and he has scored a grammy. Give him 1 more year, I am 100% positive he'll hit A+ on his Second.

Tell Tanner Stransky that her report deserves a grade "D", she should do RESEARCH before doing report !!!!

What a horrible grade for Adam and not including his other global achievements. I hope he wins the Grammy. Does anyone know, how many of the other Idols won the Grammys?

vote for Adam

Are they crazy??? A B grade for Adam??? No mention of the mega successful world wide tour with almost all of the 114 concert venues SOLD OUT while other artists had to cancel tour dates because of low sales, Adam had to add more concert dates! My gosh, there is no mention of his international success at all! Platinum all over the world (just not in the US yet). Please, go and check it out Entertainment Weekly! At least they got the Grammy nomination right!

what a joke!!!! B for adam, after his successful world tour! get a life, whoever wrote this article.

Well...on the plus side, he was included in the article...and some (ahem...) others weren't.. so I'll take it as a pat on the back for Adam, although I think at least a B+ would have been nice...Or an A-....next year at this time an A...for sure, with A+'s in a couple of years! And they included a nice big picture as well...and a flattering one at that...so I'll take it. Things are looking up, because they are at least acknowledging his presence now!

And HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM!!!!!!!!!!!! "DANG DANG" is trending on twitter right now (Adam's "other name")!!!! Currently #7 ....

Adam = A+

All this scoring is so subjective. But if you base Adam's accomplishments on the scores that everyone else got, there is NO WAY you can put him on equal playing ground as Constantine Maroulis - I mean, puh-leeze! It's great that Mr. Rock Of Ages got a Tony nom - but that, and his time on Broadway, just doesn't add up to what Adam has done in the past year.

And David Cook -- album sales, yes, sure, great!, and I like Cook -- but he has to have one of the lowest profiles of any Idol winner other than Taylor Hicks and Lee DeWyze.

That being said, Adam, at the very least, should have been on an equal footing with Cook and gotten AT LEAST a B+. No, he didn't get as many U.S. album sales as Cook, but everything else he's done, again, puts him at least on level playing field. But I'm thinking he deserves even moreso -- such as A-, same score as Daughtry. RIGHT..?!?!

I'm guessing what this writer has factored in here, in very great subtlety (and, thus, has not explicitly stated), is the damn AMAs debacle. Unfortunately, like it or not, that appearance has had LEGS for a certain portion of folks for a very long time -- at least for the Hollywood suits (I'm presuming the bigwigs at Disney, which owns ABC), and that has trickled down to some in the media.

Thing is, Adam really doesn't need to prove himself anymore, but if the media buffoons need something else to mollify their snobbery, then I think his Grammy appearance will do that. And he doesn't have to win, he doesn't even have to sing -- just his presence there as a Grammy nominee I think will help put the AMAs TO BED once and for all for those fools!

I agree with @Glitzy that at least Adam was mentioned rather than anyone else from his season. I did think it rude of EW to mention Dolittle if they were going to be nasty enough to give her a "D". Why not talk about someone else they like better instead of being negative about her? I don't really remember her, but still.

Hate to sound ignorant, but what does "trending on twitter" mean? I don't know how that works.

and...HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ADAM!!!

@ V
"Trending on Twitter" means that a name, phrase, place, etc. is being mentioned in tweets in higher numbers than anything else...For instance "DANG DANG" was being tweeted in honor of Adam's birthday and depending on location (US, Asia, Worldwide, etc.) when I saw it "trending", it varied between #6 and #7-th most tweeted words or phrases. It apparently trended higher earlier...They usually list the top 10 trending subjects....The other day, it was "UNFBERT" again of course meaning Adam..Twitter is picky about trending Celebs names for very long at a time, and will remove them after awhile because otherwise, over-zealous fans (who, us??!!) might end up "trending" the names indefinitely, hence the change in spelling or in this case, nickname (dang dang : ) ). Usually something that is trending is newsworthy in some sort of way. For instance, Nelson Mandela was very ill in the hospital yesterday and his name was trending because there were a lot of tweets about him and his condition. Hope that helps...

Well as an Aussie I can say I've never heard of most of these people. The ones I know are Kelly, Jennifer, Carrie (vaguely by name but not her music) and Adam - thoroughly! The rest are meaningless to me.

So they must be only judging them based on a very limited idea of "success" in American terms.

Anonymous said...

We all know Adam is A+++, but at least he is finally being mentioned! Let's be positive about it (I know it's difficult) nancdruuu2

This article was not researched at all. It is solely based on hard cd sales in the US (no account of media coverage, worldwide impact, several times platinum download sales, endorsements by mega stars, etc.). Really amateur article and so archaic.

Anonymous said...

forget the grade, he's the only male picture they show so that tells you something about who they are using to draw in readers.

Anonymous said...

What a rubbish article. They have no idea what is actually happening in real music bisiness world. Adam is much too low graded. I am from Europe, but honestly NEVER heard of Carrie (who ??)... none of my friends and family. I am sorry but it's true.

It strikes me as ridiculous to compare Adam's sales from one album to other Idols' total sales of multiple albums over many years. And how in the hell does anyone with a brain equate Constantine's success with one show on Broadway to Adam's record sales, headlining worldwide tour, and Grammy nomination - all from an album that was realeased just 14 months ago??? I give EW a big "F" for both research and analysis!

We Glamberts just have to be patient I guess - time will show who the true worldwide star really is!!!

Well said Krismidas!

Even Golf (which I HATE) gives "Handicap" points to beginner players. This whole thing of grading is a stupid idea even child can understand!

I have no offence about country music, but coutry music is only popular in America. I prefer to learn gold if I have to listen to country music!! ha!!

Sorry I meant to say "GOLF" not "Gold" previously ;

According to a recent press release by Kobalt Music:"Lambert, who was the runner up on American Idol's 8th season, has emerged as a global star. His debut album reached No. 3 on The Billboard 200 albums chart and has sold more than 750,000 copies in the U.S. with the hit singles "Whataya Want From Me,"' "For Your Entertainment" and "If I Had You." The album has sold over 1.2 million units worldwide and also went Top 10 in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Greece and Finland plus reached No. 16 in Germany. In the U.S. Lambert has sold nearly 3 million digital single downloads. All singles tracks combined from the album have sold 4.2 million units worldwide." If you add up the singles and albums Adam has sold 5.4 million units worldwide. This is a poorly researched article and the writer should not be praised for throwing Adam a crumb!

Adam deserves an A . Melinda Dolittle can actually sing and I wish music labels would look into her more. I went to see AI LIVE TOUR when she was on that year and her voice was stellar like Adams. Happy #29 bertday boy.A+ A+ Little DANG DANG.

I agree with anon@5:39. You put the pictures on the cover of an article that will lure people in. Adam is still that "hook" so that is really encouraging! As to the fashion police... it would have been nice if the audience was told that Adam was attending RuPaul's drag queen race and was dressed for that occasion. In the older picture they showed ( "he used to be cute"),he was a contestant on Idol. Doesn't look like a rock star? Pleeze! He IS the King of Glamrock... "rock" as in rock star.

I love the pictures with his new friend at Disneyland...the one he met in France. You guys know who I mean..it is early in the morning :) He looks so happy! Happy Birthday Adam!

Also, thank you for the kind remarks. I come to this site when I feel like the rest of the world is going a little crazy. The Glamily here restores my sanity and faith in the goodness and intelligence of people. As some of you know, I am active in the gay community and I am a political animal. I am worried the culture wars have been getting too much attention in the US again. A representative from MN was against repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell because gays will recruit straights. Her logic: "they can't reproduce so they recruit." She is then allowed to comment on our President's state of the union address.. and CNN shows it. The good thing is, she looked really stupid. Sorry. I had to vent.

nothing to prove because he is the global superstar. American Music Industry don't want to acknowledge Adams instant success because he is the true artist and a dominant person. Go!go! Adam Happy B-day and enjoy.............

nice to see article about Adam.Picture used two times and even mentioned new album in the making.I don't think some people know the importance of keeping Adams name and face out there while working on new music, and it's done with decent articles like this.

If America does NOT recognize Adam fairly, he is always welcome to move to Europe! :)

He is most welcome!

I think Constantine shows up on so many top Idol lists because of his perserverence as well as his talent.

1) his CD numbers here are bogus in terms of actual sales (he created his own production co. & put out his own album) since they continue to sell as I write- and have since 2007.

2) he was 6th place finalist- has never received one ounce of support from AI and has managed, through much hard work and a whole lot of talent- to remain relevant and very visible since 2005.

3) 8 live shows a week for months (years, in his case) on end- is impressive, whether you're in an arena or on stage in a Broadway theater.

4)Receiving a Tony nomination- (one out of 5) for Best Actor is equivalent to a Grammy nomination- just ask Hugh Jackman et al.

I say, fans of 9 out of 10 of the Idols on this list should be very happy (tho I agree that Melinda shouldn't be publicly subjected to a grade of D). After all- how many hundreds of thousands have auditioned since Idol's inception?

Overall, I give EW a B+ for their article.

Anon @ 12:44, thanks for the Constantine update. He appeared in a town near me last year and I'm sorry I missed his performance. Glad to hear he is continuing to do well.

Adamluv said...

@12:44, I also want to thank you for the kind remarks towards Constantine. He was never a favorite of mine but know that a Tony nomination is a really big deal, and I applaud him for that. Will be seeing him in Rock of Ages the end of Feb. Looking forward to it. Congrats to Adam for being included in this list of idols and also wish they'd included the GNT info. for all the peeps out there that have no knowledge about what he's been doing since Idol. But still positive anyhow!

Anonymous said...

I can not believe Adam and Jennifer Hudson did not get A+! I would like to know what they based this on.

Anonymous said...

@12:44 I feel like a jerk now for jumping on Constantine. I actually liked him on Idol and am happy for his success. I guess I singled him out in my rant @6:42am because he received the same "grade" as Adam, and I was thinking in terms of success as a recording artist.

I still give EW an "F" for analysis though, because it is ridiculous to compare the success of people who have had widely varying amounts of time to build their careers. But I guess they have to come up with enough "editorial" to fill their pages each week.

Peace! Krismidas

So funny that there are pages and pages of totally outraged Glamberts' comments because the object of their obsessions got a B. B is good for Christ's sake. He's not Bono. Get a life.

Anonymous said...

UMMMM...First us Glamberts...as you negative refer to us Anonymous...are people who know talent...Carrie is huge because she is so generic...and huge in country music...fits her perfect...On Idol she was truly boring and Bo should have beat her. Kelly is fantastic...she spans many genres...Daughtry...how can you give him a B...he and his band have done great...Adam...he is an amazing singer...was amazing on the Idol show...his cd is platinum world wide...no other post Idol star has the world wide following he does...His videos have been great...FYE, WDYWFM and IFHY were consistently in top ten on VH1 for weeks...His tour was sold out in US and across Europe, Asia and Australia...In a year that conc erts have been cutting their concerts due to unsold tickets...And do not give us the bull that that was because he did not do huge venues...He choose medium ones because he likes to be one on one with audience...And he did do some large...Canada...Asia...All of this with the homophobic hype he has had to deal with...His amazing voice is matched by his kind heart...at the same time doing all this he raised a ton of money for Donors Choose (charity that raises money for public schools arts programs that are the first to get cut) and now his Clean Water charity drive that started two weeks ago has raised over 250K...and is still getting donations...He is humble...he is honest and he is extremely talented...Obviously EW needs to get a grip...and now a Grammy nomination...Way to go Adam...

Adam, first class yuck! ewwww Freak of nature.

Adam was great on idol, another great was Crystal Bowersox who didn't win.
I am starting to think they need to change the voting system so only 1 vote per phone is allowed. I heard 1 person voted 278 times.
This doesn't prove who's best.
Adam was great....and so was Crystal, both are hot hot hot !!
But there's other ways of getting rich in music besides American Idol...I saw this site at USA ShowBiz - Record Label Talent Search Contest .
I've heard they have many websites and record producers follow their every review the post on new artist.

Well thanks Greg

Oh sorry, I hope it was ok I posted that link to that site, they helped me to sell my music world wide, but I have no idea how many others they help get contracts in the music industry for free.
I just thought someone wanting to learn about how to get a contract landed by a major studio may be interested
Thanks Greg
