And on a more serious note, for some reason that made me think about Adam when he was in High School, awkward, still afraid to be himself, afraid people would "find out", and now look at him! This handsome, successful, confident and obviously very proud of who he is,fabulous man. And perhaps in love too... I love being his fan and am so hoping things just keep "getting better" for him.. He is such a great inspiration for all those kids and others out there who haven't come to that place yet.

Um..yes...that would work! Calvin Klein model with a giant Times Square billboard while we're at it..in fact giant billboards everywhere! Although, pretty sure I would drive right off the road if I saw that anywhere...I can see the news reports now:

I'd just like one of the bear hugs he is so free with. I do love hugs, married my husband cause he was a huggy person. Wrapped up in loving arms I felt safe and warm.

And they were magic hugs I discovered after our babies were born....if they were fussy his arms always quieted them....those arms even worked on friends babies!

I'm not sure he was completely thrilled with his "gift" he gets stuck at family reunions with a couple armfuls.

We had some friends over for dinner tonight. The woman was a BIG Adam fan until the AMA. She said " Oh! Did you see that guy on American Idol on Thursday?...you know.. " I said, "Diddy?" She says, "No, the one who won a few years ago" I said " Kris Allen?" She is now waving her hands and getting more and more exasperated. Finally she say "NO!..Adam Lambert! Did you see him? He looked more handsome than ever...and that song! It brought tears to my eyes. He wrote it!! But the picture kept fading in and out on the blasted TV.. I want to buy that song...." Lots of further panting.
Umm needless to say, Adam has won back a fan. I just sent her the link from this site. Before she left she said "Don't forget to send me Adam". I thought, honey, if I had Adam to send,I would probably keep him for myself... She wasn't the only one of my friends that had the same reaction. I think this went on in a lot of households Thursday night. Brilliant performance, Adam.

I really think you are right about that. I think there are many "former fans" who are back on the Adam bandwagon and I'm guessing he has just picked up many new ones as well. That performance was perfect, and as you said, brilliant. I don't know if you saw my story about my conversation with a very angry woman re Adam and how much she couldn't stand him, and my suggestion to try to resist fast-forwarding his song on Idol on Thursday. I am very interested to see what she has to say the next time I see her. Hoping its similar to your friend's reaction..We'll see if SHE is panting! LOL!! And no, we definitely get first dibs on Adam, because we stuck with him all this time..She'll have to get in line! And its a very lonnnngggg line!

I think Adam has learned a LOT in the last year.
1. That he can't resurrect 70's GLAM. He can dabble in it for occasional performances but it would be a self defeating course for the long run.
2. That unless he's rocking out ,the heavy eye makeup is inappropiate (no matter how fantastic it makes him look)
3. Cool the spikes and claws and OTT unless it's for an artistic photo shoot or the tour stage.
4. He can win back a lot of the Idol fans who deserted him after AMA kerfluffle. You read lmb's comment about her friends response. Several of my friends who have been on the verge of committing me for the last year or so, called and said, "Now THATS the young man we saw on Idol".
5. I know he's stubborn and wants to do things HIS way, but he's also smart and knows sometimes if you give a little you get a lot.

I wish someone could tell why this young man has such an effect on me (us). I watched the gif many many times. Just can't take my eyes off him. I also feel so proud of him, as if he were my son. I have a 33 year old son.
I love the clean look. I noticed he is keeping his personal life quieter. The "paps" haven't taken photos of him out and about for quite some time. I guess a "change is gonna come".

like many people, i stopped following adam after some of his antics at his glamnation tour especially his tours in new zealand and europe. i said, that was it, can't stand this man anymore, enough is enough. my hubby was actually happy because i did not spend too much time in front of my computer.BUT ater watching adam's AI 10 last thursday, i resurrected and back on adam wagon. today, march 13, i spent almost a day going back to watch AI8 performances and realized i can't let go adam. adam is a gem, a good person. i am learning to accept his lifestyle and continually enjoys his music istead.

I fell in love with the idea of an Adam Lambert 2 years ago. C'mon - an out homosexual making a go at being a popstar in the most bigoted country in the world ?! Gotta love him ! Since then I've discovered an artist and a mensch. i love Adam, period. He is a gem, one of a kind artist and an inspiration to thousands of kids who are looking for a role model.

He is making a great decision right now to tone it down. It took him a long time to sell 800k of his CD's in the US.. which it shouldn't have, considering he had millions watching him on AI.

I loved GNT because I'm a complete Adam-Head but...he needs more fans in the US imo. Look how his CD was selling on Amazon after the AI? That was a great "Aftermath"...and hopefully, new fans will join in on the fun and follow his career. I don't want him to have a cult following because he's too talented for that.

Absolutely love this look on Adam, less glammed up and just so handsome. I guess the glitz and glitter are great for a tour, but I like to see this casual and clean look also, esp. for tv appearances. And that smile can light up an entire room. It makes me smile and just feel so good. To me he is the best vocal talent in the music business today. Add to that his charisma, self-confidence, humbleness and stage presence and you have the total package for success. Nice performance of AFTERMATH with its message and Adam's decision to give part of the profits from the remix to the Trevor project. Read that he spent time talking to the AI contestants and as we see, also took pictures. It's more than Diddy because I read that he just walked off stage, maybe not too happy about his performance in comparison to Adam. Adam Lambert is in a league of his own and I look forward to the next look, the next pictures or interviews and, of course, the new cd in the fall. With all the horrible news in the world about earthquakes, nuclear disaster problems, flooding here in the NJ area and blizzards in N.Dakota, it is so nice to get a little piece of good news and to view some terrific pictures of this performer who is excited about life and his music. I know it can't take away from all the disasters and pain, but it does give you a little bit of relief from it all.

Does anyone have any sales figures since his appearance on Idol?

Although I love Adam as a lean, mean, clean-cut machine, I also love him down and dirty, a litle bit grungy and sultry/sexy. I love all his looks, but I hope he keeps showing us that sexy bad-boy now and then, especially on his next tour. I know! I know! There will be some who will grab their pearls and gasp in offended shock, but MY Adam is sexy as hell and I wanna see it! He doesn't have to do the uber sexy thing on every song. God knows, I love him just being there singing, But he's such a sexual being; I just hope he remembers that some of us want that element to stay. I know he has to appeal to a broad audience, but I think there are others like me out there who want a little sweatin' and heavy breathin'!

Adam is more than a beautiful voice to me, he is an inspirational being for me, while watching him first on AI, he was exactly what I needed at that time. Like I posted before, I don't think I can see FYE performed any other way, because, Adam has so much theater blood instilled in him. & I LOVE ADAM'S THEATRICS! So I do hope he keeps the glam & glitter & leather in his next tour.
Adam's AI performance thursday was truly a very inspirational moment on t.v.. I can't get over those last few notes coming from his voice, that was my favorite part of the song, that voice was in total control!

Just saw Adam's Acoustic Live CD on ITunes at #79. It hasn't been on there for a long time. His appearance on AI has gained him lots of new fans that never heard Adam sing acoustically. I thought he looked the most gorgeous ever, but I still love his glam look too. I love every look on Adam except maybe when he had the long hair for a short time.
He keeps us guessing all the time that is what makes him so exciting!!!

I agree with you..(boy do I) and I am seriously betting that Adam will still be showing us that sexy, not so clean cut side as well. He just can't help it. This version of Adam is really smart right now (IMHO)..and will be getting him some new and renewed notice, but we haven't seen the last of "sexy bad boy" either, although gotta say he's still exuding it anyway..He's looking a little bit like the sweet "boy next door", but in his case "the boy next door with benefits.."... and many of them.. The "bad boy" is still there..biding his time....And to use an analogy from the above mentioned Juneau and Xena article," Adam the Maserati" has just slowed it down to idle (ahem..Idol...) mode, but that powerful engine under the hood (sigh..) is just biding its time, waiting for the next opportunity to open it up and let'r rip, and take us on another wild ride...he's just going to have a lot more passengers the next time around!

I always enjoy your comments but cannot not agree with the one you posted at 12:18 am. This performance was not the result of what Adam learned this past year. He did it before on AI, in the upright cabaret, during his promo performances in Europe last spring and on GNT when he performed Aftermath in the most intimate way. He knows how to deliver a song, period.
Asking him to tone it down for good to appeal to the masses, wouldn't that contradict the very essence of Aftermath? There are so many sides to him, none of us can imagine what he is capable of as a singer and an artist.
It is just my opinion.

luckily he has both vocals and style, unluckily he can only focus on one at one time, and obviously the first one is more acceptable by the majorities, so now he's more mature and close to the mainstream. good for his career, happy for him!
personally, love his 'glam style' much more, because it's rare and precious. his AMA is brilliant and one of his best! he just has this glittering gene inside of him. so during his tours, he totally owned the stage and freedom of self-expression(especially outside the us). every rebellious cell was wakened, and he reached the highest morale that did not show recently.

I love Adam no matter what, but I do think the way he looked on AI last Thursday will bring him a lot of new fans. He is showing there are so many sides to his musical genuis and his love of performing. Has there ever been a super star in music who pleases everyone's tastes? I think Adam will come close.

I think this casual acoustic style takes him more to the level of the contestants. The latest performances on Idol and Ellen were forgettable. Maybe this was intentional, but if he keeps doing this, he loses his star quality. I miss the rock sound.

We're seeing Adam's TV persona vs the concert performer/entertainer. He now understands he has to be more conservative on TV to succeed. But he can't hide the GLAM inside; it shines in his eyes. And I wanna know how come I don't look this good without makeup? Adam is a rare talent wrapped in a beautiful soul. Love how he's werking it!

Hey, I have a four-wheel drive, so put up those billboards and I'll gladly drive into a ditch. From a personal viewpoint, I'll take Adam any way he presents himself--be it glammed out or glammed down. I don't think it matters much either way. The first couple of times you concentrate on his face, etc. and then finally you start really listening to the music. Am I wrong here?

I was at my PFLAG board meeting when he was performing Aftermath. I told the group what he was doing. You guys have to understand that the gay rights movement is very conservative. It is the reason why everyone from Perez to the drag queens I met in Oregon are toning things down. They felt his AMA performance set us back and fed into the right wing crazies...and it did. Look it up. BUT I assured them that knowing Adam as a fan, he would be doing this for the kids. It would be toned down and beautiful...and it was. I got really good responses from that group after his performance. This is very important for his career. I was so concerned that here in blue Seattle, his songs were not always getting good playtime. This was also happening in San Fran. according to relatives of mine. If you remember FYE disappeared from VH1. I truly love this guy -glam and "stripped" ( oops just had a moment there of that visual)...but this performance should be a shot in the arm for his career.
Glad you are back Lily. Heard from another friend in Alaska. Her son is gay,too. Her response to his AMA right afterwards..."Adam Lambert needs to grow up!" Well she thinks he has not only grown up, but he has touched her heart. So glad this is happening for him. It was a great business decision, but I think it was also just something he did from his generous heart. He will still be "the bad boy" I think...just more savvy.

Do you suppose some of the above comments were why Adam resorted to scolding fans on Twitter a couple weeks back for telling him how to live his life?

It's fine to have an opinion, but a real fan accepts an artist as he/she presents at any given time. These are extremely creative people unlike any of us, and they are going to changing all the time depending on where their magnificent brains send them. To decide on a whim driven by an artist' expression to be their fan (or not) tells me you are not a real fan. You are only a fan when the artist does what you want and/or expect.

What I totally love about Adam is his complete unpredicability in his performances. We all know at his core, he is a nice sensitive man who truly cares about others. We know he is intelligent, articulate, has a God given voice and a big heart. Everything else is frosting. Some like chocolate, and others prefer vanilla or mixed!!

Please remember that when he's on stage, he is performing. When he does glam, he is performing. He is reacting to his fans. When he kisses Tommy and thrusts his pelvis at the screaming ladies, he is performing. It's like an actor playing a role. He is not that role. He is Adam, the artist.

Sorry for the rant, but I really get tired of the on-again and off-again fans. If you're back as a fan, good for you and glad to have you again. But I don't expect you to stay. Next time Adam does something in a performance you don't like, you'll be gone again.

I saw that "the home planet" blog earlier today , both my husband and I read it and laughed until we cried too..sooooo funny! We do watch Idol and it was pretty darn accurate...and hilarious! OMG what do we have here, SOME GORGEOUSNESS GALORE \O/\O/\O/\O/\O/ Another latecomer here. This is the Adam that makes me swoon like a teenager teehee. I adore his face with very little foundation, almost bare because he looks so young and fresh. Just my favorite and it doesn't matter to me at all what side he wants to show us since he has been making great choices for himself. I also like the way he keeps us guessing.

This one is a very smart move considering the purpose of the performance which btw was fascinating as usual.

@Eva - i love the video though i couldn't help but be very nostalgic and emotional. Just hearing him talk moves me and delights me. I don't want to understand anymore why he affects me this way and i will just go with the flow and enjoy him through his journey. All i know is that i've never been this excited and happier in my life, no explanations and deeper analysis needed teehee.
