Nakia from The Voice Performs "Whataya Want From Me"

Filed Under ( ) by Admin on Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Posted at : Tuesday, June 21, 2011

Nakia is from Team Christina Aguilera. Apparently after this performance, Adam Levine mentioned that he doesn't know who sings "Whataya Want From Me" and that Nakia must have sang it better than the original. How is he able to say that without listening to the original version?

UPDATE:

Adam talks about it on Twitter:

WTF?!!!! While I am soooo happy Nakia is most likely an Adam Fan, this gives G R E A T Adam LAMBERT exposure! Where the ____ has Adam Levine been the past year and a half? I hear this song regularly even today on the radio.

Nakia doesn't hold a candle to Adam. Shame on you Adam Levine for blindly (and stupidly) making such a comment!! If you only knew just by taking a listen to AML sing it. You would take back your words.

Don't piss of Adam's fandome! We will come after you ha ha!

WTF, Why are people in these judging situations so ignorant, wht dont they do some research. I agree how can you say something is better than the original when you dont even know the original. This could have been a real positive for Adam, but as usual it is always an up hill battle.
Sorry guys I usually do try and stay positive, but its always a battle, isnt it?
Jadam.
Going to listen to Adam sing WWFM now. By the way I didnt mind that version but still cant touch the beauty of Adams vocals for me.

Hi daydreamin, We must have been posting at the same time and said just about exactly the same thing. So I agree with you. Jadam.

i cannot believe this guy adam levine (who is he?) said something ridiculous, was it merely complete ignorance or deliberate insult with adam lambert? your answer is as good as mine.

Anonymous said...

Nakia is from team Ceelo. FYI

Anonymous said...

I am in disbelief that Adam Levine doesn't know that Adam was the one who sings WWFM. That's ridiculous. Not to mention he's supposed to be a judge on the show.

I see this as a deliberate attempt to bash Adam and throw shade at him. What an A HOLE.

Anonymous said...

Hard to believe Adam Levine wouldn't know WWFM a grammy nominated song! Glad Ceelo knows it though. Nakia did fine but no where close to our Adam!!! Then Levine said Javier has the best voice he has EVER heard, that is because he hasn't heard Adam Lambert. Javier does have a great voice but not as good as Adam, no one is!!!!

Anonymous said...

Adam Levine isn't stupid folks!!! He has the same first name indeed!!!! He is just making an issue because he is jealous ha!ha!ha!

I'm just laughing about his comments!!!!!and just rock it hard.... I'm a die hard fan and no one can sing like my Rock God baby!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

i agree adam levine is an arrogant a-hole....he's a pop singer and he doesnt recognize a grammy nominated song from this year? I say his comment was a back handed insult or he's just so full of himself he doesn't hear what's going on around him.

glitzylady said...

I have a very strong feeling that Adam Levine was joking about not knowing who sang WWFM originally. He knows perfectly well who Adam is and who sang WWFM..Of course he is now getting it from all sides of Adam's fandom..and WWFM is trending on Twitter worldwide, AND Adam's WWFM has moved way up on the iTunes charts WOO HOO! ..so I think "our" Adam is getting nothing but good publicity and attention from this..so thanks to Nakia singing WWFM on The Voice, and Adam Levine making a few dumb remarks, , Adam L. is getting nothing but positives. ; )

JAK said...

Adam Levine has obviously been out of the country for the last year or just plain "out of it". It's always flattering to hear someone tackle a song that Adam introduced but it's really hard to imagine that anyone could improve on perfection!

In an attempt to save myself frustration, I don't watch any results shows, I skip it and then find out the next day without all the dramatic pauses, handwringing, hugging, crying and blah, blah, blah. It helps my blood pressure!

Here's Adam Lambert's Response:

"Yeah Nakia! Saaaang boy!! Great performance. I think Adam might know who I am after this next album. Get ready for me Levine. Hahah"

"But for the record, Im def a Maroon 5 fan. Fans: there is NO reason to be angry. Thanks for being protective but it's all good. :)"

Adam Levine didn't know the song by Script either. I have to confess I of course know the band but not the song. But I am not in the music biz though. The script song was the one Xenia sang. Glad his stupidity helped Adam Lambert in a positive way, haha Karma is a you know what!!!

Im sure Adam Levine must feel like a fool, everyone knows who made WWFM , ADAM LAMBERT IS THE GREATEST

Been reading all the tweets to Levine, then Adams (our Adam) is such a class act, with a few well chosen words he makes everything, OK.
Jadam .
Funny this has been positive for Adam with WWFM trending and going up on itunes, COOL.

ps. thanks for the iTunes info glitzylady.

Just as an aside, Adam Levine also said he had never heard the Script song which was sung by Xenia tonight.

which just shows a certain level of ignorance on Levine's part...hope he gets that after some reflection later tonight. boob.

AML IS AND WILL FOREVER BE A CLASS ACT! who is adam levine????

Anonymous said...

Whoops! Slow at the draw, I guess...it's already been said.

@daydreamin - and thanks for the Nakia tweet response info! Cool. MGF

Adam Lambert is the classiest man in the world. He puts out a fire with just a few words that he tweets. He is always so right there with everything, unlike Adam Levine. Adam Lambert will always come out on top because he is the better person! I love him more each day, such a great role model!!!!

Anonymous said...

Adam Levine must have been on another planet or in a coma not to have heard WWFM. I think it is jealousy on his part of the other Adam....Lambert. So great to see the tweet from Adam about Nakia and the reference to his next album and that Levine will certainly know who he is then. And, as usual, Adam Lambert shows no animosity or anger by saying it's all good. This just reinforces all the reasons I am such a big fan of Adam Lambert...he is kind, considerate, humble, and so sincere. AML you are a class act!!

Anonymous said...

just saw in twitterverse that Maroon 5 was also at a Jingle Ball w/ Lambert!!!! Don't know about this myself, but throwing it out there... that would be too much!! JAK mentioned on the previous thread about AML fans being angry, I'm not angry, I just think Levine made a boob of himself!

Anonymous said...

I was totally shocked by that a-hole's remark! Is he kidding or is he a homophobic moron who is tryin to negate Adam's tremendous talent!

Anonymous said...

Adam Levine lost all credibility in the music industry tonight. Pink wrote it and Adam Lambert was nominated for a Grammy in Levine's genre and he doesn't know that? Such a fool!!!

Anonymous said...

As Bugs Bunny would say, "What a Maroon" 5 that is!

Anonymous said...

Adam levine lame attempt at being a smart ass--ingornace and jealousy was all that was- he sings like a girl!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone on twitter needs to send him all the wwfm videos so he can catch up-- asshole.

Nakia is with team Cee Lo...

Anonymous said...

I love Adam Lambert, and I like Maroon 5 too... They are both so popular that I would be surprised if Adam Levine had never heard "Whataya Want From Me." I don't want to accuse him of purposfully insulting Adam Lambert, but it's all very suspicious and weird -- If he did try to insult him though, then why? Many of you are saying Adam Levine is just jealous of Adam Lambert's talent, and I can see why that's an idea ;D but it's still all so strange :\ Adam Lambert doesn't seem to mind Adam Levine's comment though, based on his latest tweets, so let's all just drop this :) I hope this won't cause a constant Glamberts v. Maroon 5 feud; I still like them both (but I love Adam Lambert more :D)

Should a judge really admit they've never heard a song sung by a Contestant, even if it is true?

Anonymous said...

Lyndsey Parker
Adam Levine totally tried to screw Nakia over just now with that comment. Shrewd move, but he plays dirty.

Thank you Lyndsey!

Anonymous said...

Should they? NO! Did he? YES!

Anonymous said...

Nakia did quite a respectable job. Adam Levine simply is trying to cause some s**t because Nakia is on Celo's team. If you've watched from the beginning, Adam is truly the S**t-stirrer of the bunch. Not sure he was being serious, but in any case he sings like a girl, and couldn't beat AML in a sing-off if he tried. I will be voting for Nakia cuz he's got a great attitude and presence.

Anonymous said...

Our Adam is such a class act - tweeting soothing words to calm his troops. But I think he is secretly smiling and enjoying how his Glamberts come out to defend him. We will always have your back BB.

Anonymous said...

Nakia was good because he did not try to sing it like Adam. He "made it his own". He also put a lot of emotion into it.

Anonymous said...

Nakia's version was pretty good but nothing like Adam's, of course. As soon as Adam Levine made his comments about you-know-what, I got up from my chair and said "look out Mr. Levine, the Glamberts are going to eat you alive." I guess I was right. It was very difficult for me to believe he didn't know our Adam and that song. Has he been under a rock or something? Anyway, I love our Adam's tweets. What a classy guy. He always knows what to say. That's why I love this guy so much. A Glambert for life!

Anonymous said...

Adam Levine doesn't know what the hell he is talking about! Adam Lambert can sing circles around that jerk. Harder to Breathe was a damn good song, but no excuse for the Levine to make that comment. He must live under a rock!

Adamluv said...

Didnt want to comment until seeing/hearing the remark myself on my TV. My opinion is that Levine was being a smug mofo who knew perfectly well the song and who made it a big hit. Years ago really liked Marroon 5 but soon realized that all their songs sound alike! But on a hugh positive note - ONE OF ADAMS SONGS WAS USED ON A PRIMETIME TV SHOW AND HIS NAME WAS MENTIONED!!!!!!!!! Fabulous publicity for Adam! And kudos to CeeLo for the selection. Also cool to realize that 3 of the finalists are out and proud! Maybe Adam had something to do with this?? ... Adamluv

Anonymous said...

the female lambs protect you BB! who does this Levine guy think he is?;-) Maroon 5 is good, but no excuse for the snarky comment. He owes the Lambert an apology for this one!

Anonymous said...

Sorry folks but my blood pressure is just boiling right now. I know our Adam said to not be angry but I can't help it. I respect Nakia for giving it his all and he did put a lot of emotion in to the song but c'mon....no one can come close to our BB singing that song. For Adam Levine to say Nakia probably sang it better than the original???? Without even knowing the song??? For Adam Levine to not know the song WWFM, like all posters have said, Grammy nominated song? Started at #3 on the Billboard top 100 hits? Puhleese! Could he be that ignorant? Sorry everyone for ranting but I sit here in disbelief. Thank you, our dear Adam, for being such a wonderful, kind, humble human being. Adam always says the right things at the right time. I'll try and cool down now and read Adam's tweets again. GRRRRRRR

Thank you glitzylady for the info about ITunes and Twitter trending. I only hope this does work in a very positive direction for our Adam.

Now that is the epitome of magnanimity. After being insulted on air, he still is able to say what he believes!!
I guess a true artist never feels insulted because he knows and believes in himself; and doesn't insult others because he is wise.

Nothing like someone else attempting an Adam song to remind us that no one can touch him in the talent department. I was expecting a comment more like, well, you picked some pretty big shoes to fill, not something like, who did that song?!

Anonymous said...

He said he'd never heard the SONG...that's entirely possible. He was just trying to compliment Nakia with the "better than the original" comment. It would have been inappropriate for anybody (Xtina or otherwise) to bring up Adam Lambert at that point.

I'm quite sure a lot of folks are intimidated by Adam Lambert. Nakia even said he didn't think he could sing it, but at least he did a good job of it. Maybe it will help sell a few for copies for Adam.

Some day the judges on these shows will be saying "don't attempt Adam Lambert" like they do Whitney, etc.

It's all good!

Anonymous said...

I have a feeling that Levine has heard the song before, but saying "you sang that better than Lambert" would backlash at him 10 fold compared to feigning ignorance.

It was a rude comment nonetheless, very unprofessional.

Anonymous said...

Good grief, calm down. Who cares if Adam Levine doesn't know a particular song?

CeeLo Green is huge and selected one of Adam Lambert's songs on a Hit nationally televisied program. That's fantastic!!!! Thank God Nakia did a good job and didn't butcher it.

Anonymous said...

I don't give a crap about Adam Levine. I DO care that Adam Lambert's song was chosen to be covered on a huge tv hit show. YES!!

Anonymous said...

Wonder if Latrine has ever heard of Michael Jackson?

Anonymous said...

adam levine does know adam lambert and kris allen opened for him on his tour. I don't believe for 1 sec he didn't know that song. That didn't bother me- what bothered me was sayin nakia sang it better than the orginal artist. He knew what he was sayin. I wonder if the voice will have bb on the show now lol. It is a good thing that adams WWFM song just sold a ton more on itunes however, but I'm so sick of adam getting dissed on constantly and christina could of said something to soften the ignorant blow- but she didn't!

People are focusing too much on the Levine thing..

I loved that Nika did this gesture to Adam (a show that Adam has tweeted about and loves) and this gets overshadowed by this BS.

Besides did you notice how Adam implied he was going to aim for superstardom with this record?

Anonymous said...

i know one guy who most likely doesnt want to work with adam in the future: adam levine. and that's because of fans behaviour over this. Adam Lambert said it nicely..STOP IT

Yes, but imagine the Gaga fans if he had said this about one of her songs!
AFL is in no danger because he remained a class act as usual.
Levine was an ass and deserved to be called out on it.

glitzylady said...

@Carlos
I tend to agree with you: although Adam Levine's comments WERE rather dumb, plain and simple.. I honestly think he meant it as a (stupid) joke, that no one got, and I do have to say that for him to say he thought Nakia's version was "possibly better than the original" was just so ill advised. (Even my husband, who is Glambert, but one who is slightly less "invested" than I am in this fandom, and to whom I always turn for his slightly less biased opinion, said Adam's version is better for sure..and I didn't prompt him or anything..Just the honest truth. He also thought the comments were pretty dumb.) . Nakia did sing well, and did it his way. And Nakia is just very overwhelmed and pleased with the accolades from Adam (Lambert), Sir Elton John (who also liked the song choice: he's an Adam Lambert fan..) and others. Nakia said he loves Adam (Lambert) and he is a big fan of his..Very sweet and classy of him. I tweeted him and told him I'm glad he's a Glambert.

So I agree, time to move on. As others (and myself at 7:53 PM) said, its really very cool that WWFM was featured on The Voice and sung well. Adam has gotten some positive exposure, both of his name and his song. It trended on twitter and has moved up on iTunes. And Adam ("our Adam") has proved once again what a classy gentleman he is, by trying to calm things down, and giving props to both Nakia and Maroon 5, with joking little dig at Adam Levine. And he is also obviously getting really excited and proud of his upcoming album: He has been telling the fans not to ask him about the new music, but sounds like he's getting close to making some decisions about what will be on it..Just love this guy! His tweet bears repeating......... : )

@adamlambert
Adam Lambert
Yeah Nakia! Saaaang boy!! Great performance. I think Adam might know who I am after this next album. Get ready for me Levine. Hahah

Yes, Adam, I think EVERYONE will know who you are after this next Album!

PS Adam Levine most assuredly knows who Adam is AND the song WWFM: they both have music on the Grammy Nominations Album 2011, which I happen to have...But I'm done with this..Back to flailing about Adam Lambert...

Anonymous said...

I think Adam Levine, whoever he is, should crawl under wherever his rock is again.

Adam Lambert’s voice runs rings around Adam Levine’s voice. My niece has seen Maroon 5 perform live and she said they’re nowhere as good live as they are in recording, and that Adam Levine has a rather weak voice. I hear strains of envy from Adam Levine.

Anonymous said...

Adam Levine is jealous that the rumor of Christina and Adam Lambert dueting got more attention than their duet itself! LOL. If he was joking he should not have been. If he had not heard the song before he should not be in the business and certainly not on this show. He must know the song - on the grammy CD of which he is part. What a load of B...! If the Voice wants to retain some credibility it needs to get the best voice on it to perform - our boy.

Our boy knows that being angry ain't going to get anywhere and I really do think he is taking Madonnas advice seriously. Real talent will prevail in the end.

Adam Levine is more impressed with himself than anyone else. He is self focused and comes across as a bit mean. This was all OK until he shat on Adam Lambert. He knows exactly who AL is as Kris Allen opened for his show. If he doesn't, he's one dumb fuck. He was just being jealous or trying to be funny. I think the first as he was insulting. People pretty much let him have it on Twitter.

Anonymous said...

Why people find it so hard to mention Adam Lambert's name directly on those singing competition shows on TV, remember Simon Cowell X-factor and this. Maybe after all, Adam Lambert is a real threat to all autotunes . With a weak live singer diss one of the most powerful live singer in history, I hope this AL won't damage the credibility of being a judge on the Voice. Always love our boy's tweets , so sweet of him.

Please guys, calm down. Adam Levine is AWESOME and I promise, I am the HUGEST Adam Lambert fan (I choose to believe that Levine really had never heard the song). I love that Adam Lambert was covered on The Voice, which is my new favorite show. And IMO, Nakia did a great job covering WWFM but puh-lease, nobody can compare to Adam Lambert.

Stop defending IDOL, lest you forget that was the show in which Adam Lambert LOST to (ugh) Kris Allen. The VOICE is MUCH better and Levine is a great judge. AI has a ridiculous voting bloc of southern conservative Christians (If the frontrunner for the whole show is a country or country-ish singer, that person will win in the end like Carrie, and really a country singer vs country singer in the last season? BO-RRRINGG; if the frontrunner does NOT appeal to that voting bloc, the underdog will win like Kris)...

The people voting on The VOICE have gotten it correct thus far. SO PLEASE, AI fans, stay FAR, FAR AWAY from The Voice... Do not watch it and do not vote or you will ruin it like you have AI. Thank you.

..and the disappointment in media was obvious that it wasn´t an Adam/Xtina collab and THAT is what bothers Levine. I think he was trying to be funny. Of course he knows the song and who sang it. He said it TWICE that he hadn´t heard it like he really wanted to make sure everyone got the point. It was a dumb joke but WWFM got a boost on ITunes so all is good.
Someone on twitter said Adam had been on Levines halloween party or something. If so, of course he knows him.
Wasn´t it Ceelo who tweeted some homophobic shit recently. Maybe chosing WWFM was his attempt to apologize.
Sir Elton is following Adam on twitter.

This is not about A1 or Voice this is about adam Levine being disrespectful and I believe lying. Fans will not lose Adam Lambert music connections - music industry lined up to give him their songs on his first album! There will be queues around the door in future albums if he chooses. Music industry want/will want to cash in on his fans etc because they are fickle business - Voice already cashing in on his fans for ratings. It is so obvious Adam Levine must have known this song - he is crap judge.

But got pissed anyway. I know it´s not wise to bash another band or artist here. And our Adam also seems to like the band. Sorry!

Anonymous said...

You know, I had kind of been becoming an Adam Levine fan before this, although in the past maroon 5 was just peripheral in my vision, but this obvious SLAM (please, people, of course he knows WWFM, he is in the industry and it was a Grammy-nominated song, and all over the airwaves, and Adam sung it on Oprah, Ellen, Leno, Idol, endlessly... plus PINK wrote it, duh).

I think Levine was trying to make a wise-ass crack, and just came off looking like a major, arrogant, jealous idiot. Hasn't heard of AML? He will now. Hell hath no fury. He'd be LUCKY if he had fans this invested...

Anonymous said...

From Adam's tweets above...he certainly didn't take it as a joke; he even tried to calm his fans. Whatever, it's an indirect compliment to our Adam, that someone who has carved a niche for himself in the music industry feels uncomfortable about Adam's aura.

@Anon at June 21/9:35PM & CT - i agree with you both. IMHO Nakia did a great job covering one of the most beautiful songs in the music world today. I will never compare Nakia to Adam, it isn't necessary. We should be thankful enough that Adam's song was given another excellent exposure in a very popular tv show. I also appreciate the fact that Nakia did his own interpretation of WWFM and he pulled it off because he took the cue from Adam. Singers should always internalize the lyrics of any song in order to give justice to it. Nakia did a fine job and i'm proud of him.

It is good enough that he used Adam's song, another free publicity that reminded thousands of viewers again of AML. @glitzylady thank you so much for your informative posts :D The gains for Adam overshadows the negative remarks so it's all good in the end!

Congratulations Nakia for your heartfelt rendition of WWFM, i believe you made Adam proud and happy.

For Adam Levine, i'm sorry but i'm not really familiar with you, must be generation gap so i have no right to judge you.

OH 24/7 any chance you can update this post with Adams version so we can have a side by side comparison?? Just a thought.

@4:34 AM .... Whataya Want From Me doesn't do Adam justice and that you hope he comes with better material on his next album. Hello! Adam's For Your Entertainment album is FANTASTIC - all of it - and Whataya Want From Me was a HUGE success around the world, ditto If I Had You plus the For Your Entertainment single.

I will never tire of listening to the album. Love love love it and to me, it has a song for everyone and for every mood.

WWFM is a worldwide hit, can't believe the limited music knowledge of these judges. Even though it is a fact, don't they do some homework before the show try to give the best advise for the contestant? Do judges get pay on reality show? Or it just all about promoting themselves.

Anonymous said...

Judges get paid HANDSOMELY on reality shows .... mega mega bucks!! And promoting themselves is a bonus!!

Maroon 5 is a band.

Even my dentist has heard of Adam Lambert and WWFM, and he's a fan.

Neither I nor he live in the U.S.

Adam's fame is known around the world.

more people haven't seen wwfm than those who have, fact. it doesnt matter if your hubby, dentist, dog or whatever might have heard it...

Anonymous said...

If Nakia could make A.Levine like WWFM, he would be blown away if he heard Adam sing it live. So his take that WWFM is a song that "would have otherwise fallen flat" is an unfair statement because he has not heard Adam sing it. When Adam sings any song he makes it come 'alive' and thus changes the whole perception of the song and certainly would not have fallen flat.

What Levine thinks of WWFM is neither here nor there with me. He's hardly anyone notable in the music industry.

Anonymous said...

Well... Just heard this nakia sing WWFM, congrats to you for being on the voice & singing, he saaaang it, but I could definitely tell there's only one person who that song was meant for, Adam . Even for Pink, it was just another song. But when Adam sings it , you can feel he is really asking you "whatdaya want from me?" Adam does this when he sings all of his babies , he's actually talking to us. Adam tells a story, he's seducing us with his voice & with each word, he just knows how to SING!!!!! Mwah!! K

Anonymous said...

Cee Lo said during the intro that it was an Adam Lambert song. I assume that the judges hear the intro.

Anonymous said...

look so what if WWFM was GRAMMY nomited, there where hundreds of them, and im quite you havent heard all of them or neither you know every maroon 5 song, amirite?

Anonymous said...

Nakia is on Cee Lo's team, not Xtina's as is indicated at the top. Adam's team went up against Cee Lo's team. Though I think Nakia has an okay voice and all, he was flat on this song, no doubt about it. I didn't hear anything that was said because I didn't watch last night, but Adam Levine likes to kid around with the other judges the same as they do with him. I am sure he is very well aware who Adam Lambert is. Adam Levine has no reason to be jealous: he's a great artist himself. Sometimes I think certain Lambert fans like to take things to the extreme on every little thing that is said. It's just not that big of deal.

Anonymous said...

WWFM was the biggest US (#10) and International hit on the album. I think WWFM is close to the type of song Adam Levine might sing. I don't like the acoustic GNT live version, but I like the original in the Moscow gig recently.

Anonymous said...

What I don't like about the music industry in US, they use Adam Lambert's name and passion of the Glambert to boost for other "musicians" or "TV show rating" and seldom give credit to him. Why don't they use their own fanbase and twitter for their own work?

Anonymous said...

@-Lam-my

What you said is very logical....have our Adam sing live, WWFM, and then let Adam Levine decide, in his opinion, if WWFM is a song that "otherwise would have fallen flat" Of course this is just a fantasy. Sorry, I'm still feeling annoyed at Adam Levine for his insensitive remarks.

CT

Anonymous said...

They justify this trial Lavine, if it were true that he knew WWFM, nominated for a Grammy, otherwise it is absurd, he would have to also hear from the original version, all the wonderful arrangements that made Adam's Song increasingly behind it. This comment becomes a positive thing for Adam, because it's great that other singers, put all his love to play their music, recognition and admiration for this superstar, this favors his career and continues today.
ADAM LAMBERT charismatic and beautiful artist, is possessed of a prodigious and extraordinary voice, a voice with the vocal power and sensitivity that seduces you can not forget!!

Finally I saw for myself Adam Levine say you-know-what and I definitely don't believe him; he garbled his words a bit and had to like "think" about what he wanted to jab :( He must have heard "Whataya Want From Me" before!!! It's on the radio at least 3 times a day, was a Grammy nominee, performed on American Idol, etc.... Pretty irritating, but it's absolutely adorable that the Glamily is extremely heated and Adam Lambert tweeted for us to calm down <3 hehehh ;)
Nakia did pretty well: I really loved his stage vibe and personal emotion worked throughout the song. The only thing that kind of annoyed me about his performance is that he didn't sing all the lyrics correctly :\ but it's alright; he made it his own ^-^ Nothing could ever beat Adam Lambert though <3
However, back to the "Adam v. Adam" issue... I think we Glamberts need to chill. So what if Adam Levine said something "stupid;" these things happen all the time, so let's just have NOH8 all around. It's not nice to see that people are insulting him now and saying things like "he sings like a girl" and such; "don't fight fire with fire" please :c Maroon 5 is a really great band, and even though I am a straight up Glambert forever, I don't think it's nice to pick sides and hate on Maroon 5 - I am still a fan of them.
Besides, if it is true that Adam Levine never heard "Whataya Want From Me" before, it's his loss :P

This is bullshit. Adam Levine knew very well what he was doing!! Even if he had not heard the song before he would have known it was sung by Adam Lambert for sure and this in itself is disrespectful to cast such a comment without even hearing it.

So Levine I think your songs are sung better by someone else even though I have not heard them by you?? How would you like it??

Adam Lambert and Adam Levine share the same first name, maybe that is why Levine made his snarky remark. one Adam out singing another. take that Levine!

Anonymous said...

The actual song Whataya Want From Me isn't a big fave of mine but Adam sings it brilliantly. It's as though it was written for his voice alone. Maybe that's the reason P!nk gave him the song because she thought his voice was perfect for it and it is. It brought him a Grammy nomination which is pretty special as he's only a relatively new artist. Of all the versions I've heard, I like Adam's acoustic version (the one he recorded in Germany) the most. I've yet to hear anyone sing this song anywhere near Adam's wonderful versions. He really is the master of this song.

Anonymous said...

Do you think one Adam is contacting the other to call the "dogs" off? It's not that he might not have know who originally sang WWFM. It's the FACT he said his guy sang it better than the original. That's what is totally tacky and unnecessary to say on a ntaionwide show. And I do believe he knew exactly what he was doing, and I do believe he's a selfish threatened AH.

Anonymous said...

June 22, 2011 8:48 AM - I know I shouldn't laugh but that cracked me right up!! :D

I think we're like a lioness protecting her cub - the cub being Adam. <3

Anonymous said...

Oh PUHLEEZ!! How would Levine 'PROBABLY' know whether Nakia sang it better than the original if he hadn't heard it before. That's a contradiction in terms.

Ahhhh, but the point is, Nakia didn't sing it as well or better than the original. That is blatantly obvious but it was a good effort.

Anonymous said...

Well, I think the majority didn't like the acoustic WWFM, just like the majority didn't like the Adommy. Now we have Adommy "cult" in this fandom and because of them Adam might have to keep his private life very private from now on.

Anonymous said...

@9.53am

How do you know that the majority didn't like the acoustic WWFM? I heard people raving about it, not saying they didn't like it.

Adommy

I keep well out of that but most importantly, Adam has the right to always keep his private life very private.

The majority are those who bought the album and the single. The single sold a couple of million copies. There are more of them than just the GNT concert goers.

Peeps! Adam Levine never said he had never heard of Adam Lambert. He just said he had never heard "that song". As Juneau and Xena put it "Really, all he is guilty of is something I could have been accused of a few years ago: a failure to pay attention to American Idol and Top 40 radio."

I just don't think he listens to the radio stations that play Adam's music. Honestly, I rarely hear it compared to Katy Perry, Lady Gaga etc. Let's follow Adam's lead in his latest tweets and be happy in knowing that surely Adam Levine will pay more attention to Adam Lamberts music from now on. He will quickly realize AML's music is NEVER flat!

Just a thought to Adam Levine...change your new song titled "Moves Like Jagger" to "Moves like Lambert"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like both versions of WWFM--actually anytime Adam sings it, it's different. That's part of his genius. The entire accoustic LP is brilliant. I listen to it over and over along with the GlamNation CD. If anyone on this list hasn't purchased the DVD from Adam's tour, you need it. The DVD comes along with a CD that you can play anywhere, and the versions of the songs you love are totally amazing. Sleepwalker will knock your socks off. Almost all the stores have it now, but I think you still have to order the Blueray version.

Anonymous said...

Here's Adam Levine's response to all of this:

"I had honestly never heard that song before. I thought that @nakia made me like a song that would have otherwise fallen flat. I'm NOT sorry."

I can understand why he's never heard of Whataya Want From Me. Between touring, recording, working on The Voice and God knows what else he does, he just hasn't had time to go on iTunes.

I think the fans should just calm down an get over it already. Levine didn't mean any harm, our Adam isn't offended and no actual disses between the two artists were exchanged.

Don't worry about Adam's private life. It's HIS private life and I'm sure he can look after it all on his own.

Anonymous said...

@ 11:32

?? Why ?? Is it because they've been apart a couple of weeks? S was in London with A 2 weeks ago. S said he'll be in Finland 3-4 weeks. Only 3 weeks have gone. No one has spotted Sauli in Finland in many days. He might be in LA already.

Anonymous said...

Oh no, please don't start fretting about Adam's personal life and turn it into a big drama that people want to resolve. Leave Adam and his personal life alone. It's none of our business.

MiMi said...

Adam is indeed a class act, but "WWFM" is Adam's song and NO one comes close.

Anonymous said...

I wouldn't worry about Adam and Sauli. The boys have been apart for just a couple of weeks, previously they've been apart for longer periods of time and were just fine. Sauli has told in recent interviews that he's very happy (and moving to USA) and Adam doesn't sound unhappy either. Sauli's job in LA starts in August, so plenty of time to move there. If you're in love, a few weeks won't change how you feel.

Anonymous said...

11:16AM LOL that very same argument has been going around since before Adam was even off Idol. I forgot about it for awhile,it's an old urban myth.

Anonymous said...

Adam Levine won't hurt Adam Lambert one bit. Adam Lambert is a class act and can handle this. Levine was just spouting off the cuff, I think. Spouting "judges" chatter without much thought. I'm not putting much into it. Please, Glamberts, don't be so obsessive that we look like dopes. Fan behavior does spill over into other people's attitudes toward that artist. As for Sauli, I don't see why anyone thinks they're breaking up or anything. They're not joined at the hip. They're grown men. I think they're still together, just not physically right now. PS I didn't know who Levine was either, till The Voice.

Adam seems quite busy with the 2nd album and it's really nice of Sauli to give him some space to work on it properly. They were in London together 2 weeks ago and after that Adam's been in Miami before LA. A hard working man I must say. Hopefully the new album will be a huge success, even bigger than the first one. Adam so deserves success, such a talented man. It's actually quite sweet how protective Glamberts can be at times like these. But as Adam himself said, it's all good. He truly is a gentleman.

- NO F--king way, not even close, nothing compared to Adam "THE VOICE" Lambert's performance of Whataya Want From Me, ANY of them (and I've heard/listened most of them)
- Adam (the one and only AFL) sings so EFFORTLESSLY, this Nakia (name sounds almost like NOKIA!) guy’s voice sounds forced… They said in the program that he is a blues singer, so be it, but he’s not my cup of tea… sorry!
- Mr. Levine, go change your first name! And then go back to being “Moron 5”…or better yet, don’t sing at all, your voice is irritating…
- if somebody truly can sing WWFM better than Adam Lambert, I’ll be the first to acknowledge it… promise!

No matter what Adam Lambert sings in the future from his second album and all subsequent ones, I think WWFM will be his "keynote" song. I can identify it just from the first note that Monte plays on the guitar. Each time he sings it, Adam does it differently. Remember his performance on AI when he mentored the contestants? It is my favorite song from his album and whenever I hear it on the radio, I just feel so good listening to it and have to sing along. So glad that Pink gave that song to him because I think that's what has started him on the road to success in his music career after American Idol. I think that his management/record company should have released one or two other singles from FYE instead of dropping the ball on that. It seems that Gaga, Katy Perry, Beyonce, Riahanna, etc. just release one single and video after another and I can't understand the reasons behind not doing one or two other songs from Adam's first album. He did have IIHY, but I never really heard it played on radio. The video for that was terrific also. Can't wait for the sophomore album and hope that a single will be released prior to the actual date for the album to drop in the fall. The only Adam I am interested in is named Lambert; Levine will always be second in comparison to him.

did you all ever think that the likes of Levine may have wanted to start something to make us fans look like a bunch of hooligans and we may have just took the bait. Like when Adam was on the American Music Awards and they kept saying Adam Lambert up next with an outragous performance and when he did they played dumb and acted like it was a big f----g suprise. I really think a few would like to discredit him. Let's not do any more damage fans. Let's be wise in our words and our defenses. Sometimes you have to whisper to be heard. Think about it? Let Adams talent and voice speak for itself. It can not be denied...let us help lift him to the stardom he has coming and be a class act fan base he can be proud of.
