Stay smart is the key word, many people foolishly go out and challenge the waves on surf boards and in kayaks. Hurricanes are not a ride at a theme park. A category 1 storm is not the worst that can happen, be sensible. Water damage is inevitable but not always deadly.
Please be smart and your chance of being safe is much greater.....an experienced Floridian!

We're still waiting here in New England but have taken all precautions.

Thanks, BB and glamily.

I am in Hartford, Connecticut area and we are getting non stop rain. The wind isn't that bad. With this situation we will get flooding on the roads which is a problem since CT roads tend to be winding and narrow. I'm just staying indoors for now. Thanks so much for all the good wishes, and stay safe fellow glam new englanders!

Yeh, stay safe. Been watching it on the news, Looks pretty bad in places. We don't get hurricanes here, but get typhoons which I think are pretty much the same just a different name, but not really had a big one this year yet. They don't seem to cause too much damage anymore though since all the shanty towns have been demolished, very few deaths anymore. And we don't seem to get too much building damage, but all our buildings are concrete not wood which probably helps. In fact, my 4th child is named after the typhoon that hit 2 days after he was born, it was a T10, which is the highest rating and means a direct hit on HK..

Did you see Adams tweet after this one, to Benny Blanco who asked if anyone had been caught having sex by the maids in the hotel...Adams answer...yes!!!!

glitzylady said...

@HK fan
Yes, saw that "Hotel Sex" tweet...It sparked quite the "lively" discussion between some other "Adam friends" and myself last night..."Would you rather be that maid OR whoever was on the receiving end...". so to speak......And of course the next logical question: Who was he with?? (We'll never know...) Pretty hilarious really! And just imagine how embarrassing that was for all involved!

Funny how one simple word, in this case "yes", from Adam can be the beginning of many a conversation and send the imagination off into flights of fantasy. Gotta love him!

Adam Lambert speaks, we listen.... ; )

Just sat down for the first time at the computer today here in northeast NJ. Water in basement. Sump pump and wet vac been on since 3am. I am tired so I just had to take a break to check out this blogsite to see the latest on someone who can brighten up this day. I'm a bit too old to do all this clean up but never too old to listen to Adam or read the latest. Thank goodness that it's over here and the sun was actually out for a while. I need to rest!

Thank you Glamberts for all your prayers. I live at the Jersey shore but inland. We were very lucky and received very litte damage from Hurricane Irene. We had a lot of tornado warnings last night and lost power briefly but on the immediate coast they didn't fare so well. Those shore towns have serious flooding and beach erosion and damage to their beach houses. Glad it's over and we can get back to normal, and concentrate on Adam!

To all the glamberts who were affected from Hurricane Irene we hope that you are all okay????

Talked to relatives in CT near the shore. Wasn't as bad as they predicted. Some power outages and fallen trees but everyone is safe.

Thanks to Adam,Tess4ADAM,Delilah5 & all other glamberts(or gambert outlaws?) for your concern and prayers for the ones in Irene's path.We ended up getting a cat.2 here in Newport,NC.No power since Friday night;went to a friend's house & in 4-5 hrs.,HER power went out.We still stayed for 2 the nights there,& came home about 9am today..power was on,but no internet service,T W phone service,or TV...that just came back on,thank goodness.The worst thing was the heat when we had no power..it was HOT!!We got drenched when we left our house Friday.The traffic lights have been out,the gas pumps,not working either.I hope they will all be fixed soon.Thanks again everybody!!Adamfan711

@Adamfan711 ...
Thank goodness you are safe!! .. from all reports on the TV here ... if it wasn't for the fact that NC got so badly hammered by Irene & it stayed so long on shore there it wasn't able to regain its power when it continued up the coast so that by the time it got to NYC the winds had diminished considerably & it was downgraded to a cat. 1 & then again to a tropical storm as it continued on its path ... I hope everything returns to a semblance of normalcy VERY soon & I am still praying for all that were affected by this horrendous storm. GOD Bless you all ... Love .. Light 'n Prayers

How typically thoughtful of Adam to think of others, which is another reason why we love him so much! His parents should be so proud to have raised such a wonderful child!

Although the hurricane was downgraded it was very serious in VT for those who had to be evacuated because of the flash flooding of nearby rivers. My daughter and family had to leave their home and the whole area (a beautiful tourist town) is without power not to mention the flooded streets. My son who works in NYC is still trying to get back to his home near NY because of flooding. Its been exhausting just worrying and trying to communicate.

It will be great to see the sun and get back to normal and get back to waiting for this new CD.

Tess4ADAM,thanks for your kind words again( so glad you're ok.).The storm seemed like it was @ least a cat 3 one(like you said)cause it stayed so long..We got the east side,the eye,then the west side.I've been thru hurricanes that were in a higher category,but they moved thru quicker.That was sweet of Adam to send out his concerns, & also to stay SMART. Some surfers stayed until the police made them leave Friday.They had no lifeguard,but could have put somebody else in great jeopardy anyway or their own life alone.The riptides were very bad.To anybody else who is still being affected by Irene,I'm pray things will be better soon~Adamfan711

Two hurricane surfers drowned in Florida. It could have been even more since many headed from west coast over to east coast to ride the waves.
So sad and foolish. Their poor families.

I wish there was something more I could do to help those affected by Irene besides sending Prayers & Good thoughts. Is there a fund that we can contribute to even if only a small amount but at least I would feel like I was helping somehow. Does anyone know? Love 'n Light

I live on the East Coast and we prepared and helped others to prepare. We were under a tornado warning and I spoke to my son who was very close to the spotted tornado...cannot really describe how scared you get that your whole world can change in a minute and you are powerless to do anything. Fortunately, we came through. The next hour and a half we lost power and our basement began to flood so we were bailing water with the help of a small generator...we opened our windows because of the heat and fumes...what a night. Had a battery-operated radio on to hear news. Thank you Adam for remembering us. I have a new understanding for those hit by hurricanes and devastation. Although my experience was minimal in comparison it really makes you aware of how fragile life is when faced with things out of your control. Thanks for all prayers and good wishes because they really do mean much more that anyone realizes.

I just flew back to Charlotte from Chicago from 2 funerals and while there another family members fiancee was killed in an auto accident,also being a newly wed. A very good friend lost her husband in Florida the week before. I didn't have access to a computer, but was worried about many of you being in harms way. I'm sorry for the flooding and losses, but glad you and your families were spared worse losses. I had a cousin in the Fl. Keys that was spared, as well as my 2 daughters in South Fl.my nephew and his family in Union Beach, NJ who just lost his Dad in Chicago. My neice who is 7 mo. pregnant is in Virginia Beach and is ok. Her husband, my nephew was in Haiti on the USS Comfort Navy Humanitarian ship and is now on the way to New York. They moved him to the west side of Haiti away from the storm when it passed. I don't ever remember so many disasters in such a short time. The earthquakes in NZ and Japan, the Norway tragedy, etc. I'm ready to go to bed and hide under the covers! I'm just very grateful that it wasn't worse. It's going to take me awhile to catch up on all that I've missed the past 2 weeks. I still have much to do for family and those with hurricane damage have to deal with their hardships also. I'm definitely ready for some Adam & Sauli sunhine! My plane also had a landing glitch. We were coming in to land and the pilot had to pull up and stay in the air for 15 more minutes as there was a plane on our runway that wasn't supposed to be there. Think I've had enough excitement for awhile and brain is too tired to think. 'Nite all...Hope to be more cheerful tomorrow. funbunn40

I'm so glad to have you back, we've been missing you and Sister and Fan4fun. 2011 has been a year of many dark clouds around the globe and for some, like you, personal losses. I hope the next few months of the year will ease up on tragedies.........Welcome back.............JAK

I have many family members and friends who live in and all over California. Phone lines went down in a severe thunderstorm in The Bay Area and my daughter called me because she couldn't reach her husband at work. I called him to find out how he was and to let him know she and the kids were ok. Then I called her back to let her know he was ok. So, now instead of the designated driver, I am the designated caller. All family and friends have my number and I have all numbers where they can be reached just in case ... one never knows. I can relay messages for them. When numbers change they email me with the new info which is kept in a special little black book.

OT...@Tess4Adam, Jak, Adamluv, Thanks so much for the kind words. It's so nice to know that you're missed and I appreciate it. Is Fan4fun alright? I haven't had a chance to go back in the archives. Hope all on this site are ok. Wish our outsides were as strong and vigorous as our insides! At least Adam is keeping our inner spirits alive and well! So many out there still are dealing with the aftermaths of these world disasters. I just was blindsided with so many losses so close together. It all seemed so surreal and I had to leave so quickly. So many family members all up the northeast coast that seemed to be in the direct path were so lucky and I'm very grateful. California has had so many disasters too in recent times. I still remember seeing the collapsed overpass in SF near Fisherman's Wharf years ago. It was a sobering sight. @ 5:11PM, Our family also has a central family member, actually two that are the designated callers. Whenever we moved to a new house we would have a fire drill. The kids always knew what to do and where to go. I had a big house in Charlotte that was 3 stories high. I had 4 rope ladders for the upstairs kids bedrooms. Fortunately we never had a fire and never had to use them. I'm now in a ranch style smaller house with no more need for "disaster training!" My job is done. lol funbunn40

Fan4fun had to have resection surgery for diverticulitis, so we have all been praying hard for her recovery. You will know how serious this can be. My Mom was lucky and had a successful surgery and outcome. We have heard nothing from her, I'm hoping her neighbor or one of the boys she took in will know how to let us know how she's doing.........she's had more than her share of physical problems recently....JAK

@funbunn40, I too am very concerned about @fan4fun and wish we could receive news on how she's doing. ... Adamluv

OT..@ JAK and Adamluv, I hope Fan4fun is recovering and we will soon get some news. She has had more than her share of major health issues and personal upheavals. I wish we could do something for her, like sending Adam to her bedside with a big bow and songs to ease her mind and heal her body. Prayers and healing energy are all we can do right now. I, like you are concerned and so sorry that she has so much on her plate. She has such a fun loving, creative mind. Wish I knew what hospital she was at in the Azores or the name of the island so we could somehow let her know we are pulling for her and have her in our thoughts. My mother had a foot of intestine removed in her 80s and did very well without any further complications. Fan4fun had the added stress of fluid around her heart and hopefully that was well addressed. Wish we could get Adam to send her get well wishes. It would give her such a boost. Hope P.A.S. Tess4Adam and all on this site that have serious health problems are strengthened by the unity on 24/7 and feel the care and concern. Adam has given us the gift of each other as well as his beautiful voice and spirit... I'm so glad to be a part of all of you caring, wonderful peeps. funbunn40
