POLL – Idol Judge’s Seat a Win or Not for ADAM LAMBERT?

If offered the job as an American Idol judge, should ADAM accept?

Please post your opinion here:

These were the best ever! Adam was fantastic. When yhou get the greatest singer, greatest guirtarist and drummer in the world, what could be better? Absolutely nothing!

About Adam on AI, yes, because he would be great and it would boost his career, but no, unless they get someone like Mariah Carey, otherwise, it is on it's way out!

I got teary eyed at the end of I Want to Break Free when Brian embraced ADAM. This is an amazing night of concert. I'm very happy for ADAM. Thank GOD!

Whoa! Dragon Attack...my Bird of Paradise...thanks GLB, lol! This is the first close-up front/back view of the ruby-red dragon jacket; it fits Adam's persona to a T! The only thing is, in this performance, he 'goes to the loo' and I have to wait and wait but alas he doesn't return on stage...lol! I think very high viewership on these videos is causing them to stop and start many times; but the sound reproduction is good. The audience clearly is into Adam's high notes, applauded him specifically on Dragon Attack high notes. :)

Some of the videos have much better sound than some. These tonight are all pretty darn good!I HOPE that Queen & Adam CAN do a concert or two in the US.If BB gets the Idol gig,he could still do @ least one concert( Trespassing one),I think;I hope.SO they fixed Adam's leather pants?or that may be an extra pair..It was just a seam, tho, wasn't it?I wisn BB all the luck in the world,& hope whatever happens is for the best!

Had a lovely Saturday evening watching these video's of Adam and Queen. Diddly squat on TV these days, went on the computer and checked out the concerts in London. Sat back, cracked open a beer and was thoroughly entertained. Would love to see Adam in concert, what a performer and show man and amazing vocals. Oh please have Adam and Queen perform in America and Canada on tour. Oh Adam you made my night, what more does a woman want, love this guy.

This last show was Adam's finest night of them all, though all were great! I feel like I am going to go into withdraw from Adam and Queen together so hoping for a U.S. appearance in the future. Of course I will rewatch all the vids tons of times. I feel so proud of Adam and so happy that he had this amazing experience. Also knowing it was an amazing experience for Brian and Roger also. So much love and admiration between them all!

@MattHill_666 Of course there won't be another Freddie but @adamlambert has got Hammersmith in the palm of his hand right now.

Concert was amazing. Adam looked amazing and sounded amazing. My first concert of Adam . Wish it was Adams own concert though. Although the show was absolutely great. I was hoping I was in a Trespaaing concert. He maybe won the crowd but it's really Queens songs won the history. Adam is a solo artist and I like the most his over the top and own it on the stage.
He was doing a perfect quest performance. However, it's sad to watch while he was singing on the runway and audience was cheering to Queen on the stage not direct to him. I doubt how much of queens fans will appreciate or interest in Trespassing. The CD was selling 10 pound while queens t-shirt was 25.
It was a great time. And Adam should focus on Tresapassing from now on.building own legendary history one day. As a glambert, I was proud.

Anonymous said...

Whoa! Adam's powerful voice is back on...The Show Must Go On...Adam has put his stamp on some Queen songs exclusively; how is anyone able to top them after Adam! I hear a lot of male shouts of approval as opposed to the usual girls' screams which are there too. Yea I'm much looking forward to Adam singing and performing his Trespassing songs in concert. He feels and looks sexier performing his own songs because they expound his inner self and outer as well...hmm lol! But the Queen+Adam concert is indeed very beautiful and well thought through. Brian and Roger visibly, love and respect Adam a lot and Adam loves them, especially Brian. Courtesy of Anon7:50, on previous thread, for a very touching photo of a Brian-Adam hug, in his glittery zebra-pants. :)

Adam's tour is not contingent on US album sales -- it is contingent on potential for concert ticket sales and to a lesser extent on global album sales. He is selling out the US promotional concerts and has a proven track record as a concert draw based on GNT. No reason to believe it will be any less ambitious than GNT.
A post on another site:

"ADAM's album is selling quite well in the UK -- sold out everywhere on Monday -- the first day. They are restocking HMV locations on Friday and many shops in London are keeping lists of people who want the album. It will make the Top 10 here but would have charted higher if you could actually buy the CD. Many fans had to purchase the CD at the Queenbert concerts because that is the only place that has them --
and these sales DO NOT COUNT on the UK Chart!

Anonymous said...

Whoa Whoa Whoa! Adam...Your best...Who Wants To Live Forever...you'll live forever in people's hearts and minds...this one got Adam a double huge applause. I like the British audience, they know when to applaud most and also no screaming all over at the wrong places. Well, this performance certainly will live forever. So beautiful! :)

i don't know what concert you were watching, but the 2 Hammersmith shows I went to, the crowd were totally into Adam. At no point were they ignoring him and cheering Queen, he got the loudest, and longest cheers all evening, longer and louder even than the cheers for Roger and Brian during the intros, and this was a queen crowd he was playing for. He well and truly won them over.
The videos do not do the atmosphere justice, it was absolutely electrifying in there.

i was lucky enough to be at this concert last night, and let me just say that it was undoubtedly the best thing i have ever seen! and my parents were there too, who both agreed with me (thats saying something since theyve been to a LOT of concerts!). it was heartwarming to see the interaction between Adam and Brian and Roger. it was obvious that some Queen fans were sceptical at the start about Adam, but by the end they were obviously huge fans. it hasnt really sunk in how lucky i am to have seen it yet!

WATCHING AND LISTENING TO ADAM PERFORM LIKE THIS IS SUCH AN U-N-R-E-A-L EXPERIENCE, all the time I keep asking myself, am I imagining this, is he for real, is he truly that beautiful, isn't there anything he can't do with his voice, and OMG, how THOSE EYES mesmerize...how that MOUTH oozes sexyyy...how that BODY and those movements (without going into specifics, hmmm, lol)...

And then there are these UNEARTHLY, straight-to-your-core MOMENTS, like when he sings WWTLF, that are MAGICAL, SPIRITUAL...

MY WARMEST GREETINGS to ALL here in 24/7 Paradise!

GGD Gal, totally, but RIGHT NOW oh so joyously EXHAUSTED

@5:52 AM - there are times that I want to cry cause Adam's album is not doing well..and I do not understand it..when the likes of the VERY untalented Justin Beiber, Taylor Swift. LAFAO, Gym Class Heroes..etc..sell the hell out of their music..and Adam sings circles around all of them..ALL the time..he is far more beautiful than Freddie Mercury could ever have hoped to be, with a personality that puts that of Freddie to shame..Adam has more talent, in many areas, that most of the celebs in the business have today, yesterday, and by God..tomorrow..CAN YOU TELL HOW MUCH OF A FAN I AM????

9:23 I respectfully totally disagree- I was at 2 shows the thurs night about 5 rows back on the floor and surrounded by die-hard Queen fans. of course they showed respect to queen members, but when Adam was out front and on the runway all eye were on Adam. the queen fans loved him and looked at Brian to see his reaction to Adam's singing was priceless. you can look at any video or pic and see ALL the eyes on Adam.

A marketing machine and an impulsive, hormone charged target demographic trumps talent everyday of the week outside of a few fortunate mold-breakers who find great success(Adele). Adam's not reaching/appealing to the most powerful music buying demographic: tens. He needs one good mega hit song (or a string of hits would be even better) to get on the radar so that he can achiever those Beiber and Swift-like sales numbers. Unfair as it may seem, the music industry is indeed a business first and Adam wouldn't be the first extremely talented artist to be outdone commercially by seemingly less talented artists.

Of course, consider that there are hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of struggling artist out there who'll never quite "make it" or make 6-figures and here Adam is performing with Queen, being considered to judge idol, and raising his profile, with nowhere to go but up. I doubt he's wanting for anything monetarily. Statistically, Adam is probably in the 1% of successful artist going right now, so for that we should all be happy.

Anonymous said...

Aretha Franklin? don't get me wrong she is the Queen of soul, and is in an American Icon, love her music, but I don't think she would appeal to the younger audience? From what I read she is just saying she would love to be a AI judge. I haven't read anything that said AI was wanting her, but who knows?

Doesn't matter to me personally, because if Adam is not a judge I wouldn't watch it anyway.

Anonymous said...

Adam can sing the shit out of anything....when he use his voice ex: Soaked....people don't want to hear it....so he does a Pop plus CD and people say he's not using his talented voice....WTF...if they listen to all Adam's recording then they can do a review....Adam is the most talented singer out there...

Anonymous said...

@6:37AM
Enough comparing Adam and Freddie. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if the same thing were said about Adam. Both fantastic singers with personality plus. Please be kind and leave it at that.

Anonymous said...

Aretha Franklin an AI judge?? She's an awesome singer but with respect, I think younger judges might be more the go INCLUDING Adam!

Adam's success may not be as wide as the instant success stories of Bieber, Adele, and those who might fit the one-hit wonder mold. Rant we might at the injustice of it all, given Adam's rare vocal gifts and otherworldly human and physical assets. However, when you guage the total picture, not just from the standpoint of commercial success, you cannot put a price tag on the true worth of Adam Lambert. What he has achieved in a short time is priceless--he has fought against odds that would have demolished other artists, and not only does he survive, he is thriving in ways that run deep. "Once I'm in I own your heart" describes his effect on people (compare that deep and abiding love to those for the others whose commercial appeal is based on the ephemeral and the whimsy. Adam's effect may not be wide in terms of numbers, but it is deep--fans forever as ascribed for Adam is a devotion that lasts, the roots taking hold at the intellectual, visceral, and spiritual levels. If you notice, "disappointed" , and"regretful" are not words he dwells on when referring to his sales. Adam does not want the aura of negativity around him; goodness there is so much directed at him even from the get go. But his force field is up, he's marching to his own drums, and he is doing phenomenally well. He has built a strong foundation of fervent fans worldwide, which can only result in a house of Adam more grand than anyone will ever imagine. When you compare what Adam now has, worldwide love and respect, against the appeal of others, commerce is but one criteria, the last domino to fall. Let's remember, quality always trumps quantity. atm

Nobody invited Aretha Frankin to be AI judge! She said that she would like to be new judge. Anyhow, somebody is trying to compare Adam and Freddie. Don't do it, please. Because you can be qualify as fanatic but not Adam Lambert fan. Also, time will show if Adam has such brilliant carrier as Freddie had! Have you ever seen Freeddie live show? I meant, have you even been on Queen concert when Freddie was alive?

Anonymous said...

You said it, 9:01. I'll take the tortoise over the hare any time. Adam has made it clear that he's not going to just fade into the sunset because he hasn't sold multi-million copies of his albums. He's not qualities beyond that incredible voice that will help sustain him for the long haul: looks, personality, intelligence, business sense, a view of the future, etc. etc. The U.S. listening public is completely clueless. Adam is an elite entity. Maybe, for some, he just sings too damn good. LOL. I'm not worried about the small picture. I'm still confident in the big one. BTW, TPing sales are damn good world-wide.

Aretha, a legend and a great singer, but too old for AI.

Miley, can't sing too well, but maybe still popular enough?

Mariah, wasn't she already announced at one of the replacements? Is that official?

Adam, wants it as a good advancement for himself. He's no fool. Knows the stigma, but also knows an opportunity when he sees it. I wish he didn't need it. I want him to be beyond it. I want him to be in a position to turn it down, like Katy Perry did. I don't want to watch that show anymore. But, if he's a judge, of course I will. Sigh.

I can't say enough as to how stupendous all the concerts were with Queen. A thought crossed my mind ( don't kick me) But it might be disapointing for Adam to go back to Tommy as his guitarist, since now he has had Brian May. He won't let Tommy go, he is too kind, but Brian May is so far superior, and so is Roger Taylor on the drums. His voice is going to carry the whole show each time.

Anonymous said...

Anne Marie, I'd bet a million bucks that Tommy knows full well what he is up against when he performs with Adam next. He knows that Adam has performed with some of the very best. His standards are high. I'll bet Tommy will be working hard to up his game. I think he's a good guitarist who perhaps has nver had to stetch himself to reach a very high standard. I think he can do it and be a real asset to Adam. Besides, he's damn cute and Adam really likes him (and vice versa).

I didn't know that Randy Jackson was Mariah Carey's manager! No wonder that he's willing to step aside to allow her to be judge. In the music biz, more than in any other field, it's more WHO you know and talent rather than talent alone. I wonder if Seacrest is consulted as to which judges will be retained. I never found him to be too warm to Adam's success. Maybe I'm wrong, hope I'm wrong if indeed he has a say in these matters. Lythgoe's not the one choosing new judges. Makes me happy.

JAK here.....I needed a break from Queen, it was hard to tear myself away, but I curled up in bed and listened to For Your Entertainment and Trespassing albums. Nice break. He truly can sing anything, can't he?

Idol possibility....if offered and he wants it he should take it. The show needs a def remake. As far as the thought of Aretha, no way. She's fantastic but this is a show looking for pop singers mostly so they need people who have been thru that grinder and survived, they also need a producer who knows what sells in performance.

It will be interesting to see if FOX is brave enough to go for a radical shake up.

I personally hope he's too busy and booked up to take the job!

Newfie Duck said...

Another EPIC concert as usual! With regards to judging Idol I, personally, think Adam should follow his heart and that being said, I hope his heart steers him away from this venture. Idol is a sinking ship and we wouldn't want him going down with it. Fingers crossed for great things to come his way.

on the lack of a hit off new album, we must remember that Adam did get a hit with WWFM, which was nominated for a Grammy...I went to movies today and they were playing the video of NCOE on a monitor and I was suddenly transported to "heaven" as I have not even heard it on the radio..yet...in the face of all we know..we do know how talented and beautiful in all ways our boy is - so I do believe that success will be his..My theory is that people turned off to him at the getgo (AMA's) and they chose not to follow him, buy his records, etc. people just have not given him the second look that he deserves..that he SO deserves..he really is a nice, geniune person..honest, lovely man..and hell yeah..he is a sexy beast..but don't they say "sex sells"?? I love him so very much and I have followed him now for over three years and I feel like I know him personally..of course, I will never meet him..and maybe I really just want to see him again in concert..if I were to actually get the chance to meet him..I would probably feel weird cause he wouldn't have a clue about me..and I would feel like he was part of my family..oh well..I am part of the Glamily...

The more I see of Adam Lambert, the more I want to see. I don't usually admit this, but I am 62 yrs old (definitely Queen era)and I think I have truly lost my mind. I would have given just about anything to have been in Kiev for that astonishing concert. Adam's never sounded better, Queen sounded great and, oh God, I could just sit and look at Adam, I believe forever. At least, until my eyes hold out.

Anonymous said...

9:23 - I was at the first two concerts, which definitely had the most exacting Queen fans in attendance. Most did not wait for the weekend. I was at the end of the catwalk on Thursday surrounded by Queen fans who were quite vocal about their concerns in the 90 minutes prior to curtain. They responded very positively imho.

I did notice that their viewfinders were on Brian a lot at the beginning but the two guys in front of me slowly shifted over to Adam pics as the show progressed.

Adam was very, very well received. Have to say, though, that I did not hear "Adam" chants either so there we are.

I wasn't there on the 14th so who knows?
