JAK here....it's always nice to hear a kind word and recognition for Adam....the Kiev Concert for AIDSBENEFIT.org is a pretty impressive expression of his charitable work along with Elton John and Queen. Hard to beat an audience of hundreds of thousands!

Totally agree with you JAK. It is always great to hear good things about Adam and his charitable work that often does not get publicized.

I too agree: It's nice to hear GOOD things about Adam.

This is great. All too often the wonderful things that celebrities do are overlooked. It would be great if Adam won the Do Something Award this year!

Now I'd like Kiev to do something for us. Since no word on a London Queenbert DVD, we know the Ukraine has a full concert video, would you, could you share? More money for the charity.!....JAK

Adam Lambert is "Artist of the Week" on this blog from France. Adam is not yet well known in France. This should help greatly as it's a very good article!

Hope Adam wins the Do Something Award. I have voted MANY times and continue to vote. It would be such great recognition. Didn't I hear that he's supposed to be a presenter at these awards? He is such a kind, generous person with a good heart. It needs to be acknowledged by many people beyond us die-hards.

Yay, for Artist of the Week in France! Hope France climbs on board the Adam Train big time!

I hope he wins the Do Something Award this year, but I am sooo proud he is recognized. He is a rock star with a heart of gold. I am a fan forever.

OT I know this is off topic and more relevant to the thread a few back. But had to say,to the people back there whos families, friends etc wont listen to Adam "because he is gay".
I have finally shut my husband up about this being a choice etc blah blah, since the news came out on our news bulletins last week, that Scientists/ biologists? (not sure) are very close to being able to do tests for homosexuality in the womb.
While I am not sure this is a good thing it does prove that this is nature not choice.
People need to accept this as they do any other difference to the "norm" Maybe like blindness deafness, extra talents for sporting prowess, singing, etc.
I know I probably havent put this as well as could be, but hope you get my point.

Jadam NZ, Isn't it nice when science backs up what gay people already know? When I get into these kinds of conversations, I usually say, "What about celibate gay people? Do you hate them, too?" Then they give me a funny look, because they equate being gay with having sex. Being gay is about who you are naturally attracted to, not necessarily who you have sex with. Straight people can be celibate; they're still straight. Gay people can be celibate; they're still gay. Having actual sex doesn't change that. Gay people marry straight people all the time, and vice versa. Have families, etc. People who "hate" gays always confuse the "doing" with the "being." You can BE gay without ever DOING a gay thing in your life. Hopefully, more people will become enlightened over time and the hate will cease.

BTW, My sister's stepdaughter is gay and my godson (grown up) is gay.) Thanks for your post. It shows that there is hope, though some people will believe what they want to believe regardless of facts.

Like the saying goes: "Facts are weak things when faced with human sensibilities."

On the subject of family not wanting to listen to Adam. When I went to see Adam at the Glamnation tour. My father took me and my cousin(She isn't a Adam fan but had been open to go). I had pit seats long story short during Music Again, Adam came up to our side of the stage and I was able to kind of slap his hand. I was so excited that after I told my father and I wasn 't allowed to be near him because of it. However he now sort of deals with it because he will listen to him in my car HAHAHA. Anne

You sound kind of young, but your father should be old enough to know that sexual orientation is not contageous. Neither are religious or political orientations.

Do you mean your Dad would catch something? I can't believe in this day anyone would think that!

I'm just wondering if with opening up of schools sales of Trespassing will go up. In business the biggest marketing product promotion is WORD OF MOUTH. Once kids go back to school they share their favorite songs.

Student Glamberts: share with your friends Adam's recent music videos and songs.

I wish I knew what he thinks but I don't. He is very old school on lots of things. But for my own father to be like I had to stay away from him made me upset. I love to wear my adam shirts and people have stopped me and told me I am one of them. Whatever I am proud and happy to be me and like who I wanna like. Sorry to tell you guys an un positive but when I read that post from another fan made me think of my dad and people in Grocery store I shop at. Hope Adam wins he does deserve it! Anne

Congratulations, Adam!! So glad you are getting recognition for all you do to help people all over the world. The sea of humanity in Kiev was so vast it made me cry to watch that footage-and to know Adam was being seen and heard by so many . I know it was recorded ,so I hope we can purchase it one day -and contribute even more to help curtail the spread of AIDS.
Also---I love how the French article described Adam's voice as "incomparable."

@Anon4:00PM - I can certainly sympathize with you. I am, of course, WAY older than you, but here's my story. As a young kid, I took my little brother to see 'A Hard Day's Night", yes, the Beetles (all 4 of them) and my father acted like I had ruined my little brother's mind for life! Moving on to current times - I went with my husband to Auto Zone recently (as a favor to him!) and he was positive he was getting strange looks from "the guys" because I had an Adam Lambert t-shirt on! Later that night, we were going to dinner at the local diner and my husband urged me not to wear Adam's t-shirt! Not a proud moment in my life, but I changed shirts! My husband is normally not like that, but I complied. Still the bad girl, still feeling guilty! I guess I'm a poor excuse for a fan. Just had to confess here.
Still feeling ashamed of myself,

I have NEVER seen an artist have to fight so hard to be recognized in his own country. Adam's song this week jumped from 10 to 7 on Billboard's Hot Dance tracks. You would think that the Hollywood Reporter would place emphasis on this feat. They barely mentioned it but they talked profusely about D. Archuleta's song on BB while he's at Mormon school. WTF???

Anonymous said...

Anon 5:50....no kidding. What the FUCK! I'm so tired of this ignorance and people being so tough on Adam. But you know, Adam is having a great career and he will continue to have great opportunities and I believe that in the not too distant future, he will be admired by everyone, for being the best singer, the best performer, the very nicest, truest to himself guy and people will be ashamed of themselves while Adam, will be chuckling saying "what the fuck took you guys so long" with that gorgeous smile. I really believe that he will go down in history. Like Paula said, "Adam, you are iconic". She knew, WE all knew. So we just have to stay the devoted fans that we are and stick with him forever. Now that is a task that I look forward to.

@6:58 Well put! When I speak about Adam to people and they say they don't like him I ask, do you think he sings well? The answer is always YES! So I know what bothers them about him and that is sad. He will come out on top. I have never seen such a positive determination like he has!

Anonymous said...

At that Billboard photos, both ADAM and ELVIS have blond hair. First time I actually saw Elvis with that blond color which I think is his natural color. Same as ADAM he also dyed his hair black.

be sure to watch the link from 4:41 comment. They are using Pop That Lock in a trailer.

@7:53 very cool that they are using Pop that Lock, one of my favorites, Somewhere they used Shady in the background, can't remember from where, would be nice if this happens in the U.S. too!

So neat to hear that ad with Pop That Lock in it. I assume Adam gets some $$$$ for them using it.
Thanks for the Grammy.com link and the Billboard.com link. Our boy is out there with the big names.

I think many of us never thought that, because of Adam, we'd become unofficial ambassadors for tolerance and understanding. He talks the talk and walks the walk every day of his life. He withstands a lot of negativity directed at him every day and does it with grace and class. I love hearing all your stories about facing prejudice and homophobia and trying, in some small way, to change people's attitudes. Baby steps!

@Jadam NZ- I so wish they would come out with facts on this issue. My husband and I fight about it all the time- he believes gay is a choice and I don't. I cannot even speak adam's name anymore to him because he know how much a fan I am for the last three years. It's so sad and what's sadder is when he goes on tour - I'll have to go alone because no-one I knows likes him. I'm a fan for life and just makes me want so bad to tell them all I told you so (when adam becomes a house-hold name and is iconic)

I feel sad to hear about some of your experiences when it comes to our Adam:(

7:59, You are not alone in this, unfortunately. Somehow, people equate being with being a bad person. Does your husband acknowledge Adam's vocal talent, or won't be even go that far? Have you asked your husband if it's his "choice" to be straight? I know, I know. None of these questions you may ask him will probably help at all. Just might upset him more. But it's the reason why so many people don't buy Adam's music, regardless of his talent or the quality of the music. Lots of people like other gay singers and even buy their music, but, for some reason, NOT ADAM. Does your husband like Elton John or any other gay singer? Does he single Adam out? I just can't figure out why many people accept other gay singers and buy their music, but they won't buy Adam's.

@DRG- At first on idol, my husband loved adam and yes he thinks his voice is awesome (well he did) now he says he screams. I believe unfortunately he is so turned off by him because I love him so and he knows it! Jealous, probably insecure probably, but what am I suppose to do- not be a fan- that's not happening. i have learned after all these years, I simply cannot talk about anything adam anymore. It sucks and sometimes I slip- but he's had it with my obsession (so to speak) I'm no different in my way of thinking than millions of other glamberts. His loss is my mindset now.

On that Billboard link above with Adam's picture No. 5, when you click on it at the bottom of the webpage you see Adam's and Elvis' pictures next to each and IMO our Adam is way prettier.

Jadam NZ said...

Brownie, your case is exactly the same as mine. Sadly it is their loss. I ll never stop being a fan just keep it to myself. I can discuss it with family and a few friends though but dont go overboard.
I do think it is a it of a jealousy thing in my case and so out of character for me to be so crazy about a singer. I guess it makes them insecure.
Crazy huh!
I can listen to Adams music occasionally and he chooses not to recognize it most of the time.
I just wish the findings I mentioned earlier would be more publicized. But at least it proved me right.
In spite of all this we have a long and very happy marriage and lovely family etc.

Jadam NZ said...

Also Anon 7.59 I know how you feel. I took my daughter with me last time and I know I ll find some one happy to go to the next concert.
One good thing he doesnt begrudge me the music or concert. Luckily, as I would still go anyway.

Anonymous said...

IMO Adam should have concerts at liberal universities where he is well accepted. Such as UCLA, UC Davis, UC Berkeley, NYU, etc. These universities don't have any kind of prejudices against others. From these places his music can spread like wild fire. MUSE got their fame in US cause they performed at numerous major US universities and their music is almost have never been played on US radios.

@7.57pm, they used Shady to advertise a programme on this same channel, AXN, its shown all over Asia. I've seen the Shady one, haven't seen Pop that lock yet, will keep my eyes open. NCOE and NCOE behind the scenes is still played most days on Channel V over here, and I was listening to HK internet radio the other day and heard NCOE. So all good in this part of the world.

:7.47pm, agree, usually the first comment people have, eww, but he's gay....really pisses me off. Although I was at a party last week talking to an American woman I'd never met before, got chatting about filmstars, then music, I mentioned Adam and she said, she thought he was really gorgeous with an amazing voice. So that made my night...

@7.59 pm
when Adam tours near you , you will never have to be there alone, when the time comes just put out a message on here, other blogs, the fansite, there will always be other fsns that will meet up with you.

@ Brownie, your husband seems exactly like mine...seems the more I like him, the less hubby does. He does think he has a great voice but goes to far with the screaming. He went to one of the Hammersmith shows with me, and while he really enjoyed it, he thought Adam went to far with the screaming on a few of the songs....he obviously has no musical taste whatsoever!!!And whilst he moans all the time about me being on the computer too much, he brought me a lovely new laptop for my birthday...and sometimes I see his fingers tapping away if an Adam song comes on in the car. He did like BTIKM when it came out.

Anonymous said...

I walk that walk and I don't give fuck. I blast Adam's album at home and in my car with windows down. I got thumbs up from couple of cars beside me.

Love you Adam and we will always support you no matter what!

I have read all of these comments about Adam people not standing up for him. to the lady with the jealous husband I had the same thing over Elvis if my husband walked in I had him on tv or radio it was a fight but I would not give in to him I didn't care what he thought he sure didn't ask me if I liked every thing he did the answer was no I did not. Adam Lambert is a very special person I have no problem standing up for what he believes because I believe in him. all I can is get some back bone & stand up for what you believe in it doesn't matter if gay is a choice or if you are born that way it is how they believe so be it. I will stand up for him no matter where I am at church, family, work thats how I feel thats how I believe & no body is going to tell me any different. Adam Lambert fan & proud of it.

Gosh, I'm glad I'm single, I don't have to answer to anyone and I'm free to enjoy Adam anytime!!

My sons are sick of my talk of Adam as if he were part of our family. Hubby as well as sons take the cd out as soon as they hear Adam's voice though they all do think he has a great voice. I have decided to be quiet about Adam since one of my sons said they might like him more if I wasn't so overboard about him. Well I have been holding my tongue for at least a year now though the music still gets played in the car whether they are there or not and they really don't want to hear it. Pisses me off really. If any of their friends listened to Adam's music they would change their minds in a heartbeat. We really have to get more young people to listen to Trespassing. I JUST DON'T GET IT.
I agree with anon 9:48. It's true. I have met and/or befriended many glamberts at concerts and meet n greets, not to mention here!

Anonymous said...

The problem is Adam is almost too good looking, so husbands get jealous, mind you if I had a partner who kept going crazy over a female celebrity then I might get a bit jealous too. Of course you can keep telling them how talented he is and how you just love his voice, but somehow I get the feeling that if Adam was a much plainer looking guy they wouldn't feel as threatened.

Anonymous said...

Nice to know I'm not alone. I have learned not to share tidbits I find amusing or encouraging about Adam's career. My husband bristles and I see steam coming out of his ears if I so much as speak Adam"s name. It's gone way past the eyerolling stage. He's not jealous of Adam that would be absurd, but I think he is jealous that I prefer to spend time on my computer and this site and listening to Adam's music.

He is upset that I don't watch TV with him as I use to before Adam!
But really, how many shows do I have to watch with dead bodies on autopsy tables, bones being cleaned and reconnected, car chases, lawyers, CSI, NCIS and the World's Dumbest Criminals, real life cops busting speeders, etc. etc, to be a good companion. I don't want to watch those shows.

That's why he's jealous. We aren't spending "quality" time together! JEEZ!

Anonymous said...

Just because you get married or partner up with someone should not mean that you lose your own identity but so often this seems to be the thing that happens. I've been through this sort of thing myself and although it took a number of years to adjust to being single again I can honestly say I wouldn't have it any other way. I value my freedom too much and wouldn't give it up for the world.

Anonymous said...

I've got the same situation as many of you. I don't talk about Adam with my husband unless there is something especially exciting to tell him. (the Queen shows, for ex.) He likes Adam, but doesn't seek out any music or info about him. I am on the computer each day, of course, and my husband does not bother me about it. My sister likes him, but doesn't ask me about him. If I tell her something, she's interested, but not overly so. She went to a GNT with me and loved it, but doesn't follow him.

What other singer would get such a reaction from our spouses and friends? If we were Adele nuts or Michael Buble crays, I don't think we'd face such negativity. Adam is a such a strong presence. I know his sexuality is part of it, at least to some people, but it's got to be something else.

As for Adam's "screaming," I have to laugh. Adam hits high notes perfectly, every time. Why do some people think that all his high notes are "screaming?" Other singers hit high notes, sometimes perfectly and sometimes not, but I'll bet that the same people who say that Adam screams, would not say the same about these other singers who actually DO scream.
Adam did NOT scream at the Queen shows. He hit high notes perfectly. Sad that some people can't hear the difference.

I do feel isolated when I cannot talk to someone in person who loves Adam as much as I do. Posting on websites is a God-send. I would go crazy if I couldn't be here and share with all of you. I do have a fan group in my general area and we have gotten together twice for an Adam b-day party. Both times were GREAT! But on a day to day basis, it's me and all of you. Thank God.

DRG (wishing more people "got" Adam)

Lets face it Adam's music soothes the savage beast:) I must say that I tryed mentioning Adam at my work place and a couple of people looked at me as if to say 'OH' as if they didn't really approve, I got the feeling it was to do with the gay issue but what really annoyed me was how they make these judgements without taking time to listen to his amazing voice because they just might change their minds. In much the same way that the Queen fans were skeptical about Adam filling Freddie's shoes, but once they heard Adam I think they got one hell of a shock and did nothing but praise him.

Anonymous said...

For those who "reject" Adam without even listening to his music, I wonder if these people do that with other singers who are suggested to them? Do they say, "No, I'm not even going to listen!" about other singers, too? Or just Adam? They probably listen to other gay singers with no problem. I just can't figure out what it is about Adam that makes people not want to even give him a chance. It's the mystery of the decade.

I am in the same boat in the sense there's no one nearby to share my love for ADAM. My husband admires him because I made him aware during Idol but he's a very busy businessman. But he even told me when I arrived home from a M & G that I should not wash my right hand since I shook hands with him. LOL!

I believe the resistance is because of that scandal at the start of his professional career, I don't even want to go there, but it is.

And it's ADAM's stunning personality, gorgeousness, aura, charisma, irresistibility and by just being an undeniable phenomenon that others (whether husbands, mates or other celebrities themselves) cannot help but be envious and jealous and dismiss him.

I am only thankful that ADAM is kind, polite, respectful, happy, articulate, intelligent and a very humble guy that there's really nothing to criticize him except his orientation or the silly comments that he screams (why we know it's not and why don't they?) or just wait for any misstep from him and be unforgiven.

But deep in my heart I know that ADAM's belief that LOVE overcomes HATE will win in the end.

I just wanted to share a FUN story about the fact that there ARE many fans out there..and you never know when you will run into one. Or more.

The other day, I had a chance to chat with someone who was in my place of business (He's one of my favorites: well educated, well spoken, interesting, nice, etc..).. Long story short, among other things, we talked about the Olympic Closing ceremonies, British music over the years..etc. He said he LOVES Queen but his teen daughter doesn't like Jessie J for some reason, so they skipped her part, although he did insist upon watching Brian's amazing guitar intro...I seldom discuss Adam in my workplace, as the topic doesn't often come up, (and I don't often have opportunities for long or "deep" discussions: usually involves the weather, etc...) but in this case, I had a feeling that it would make sense to mention that Adam had just done his European series of concerts with Queen, since this guy is a huge Queen fan...Asked him if he knows who Adam Lambert is...He said oh, sure, saw him on Idol. "My wife and daughter make me watch Idol [he was being sarcastic..I think he actually WANTS to watch too..]..but I really didn't mind watching at all when Adam was on there..He's reallllly good"..YAY!!! And THEN he said "Yes, I really like his second album, and I think its better than his first one.." Well, I just about fell off my chair, because not only does he know who he is, and likes him, but he knows about his music...SCORE!!!! He said his wife and daughter are big fans...Well, what can I say?? You just never know...

So my point is, we can talk about the people who aren't fans..or don't know who Adam is..Or that radio isn't currently being overly supportive of Adam's music (grrrrrr!!!) BUT there ARE many many who DO know who he is , and are fans...So, then I mentioned that it seems completely possible that Queen and Adam may eventually perform here in the US..To which he responded "Wow, Adam would be so good with them..I'd go for sure.." So radio play is only part of the equation. I truly believe Adam will be successful regardless of what is happening (or not happening) here in the US AT THE MOMENT.. There is no way that Adam will just fade into the woodwork, so to speak. At this point, I'd really prefer to not dwell on what might have gone "wrong" in the past, but be excited about what has gone RIGHT (soo much!), IS happening now for him, and what will undoubtedly be happening in his future.. I also want to point out that during this conversation I had with this man above, we didn't talk about Adam being gay or anything "controversial"...We talked about what a talented singer and performer he is ..and what great music he has created, and will undoubtedly create in the future. Lastly, I mentioned to him that I met Adam a few months back. He said "Is he as nice as he seemed to be on Idol?" and of course I responded "Absolutely! ...Made my day.....

@ 7:51 P.M......JAK here

In ref to the blond Elvis photo.
Elvis had light to medium brown hair naturally when I met him, interviewed him in 1956 just as Heartbreak Hotel was getting BIG on radio. It was the fashion in the mid-late 50's to have blond/blonde streaks and he had them on the front of his head. Could have been natural, but I doubt it. All my friends were using Sun In or going to the beach with lemons and squeezing them on each others hair, then lying in the blistering sun all day! I wore a big hat....at the time I was protecting my dark hair and daily hoping I was growing to look more like Ava Gardner! I had the eyes, the cheeks and hair, but alas not the indent in the chin!

At the time I did not find Elvis attractive at all...he def improved as he approached 30! Black hair and eye makeup and a slight nose adjustment helped!

Anonymous said...

@ glitzylady

That sounds like a very encouraging encounter. If only more people's first thought of
Adam was his talent, not his orientation.........JAK

Just watched Elvis' on Tour on TV last night and Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas. LOL!
My husband usually handles the remote and I let him and he stayed tune to Elvis' marathon last night (it was his 35th death anniversary) since there was no other show he liked.

@JAK, can't believe your luck that you have been that close and talked to him early in his career. To me, Elvis was his handsomest in that 1969 Las Vegas stint when he was all in black leather. Beautiful man!

JAK here......I commented on this site way back about meeting Elvis.
For those who don't remember....I was in college and wrote for school newspaper. Elvis and I were born same year.....He came to sing at a local theater and I had an appointment for a 15 minute interview. I was there an hour. He was very polite, "Yes ma'ams" "No ma'ams" in all the right places. He was very flirty and terribly corny. Two of his cronies were there to laugh at his jokes. He was not impressive at all, very immature.
I remember thinking "My boyfriend is a lot better looking"...he was!
....When it was time for the show he put on a bright parrot green sportcoat and asked if I wanted to watch from side stage, I said no I wanted to sit in the audience.
....I had several of his records that my boyfriend had bought for me, he'd seen Elvis before he was really known nationally. Elvis toured with a group of Louisiana Hayride musicians and they had played air force bases and my boyfriend thought he had SOMETHING!
He didn't shine in person, until he hit the stage.
....And then, OH MY! He did indeed have SOMETHING! I became a huge fan, still have a stack of those old 45s about 10 inches high.
....

Where I work people still identify Adam as being gay, and it's rather amusing how people who happen to meet Adam seem to think of him as a close personal friend when in reality he is a celebrity with all sorts of people falling over him all the time. I feel sorry for the guy, but such is the cost of fame, thank goodness he has Sauli and his family to help him in remaining grounded. He does a great job showing patience with his fans but as he himself has stated there are times when he really values his own space.
