due, Controversial artist says.

AMERICAN pop star Adam Lambert waited for over two years to visit South Africa.

But the wait has been worth it, according to the 30-year-old, who says he is loving his time in the country.

Lambert arrived this week for performance in Cape Town and Joburg.

"Wow, my trip, to South Africa had been way overdue', an excited Lambert told media at a press conference in Sandton yesterday.

"Although I didn't know much about South Africa before arriving, I knew that I had some amazing crazy fans this side”.

Lambert known for his controversial, jaw-dropping stage antics, said he was having the time of his life in South Africa, having already performed in Cape Town Tuesday night.

“Cape Town concert was absolutely amazing”, said Lambert.

“The audience was absolutely beautiful and vibe was great”.

“I really hope that the Joburg concert is just as good”

“The one thing I loved about Cape Town concert is that the crowd was so diverse. There were black people and white people all jumping to my music. I loved it.”

Lambert, who performed at the Coca Cola Dome last night, promised JOburg's "Glamberts" that his all on stage.

“I can guarantee one thing”, said Lambert, “I promise to give one "helluva” show. I’ve introduced a number of new elements for me tour in South Africa just for you guys."

Lambert came to prominence following his appearance on the eighth season of American Idol.

He launched a successful music career with the release of his first studio album For Your Entertainment which begun at number three on the Billboard 200.

The album achieved international success with its singles For Your Entertainment, Whataya want from me and If I Had you.

He has sold over two million albums and 4,2 million singles worldwide.

Lambert, who recently insured his voice for a $48 million (R428m) said he was overjoyed when he found out that he had fans in South Africa.

“I get many tweets from my fans in South Africa who have flown over the world to attend my concerts.”

SO what will Adam Lambert be getting up to in SA besides performing?

He said: “Well I haven't really planned anything special but I definitely plan to make the most out of my time here."

“for now I’m focused on my concert tonight (last night). Maybe tomorrow I can go and get a little crazy, maybe even do a little shopping,” he added.

Lambert has collaborated with an all-star list of award winning artists, producers and songwriters including Pharrel Williams, Dr Luke, Claude Kelly, Benny Blanco, Bonnie McKee, Bruno Mars, Sam Sparro, Nikkie Costa and BC Jean.

Meanwhile South African pop princess Toya Delazy, who opened for Lambert in Cape Town and in Joburg last night said she was thrilled to have been chosen to open for the US pop star.

“The Cape Town concert was crazy, such a lovely experience", said Delazy.

“When I found out that Adam wanted to work with me I was super excited".

Lambert was not ruled our collaborating with Delazy in some time in the future.

Adam and the gang seemed to have an amazing time in SA. He was so well received and put on two fantastic shows from the comments I have read and, of course, from the videos seen here or on you tube. He is becoming an international superstar and there are countries just clamoring for him to perform there. Too bad he doesn't receive this recognition and love here at home to the extent that he does globally. I love watching him perform and think there is no one like him in the music business today. He is in a league of his own and just seems to get better and better on stage during these concerts. Adam Lambert is a gorgeous, sexy, dynamic performer and his connection with an audience is pure electricity.

The recognition he gains overseas will eventually make it's way back to the US. Don't worry, his career is young and growing. It's just a matter of time.

@2.22 Hopefully so, but sure wish the US would get the love underway for Adam. Internationally this man is a star and adored.

Adam shines where he wants to shine. South Africa and Germany are the countries Adam enjoys most for some reason. The South African fans didn't seem like Glamberts, but rather people who like his music and therefore went to see him in concert.
