  2. I like the guitar in Runnin', it gives the song a touch of baroque. Runnin' is for me one of the best tracks in this album, it shows much of Adam's range. I wonder why Adam never wanted to sing it live. I know he said that you never make videos of bonus tracks, but I feel that this song would've made a great hit on the radio.

  6. This only makes me feel stronger about wishing Running had been released as a single, bonus track or not. I really think it could have worked/been successful, and kept him on the radar of the general pop music public. Oh well... in to the future we go, on to the next phase.

  10. Adam's voice on these songs is just amazing, I love these songs so much but with Adam's powerful vocals I don't think they need the guitar, these songs are perfect as they are and I found the guitar distracting from Adam's voice. Both these songs should have been released as singles from the start, such a pity they could have been huge hits. I don't think Adam needs to change too much his TP album is perfect but I'd say the reason it hasn't performed as well in the US as some other countries was more so because of selecting the wrong songs for singles.

  11. I loved both "Runnin" and "Cuckoo" as remixes. And they both could have been big hits on radio, IMO.

Ditto. In original form or these remixes which I also like... 2 of the best tracks to be singles. (Map would have made a good pop single too.) Ah well, it seems that ship has sailed but we will continue to enjoy the music!

  15. I agree with @1:53pm -- wrong songs chosen for singles -- they're all great songs, but just not radio-friendly. I feel there was some of that, as well, with FYE. I'm wondering if this split with 19 Recordings will have a positive impact to that effect.

Cuckoo, Shady, Naked Love and Chokehold all could have been singles (I also agree about Runnin' but, as Adam said, bonus tracks aren't singles).

@2:22 also mentioned Map. Did you guys all know that Cuckoo, Chokehold and Map were all co-written and produced by the same 5 people (incl Adam, of course)...?? I think if they'd stuck with those songs, he would have had hits.

The shame of this is that had some of those songs been released, Adam would probably be nominated for a Grammy, now they won't see the light of day. Somebody at 19 or RCA or both royally screwed up. Way too much "research" and not enough gut feeling.

    Hopefully that will change.

  16. OT but if any of you are watching the Red Carpet, what's with Ryan's hair? Is he trying to look like our BB?

  17. I agree that the wrong songs were chosen as singles. I just love Map and think that would have made a great first single then Cuckoo. Runnin should not have been a bonus track so that could have been a single as well ,if Adam wanted to release a more rock song. Well it's in the past, not much we can do now. I just keep enjoying the Trespassing album almost daily and looking forward to album #3. Keeping everything crossed that RCA and DMG handle things right this time around and Adam gets some great hits!

  18. So is it true Adam has split from 19?

  19. It's NOT too late for a new single off Trespassing cd. Come on Adam, please make it happen. I always listen to the full Trespassing CD BUT whenever RUNNIN' comes on, I sing like crazy with Adam, whether in my car or at home with headphones on. I learned the lyrics of RUNNIN' very quickly and to me, that's a sign of a radio success. RUNNIN' is a great, great, great song. I see so many tweets asking Adam to make it a single. And on YTube, it has almost 800,000 views, this without a video or any promotion whatsoever. That means that a LOT of people have bought the DELUXE version of Adam's CD.

  20. I ususally don't like remixes at all, but these two are great! They don't detract from Adam's voice at all. I agree that it's not too late to squeeze another singel out of TP, but I'm sure that will not happen. The chosen singles were not the best ones, but that's water over the dam. The hidden gems of TP will remain hidden until we somehow get the radio dopes to play them. BTW, that CAN happen long after an album has been released. Some of those TP gems may see the light of day yet. But, on with the show! Album #3 is in the works. Hope this summer we're all singing new Lambert songs and hearing them on the frreakin' radio!

  21. I can't bear the thought of all these great songs going to waste, I also love Runnin and I love Cuckoo and Chokehold, I love them all, in fact this album is the only one I have bought where I listen to every song, oh, and I forgot Map and By The Rules. I really hope there is still a chance that some of these songs will be played on radio and become hits for Adam.

  22. I don't mind remixes, but I felt the guitar made the song sound to busy as if it was competing with Adams voice, on the other hand if you listen to Sleepwalker from Adam's FYE album, the guitar really suites the song and compliments Adams voice. For me guitars sound more appropriate in a rock format more so than modern popular music.

Yes, his decision. His contract expired and he didn't renew. He has other management in place. And RCA is still his "label". Its all good!

  39. Runnin is playing right now on Energyradio :))))))

  40. gah, that was me on that last post...

I disagree about Adam having the wrong singles, BTIKM was perfect for HAC radio in the US, there is no reason why it shouldn't have been a hit.
And NCOE, again fitted in great on the radio. (I heard it a few times on the radio when I was in the UK in last summer), we all know that had it been Bruno Mars singing it, it would have been played every hour, and got to top 5 on the charts at least. But nothing can become a hit if radio won't play it, and people do not get to hear it. Apparently to have a hit in the US you need an AI of 10million on US radio.

But I just heard runnin on Energyradio (a fairly new internet radio that is playing Adam about once an hour at the moment), it sounded great.
Who made the rule that bonus tracks can't be singles....Adam is not your usual pop singer, I think he should rewrite the rules and release it as a single with a great video. Songs nowadays need videos.

  41. HK fan thanks for telling me about energy radio, is that here in US?

  42. The guitars in the Runnin' remix muffle Adam's voice to some extent. His voice is much clearer in the Cuckoo remix.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Cuckoo most definitely should've been released as a single. It's a hit waiting to happen.

I don't agree that the 3 singles from Trespassing shouldn't have been released. They are all WONDERFUL songs but for some unknown reason which hasn't been revealed, they didn't appear to receive the right promotion and I'm certainly not talking about Adam. All the promos Adam did were FANTASTIC!

  47. I've heard some remixes for TP and they sound great but they use electronic sounds which I think are more appropriate for Adam's music on this album, it sounds more current and more suitable for nightclubs which is what Adam wanted, great dance music. Guitars on these 2 songs make them sound out of date.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think the 3 singles released for Trespassing were right on the mondey for Top 40 and definitely AC & HAC... not the reason for lack of radio play... (pisses me off, Have you people heard the newish one from Train... train wreck IMHO but will get a lot of play. Bruno Mars' newer one very different... but will get tons of play... etc... pisses me off... but at the end of the day I remain optimistic :))

  49. Once you get a breakthrough hit, the radio will play your next songs because you have broken through that "wall." They'll play your new stuff whether it's particularly good for not. Adam's "hits" have been moderate, not blockbusters. When his first blockbuster DOES hit (and it will), the radio will play his new music with greater acceptance, even if they don't happen to like a particuar song. You can't tell me that the radio peeps love every song they play by the top sellers. They play them because listeners love the singer and will listen to the stations that play that singer's music.

We've talked to death the radio play issue. Their are so many layers to the issue. There's a reason why Jodie Foster didn't come out till later in her career.

  51. Radio lists are dependant upon how much agents or management pay them, so if management of a particular artist pays more than another artist the artist with the most money invested will make the radio stations play list. At the end of the day it's all about the dollar. Artists such as Bruno Mars, GaGa, Kate Perry have all won Grammy Awards and this makes them less of a risk to the record label and managers with regard to paying out for radio play. I'm sure in time Adam will get their he needs a couple of good solid hits and hopefully he will be on his way.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I think paying a radio station to pay your music is illegal. It's called "payola" and was a huge scandal many years ago. You can't pay off radio stations to get them to play your music. It's against the law. If this has changed, I sure didn't hear about it. Radio play depends on the song itself, an artist's status, sales of the song, and a lot of convincing, cajoling and just plan sweet-talking stations into playing your music. That's what Adam was doing when he went from station to station doing interviews and little performances. It helps if the station actually likes the song, but they'll play the songs of an established hit-maker regardless of whether the station likes the song or not. I think radio people really like and respect Adam personally. There is no clear answer to who gets played and who doesn't, but it's not about paying the station to play your music.
