Good promo for Adam even if the books are poorly written and popularize abusive relationships.

I read the first one. I thought it was boring, trashy and predictable. The only thing that was interesting was the potential for character development of Grey. But the first one was so boring that I didn't bother with the other ones.

They aren't great literature for sure (after all..they're based on Twilight...for adults) ...but they are pretty darn (ahem....) sexy, in a rather porn-ish sort of way. And apparently there are a lot of men who like the fact that their significant others are reading..or have read..the books. To be honest they don't really glorify abusive relationships...They are more about what an abusive relationship can do to one's psyche, in the case of Christian Grey, who was a victim of sexual abuse as a teen by an older woman, and his resulting inability to have a normal and loving relationship for many years, until meeting Anastasia Steele. Not getting all serious and psychological here, but it does have a storyline and a point to the whole thing..with a whole lot of hot, and sometimes kinky, sex along the way. And the usual drama....as is required in a "bodice ripper" type book. It often makes no real sense, but these types of books often don't. Reality suspended....

I posted this video on the other 50 Shades thread here but if interested in hearing the story behind it, worth a listen. The author was on the Katie Couric show awhile back and it was great fun hearing the reasons why she wrote it..and the fact that she never meant it to be great literature but a sort of (adult) parody on Twilight..and the rest is history. And she is shocked that it has been such a huge success. She is funny, actually quite articulate, and takes neither her books or herself seriously.

Can you tell us more about this? I'd like to find out some additional information.

I admit to not being able to get past the juvenile writing and the victimization of women to finish the book. Maybe part of the popularity is socially acceptable porn? Might as well read harlequin romance books which I also find inane. At least a lot of EL James' followers probably saw the tweets and vids.

How come the tweet to Adam is no longer in EL James's feed? Both tweets from Adam to her arent in his feed either.

I'm pretty sure "50 Shades of Grey" is being made into a movie as we speak. If one of Adam's songs made it into the soundtrack it would be HUGE. How encouraging and flattering to have the author talking to Adam. Go Adam!

I SOOOO love Chokehold. It would be the END in a movie soundtrack! But if E.L. likes FYE, it's all good. Let's keep our fingers crossed! Adam's music in a blockbuster movie? OMG!!

A fake account?

Well, anyway, the book was rubbish, I made the mistake of buying the audio version of it and it was utterly horrible, extremely naive and irritating, I had to give up at some point since even the reader sounded like a 16 year old bimbo, a true blonde in the worst possible fashion.

Sorry glitzylady but it was such trashy writing I gave up, felt I was wasting my time.

I've only read the first book so far. I agree, it's trashy..I only read the first one to see what all the fuss was about. But I own the other two so may eventually finish them.. Or not. So far not. I doubt anyone, including the author, would call them anything but trashy. I'm not advocating that anyone read them..but I do have to say that the vid of the Katie Couric show I posted was a hoot. My hubby watched the show with me and we both laughed a lot. The show was like being at a girls night out.. Lots of giggling and the feeling of "I can't believe we're even talking about this on TV...with just a few million of my closest friends!" As Adam likes to say, "It's not that deep..." and that pretty much sums it up. :))))

IMO you have to know what you're getting before you read these books. They're not meant to be read for the story!

"FYE" and Chokehold" my fav songs on each album. Would love any of Adam's music to be used for a movie!

I have read all 3 Books.....I don't know how people can just read the first and not carry on to find out what happens to them..I only read it originally to see what all the fuss was about. And I will admit that they are certainly not the best written books, but they're OK. Thought the 2nd and 3rd were actually a bit better as there seemed to be a bit more of a story to them, and she didn't seem quite so submissive, and you found out a bit more about what makes Chrisitan tick.

FYE would be great to have playing while they're in the Red room....

And Chokehold is perfect...

If it happens I hope it makes more of an impact in the US than Time For Miracles did. Maybe the ending credits isn't the best spot.

People tend to be pretty literal and I can see Chokehold being misunderstood. I didn't look but maybe that is the missing tweet, the one the author made a joke about actual choking.

I too read the 1st book out of curiosity and then read the other 2 books. A bit of light reading. Having read all 3 books, I think FYE would be very suitable in the movie, more so than Chokehold because Christian and Anastacia were only apart for a few days and they both wanted the relationship to continue.

The author left the door open for possibly another book or books in this vein in the future,

My son also turned 21 today! They grow way too fast!

I also read all 3...hot & steamy! I agree that the last 2 books were better than the first. It will definitely be interesting to see who will play Christian Grey. They will have to be perfect.

Really exciting that E. L. and Adam had that exchange! FYE would be perfect!

Here is another tweet from her:

Congratulations on your son's 21st, daydreamin. Hope there are wonderful celebrations.

Read all three 50 Shades books .... couldn't stop at one .... haha!! Too many descriptive orgasims - they were quite exhausting reading actually LOL. It'll be interesting to see who they cast as Christian. He's only 28 in the book but he seems older, and he'll need to be a flawless looking specimen. As daydreamin said, For Your Entertainment would be perfect for the movie.

Too bad Sean Connery isn't young. I could see him playing Christian Grey in his younger days. In fact, I could see him playing an old Christian Grey. :) Of course, there's Adam - how perfect would he be - but somehow I don't think it would interest him. Fingers crossed, they use FYE in the film.

Yes, I can see a young or old Sean Connery playing the lead in the movie......tho I've never read the book. He was a favorite of mine and the best James Bond, cold like the character in the book. However he lost my admiration when he said in a Playboy interview that sometimes a woman needs to be slapped! That was in 1965 and he didn't mellow any over the years. In an interview with Barbara Walters in 2006, she asked him if he'd changed his mind about that statement. He said "no, but you should use an open hand". Sweet guy!.......JAK

Really? A Woman needs to be slapped with an open hand? AND in retaliation a knee to the groin of the slapper would be satisfactory ... IMO ... Sorry Mr. Connery was never my favorite James Bond .. Roger Moore was .. out of all of the Bonds ... just more my type ...

Sean Connery is the best Bond while JMO both Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan are not that much of a Bond.
