Adam Amazing!!!

Wow, the Chinese really have studied Adam's voice to the point where they even recognize the head voice with which he sings "Tracks of My Tears", when so many in the music business, not voice experts btw, think he's singing in falsetto. I wouldn't have known myself, but the difference is in the power and strength with which Adam sings the song's ending; in falsetto are used the itty-bitty size vocal chords, the ones like I can only muster beyond the first five notes of an octave.

Wow, I think the Chinese aficionados of Adam might be thinking of hijacking him out from under us unless we do something about this national treasure. I wouldn't blame them, as I've often thought of this myself. Just dreaming. atm

@Magiclady - so agree with you. Those snippets were fun to relive. AI must have been smiling from ear to ear when they realized the treasure they had "discovered" in Adam both in voice and looks! Never will forget S8 and excitingly anticipating what song Adam would sing and what he'd be wearing and his "look" for the nite. Never before nor since has that happened for me. . . . Adamluv

@11:47AM- I absolutely agree with your comment about never forgetting S8 of Idol with Adam. I looked forward each week to what song he would sing, what he would wear and what the judges would have to say. In fact, I just watched all the shows that I had saved from Idol with Adam performing just the other night. I was totally mesmerized by him and have not felt that way about any other performer since then. It was the only time I ever voted for a contestant also. Adam set the bar so high that in my opinion no one has even come close to being in the same league as he is. He was born to be on the stage performing for all of us who recognize and appreciate what a vocal powerhouse he is.

As I watched the video of Adam's vocal highlights, I was in awe of his ability to nail those incredible high notes every single time with confidence and skill. I'm still in awe of it. But I hope listeners remember also how skilled Adam is in the low registers of his voice, too. His lower register has richness and resonance and incredible control. It must be a result of his vocal training and God-given talent. I listen to some pop singers who can certainly belt it out at the high end but have virtually no control or timbre at the low end. It's not easy to keep the voice rich and full when you're singing lower and not so loudly. Adam uses falsetto by choice, not by necessity. Many less skilled singers resort to falsetto when they really can't make the high notes in the proper key. They have to fake it with the falsetto. Adam does NOT have to do this. His glory notes are rich and high and fully controlled. The Chinese certainly recognize the quality of Adam's voice and how he uses it. They "get" it, for sure. Adam's will be "re-discovered" in the U.S. by a wider audience. I just feel it. Diamonds this valuable don't go un-mined for long.

I too sat in awe at every performance of ADAM's on Idol. I voted my tush off every week & for a solid 4 hours ... hit & miss on the finale. Speaking of his range I came across the recording of the song he wrote and sang with Nikka Costa recently. It sounds so different from his normal range it's almost hard to believe it's him. It didn't make it on the album, but as a novelty it's interesting, do you remember it from this site? It's called HOLD ON. You can google it if interested.

DRG, you give me hope for Adam. I too feel he will in time get the recognition he deserves in this country. We're nearing the tipping point when that day comes; we sure as heck need the likes of Adam's light and love desperately. Injustice, the unfairness of conservative radio, chokes me up sometimes. Just glad that Adam is loved elsewhere.

This video of Adam underscores how rare his talent is, not just for the technical aspects of his voice, but his artistry and emotional connection--qualities, I believe, that are not so much nurtured as they are the product of Adam's sensitive and empathetic nature. A third lung he grew as a non-stop screaming, squealing baby doesn't hurt, either. atm

Thank you for the reminder re. Hold On! I'd almost forgotten about that one. I love the raw edge to his voice there. It's funny, because on both of his albums, some of my fave songs are either the bonus tracks or the scrapped ones. They seem to have more of the edge I like.

When I first heard Adam sing on AI, It was OMG!!! Watched & voted for Adam to the end & still Voting for him! Adam's the Winner!!!

China knows Talent that's why Adam's there for " China Idol", China Voice, Chinese Awards, etccc more to come for sure:)
China loves & is very interested in Adam's Power Vocals & not hung up on his sexuality!
Seems like Asia's moving on for the "Arts" in a big positive ways!!! Progress with lots of $$$!!!:)

I much prefer Adam's lower registers.

China doesn't recognize Adam's talent any more than the US does. Saying so just shows you have no idea what is going on in China.

I agree with all the positive comments here, but especially agree with DRG's two comments. I too never voted for anyone on AI -- only Adam. My family even called me the night he didn't win to see if I was crying, which I kinda was. I've never been addicted to a performer as I am of Adam, for ALL his special qualities but especially his voice. I too am in awe of his talent.

Adamluv I'm sure we can all agree that we all waited with baited breath to see what Adam would sing and wear on AI. He is our national treasure...so many haven't figured that out yet! I have a friend at work who says she hasn't watched Idol since Adam. I played a song or two for her of him singing with Queen since she was unaware of it. She said she had goosebumps all over just hearing him sing. Who else gets this kind of reaction?

9.15 China done ton's for Adam and just what is going on in China! We had this argument with you before, you were wrong then and your wrong now! Adam has had recognition here, but should be much more.he got the favorite int. artist award in China performed there and performed at MAMA awards in Japan nominated to I believe. He done voice finale, he gonna be on Idol in may recording for that and will do the Idol finale. He done Hennessy concerts and received an award there. Only three people got a a very coveted net game Adam one if them. He just did TV show be shown in Idol in may,. Done sonic festival Japan done numerous tv shows in Japan and china and they play his music on the radio all the time. Trespassing the song stated by a DJ last time Adam in China been in top ten for months there.this just scratches the surface what he done in last year in China and Japan. It's obvious you do not know what going on with Adam in Asia, business wise or other wise. He got regonition here but more in Asia in last year. Yes he getting DV award and he deserves it. He had to miss LA awards for China commitment's he was nominated for them and he getting Glaad DV award. At this point in time he is bigger in China. It is happening in US and has started this year into next I hope. But China is a big supporter of Adam and if you don't realize that you know nothing of what happening in china at all. Well they are sure not abroad stream Adam got the Idol lock on that over all Idols, even underwood and PP. he does not seem to be turning Asia on at all or others that Adam's big in. pap is opening for someone big not carrying his own concerts. Adam had a world tour starting at about one year after idol a solo one that went around the world. The GNT caught them early he pretty much been world star ever sense neither one are any where near yet being a abroad star like Adam and underwood just broke into Europe she been on the scene four years longer than Adam.i think Adam will eventually capture America more. Bit no one from Idol touching him worldwide he getting bigger and growing here every year! Those two have that country pop thing that's more America Adam got more what Asia especially and abroad wants. We all have our strong points. Adam is a much bigger deal abroad and that will keep him going for years. His management plays to where is strong points are and nurtures them very smart. Hopefully third album does great things but almost positive of his popularity abroad. Adam gets good radio play abroad doubt Carrie gets much or PP gets as much as Adam.Adam does have good popularity in especially Asia and others if you don't realize that your not seeing straight. Be thankful he got those strong points, really sting point. Adam growing by the year abroad it does not happen over night and takes a lot of work. His concerts did do well he growing and every year will fill more seats he steadily growing every year what he filled this year will increase next time most were sold out!
