He also tweeted I love this country. Wonder if people were getting him confused with Levine again? Levine said he hated this country right before 2 of his contestants were eliminated last night.

Anonymous said...

@12:43 exactly right. the media is always mixing up the 2 Adam's. Adam Lambert is one heck of a spokesperson for himself!

Anonymous said...

12:59 -- And a heck of a spokesperson for his country (that he LOVES!)

Anonymous said...

I don't watch The Voice but I heard "they" (the country who voted I presume) let go of two good contestants last night, is that how it works? The country votes and their votes put Levine's team in a situation where he had to send home two good contestants? Is that correct? Sorry for Off-Topic!! I guess I could Google it! But you guys seem to know these shows so well :).

Anonymous said...

@1:13 No the voters voted off both of his contestants, so he only has one left.

Anonymous said...

@1:13 Levine had no control over who went home, only the voters.

glitzylady said...

The voters vote, some people go home. Just total number of votes, like Idol. It was a double elimination so the bottom two vote getters left. I watch The Voice, all of the singers are really great. But I agreed with the outcome.. Just so happened that the bottom two were on Adam Levine's team. He was obviously talking about the vote totals, not that he hates America...

I recall a certain singing contest a few years back, where I wasn't too happy with the voters either..........ahem.....

Anonymous said...

I am just glad it is not our Adam being misunderstood for a change. I know he didn't mean he hated this country, just how they voted. Sometimes I hate how this country votes and it has nothing to do with singing competitions ;)
I wasn't mad when Adam didn't win, I knew he would win in the long run.

glitzylady said...

Wait a minute! In my comment above, I said I agreed with the outcome of last nights eliminations. I should have proofread. I agree with Adam Levine. The 2 eliminated, Judith Hill and Sarah Simmons where in my opinion, in the top 3 best, along with Sasha, who is my fav. Also love Michelle Chamuel.. So many great voices...all of the remaining..

Anonymous said...

I don't think America got it right last night either. I have enjoyed the Voice this year with Shakira and Usher. I really thought Adam would win it this year. Now I am thinking Blake will pull it out again.

Anonymous said...

@ 1:52 PM Sadly Adam is being misunderstood, go to his twitter account and click on Expand

Anonymous said...

It was a toss away comment on a singing competition, not a political statement. Don't know why anybody would bother either Adam about it.

Anonymous said...

From what I can see it is only the ones that are always causing trouble giving our Adam a hard time, haven't looked at Levines twitter.

Anonymous said...

Please give Adam and Angie's Titanium views on you tube ,let's get it to 600,000,it's almost there!

Anonymous said...

Wow it's been 4 years and They are still talking about the amas! I guess people were really shock.idk

Anonymous said...

Adam did do a 180 from Idol to ama. But the fuss really is ridiculous since the performance was right in line with all the others.

Leilani Aloha said...

Totally agree with Glitzlady's comments!

no control over voters:( rigged or not, this happened b4!

Short term memory ? not me:(

The mix up of our Adam's name with Levine has been happening ever since The Voice came into picture. That's why I thought for AI S12 our Adam would have been a great choice as a judge to compete with The Voice and they wouldn't have lost over 10 million of their viewers last season. They better get it right for next season of AI and pick Adam as a judge.

funbunn40 said...

Adam Levine certainly doesn't hate his country. He was frustrated that the American voters voted off his contestants and was annoyed and disappointed in them. I was too, as two of his singers were also my faves. As usual, people making a mountain out of a molehill and taking it out of context. Hope America can finally tell the two Adams apart. I love my country and would never want to live anywhere else, but there are a lot of clueless people here.

They really do have some great talent on the voice, I can't pick it- all depends on the song and unfortunately Judith hill (Michael Jackson backup singer sang a bad song IMO. I'm sure a country singer will win, they always do it seems (voting demographics)

OT: Any new news about Adam judging idol? I know jenifer H is signed, Kelly Clarkson said no and maybe clay aiken or adam? Can you imagine the fan wars between adam and clau (wish they would just sign them BOTH!

7:27 -- Why is country music so popular in the US? I saw part of the Oklahoma benefit on TV tonight and heard a group called Rascal Flatts. The singer had a really high pitched voice and I thought to myself "this guy seems popular and yet he is far from thin and sings in a really high pitched voice". The crowd loved him as is. Why can't the US accept Adam as is?

7:31 -- Last year, Fox only announced Minaj and Urban's names as AI judges on September 16th. Still a long way to go...unfortunately for Adam's fans.

Anonymous said...

I thought Idol was going to do things differently. Nothing has changed. So far they've pick the Alum answer to Mariah in JH and there she sits on the panel now waiting while other names are jerked around instead of just naming them and going forward with other changes like the voting.

Anonymous said...

Blake is really popular now because he is from one of the tornado hit towns and is putting on benefits and I think he even wrote a song. Voters are going to vote for his team because of this.

wow that vid of Tommy's makeover by Sutan is great - and photo by Lee Cherry! Sutan is so charming, I can see why he and Adam are such good friends.

Anonymous said...

@7:48 it's because adam is gay and very Public about it

Anonymous said...

8:47 I enjoyed that makeover by Sutan of Tommy. Sutan has had an interesting career. Loved seeing Tommy made into a danny boy.

give Titanium some more views Angie and Adam duet. Just can't get it over the 600,000 mark.

Anonymous said...

One obvious thing is that country fans do support country singers why Blake's team of three, all country are still intact while Levine lost two and his country singer remained.
The big difference between Idol and The Voice is in voting. One is allowed only 10 votes per cell phone # and 10 votes online. It is limited while Idol is as much as you can vote.
Also, The Voice includes the ITunes downloads and multiply it by 10. All the country contestants are high on the chart all the way to No.1 which last week was 50,000 downloads for that 16 year old country singer Danielle.
It's why all country singers are still standing there and eliminated Judith and Sarah who are both excellent singers except Sarah's notes were not on point last Monday. She was just off on Somebody that I Used To Know.
I predict that Danielle will take the title and Blake will win again. Of course the big winner is country why Levine uttered those words, "I hate this country."

Anonymous said...

7:48 PM, are you serious? Why is country music so popular? Because not everybody likes the same kind of music. Just because Adam is remarkably talented doesn't mean everybody has to like his type of music. Just like you don't have to like country music.

Anonymous said...

It isn't just the AMA's that put a mark against Adam, he said f...k you, and kissed Tommy thru the whole tour. Adam is often his own worst enemy. He only stopped doing it when he met Sauli. I think they are not quite sure if he will pull another stunt like that. That show is big, and they don't want to take chances. I hope they will ask him to be a judge, I know he would love it. We will just have to wait and see.

glitzylady said...

Did you watch American Idol when Steven Tyler was on (who I LOVED!!)?? They had to bleep a whole lotta words during his time there. He was funnier than hell. And no one seemed to mind the occasional ***bleep!!***

Anonymous said...

I really liked Steven Tyler on AI too, he has a great personality. He never said much but I could tell right away if he didn't like the performance. I liked JLO but she talked too much for my taste. The judges just can't please everybody.

Anonymous said...

The only "thing" I like about country music is Keith Urban.

Anon 7:48
That is a very good question (why is country music so popular in US?) - please somebody give a good answer!

Anon 9:57
Sorry, but your exclamation and "because not everybody likes the same kind of music" does not answer the question!

For an outsider coming to your vast and beautiful country it seems that EVERYBODY LIKES THE SAME KIND OF MUSIC, which is country music. And country singers win in all music award shows, even though they have their own award show... and they win in all talent seekin reality shows, WGWG and sometimes WGurlWith/withoutG...

So please answer these questions:
Why is country music so popular in US still?
Why are so many liking, loving and voting only country singers?

When and if mainstream = country music, Adam's up against a bigger task in US than humanly possible, but then again ADAM IS FROM PLANET FIERCE... so we'll just wait/vote and see... :))))

@9.57
Don't know why you gave such a snarky answer, to a perfectly polite question...
Although I think @7.48 should have asked why is country music so popular in the States. For us outside the US, its quite hard to fathom just how huge country music is, when it barely makes a ripple in most other countries..

Anonymous said...

Country music is very popular in western, southern and rural areas of the states. And i think more people from those areas watch tv reality shows and vote for contestants than in more urban areas. Country music is traditionally associated with conservative values , being religious and patriotic. And a large percent of Americans support that

Anonymous said...

Also if you drive across the United States there are many areas where you can only find country or Christian music on the radio stations. Rural and small towns just live and breathe that stuff

Anonymous said...

The last couple of posts have good points imho. It's hard to write this politely, but I saw it written about some time back that part of the voting issue is that "middle of the country" people tend to be home on a weekday night watching tv and voting, whereas people in more urban or even just suburban areas might not be as sucked in to nightly television viewing and also maybe are not home as consistantly on weekday evenings. This was of course a sweeping generalization, but I personally think that idea has merit.

Anonymous said...

AdamLuv The AMA'S tweeted We hear you loud and clear Glamberts. I love this fan base.

HK fan said...

@6.00, 6.15 and 6.41am
I get that about the Christian/conservatives , middle America etc liking country. But it doesn't explain why country is so huge in America but not in other countries of the world...

Anonymous said...

As we saw with Arkansas we southerners know how to vote in mass;) I should have voted that night, but I liked Kris too and knew Adam would be great even without the win. I really think that the south watches and votes more on these shows. That is why on Idol they usually have a white guy with guitar that wins.

Anonymous said...

One reason country music is so popular is they actually play instruments and sing! Very little electronic sound machine nonsense. They can sing and play live, they are not putting out manufactured music - noise.

Plus country music is a direct descendant from early Irish settlers. The South had a huge number of Irish immigrants in the mid 1800's and they brought their music with them. When I sat in a pub in Galway or Dublin or Kilkenny and listened to musicians play while having a pint - I heard music that could have come
straight from Nashville. Only it was the other way around......the music was brought to Nashville from Ireland.........JAK

wow you guys are educational, I love this site.

Anonymous said...

educational? to a point. but more so opinionated.

Country music is uniquely American and developed from a combination of immigrant and slave cultures. There is a wide variety of types of country music just like there is in rock. If country music is the predominate genre in the area you grow up in it is not surprising for people to continue to like it. I don't get the comparison to music in other parts of the world. I wouldn't expect a genre of music huge in China or huge in an area of Africa to transition to the US so why would country music necessarily do so to other countries? Though country music is also popular in Canada (that's where, k.d. lang, Shania Twain and Anne Murray are from.) And basically it is what kind of music you like, very often influenced by what you heard growing up.

glitzylady said...

Country has expanded to include a lot of "rock" genre's. Back in "the day", "Popular music" included this seemingly all-encompassing term "rock" which in certain instances has been absorbed by "country" these days. So much of what I listened to growing up would most likely be considered some variation of "country" now but we didn't call it that then.. Talking about the 60's and 70's here.. I'm technically not a fan of country ie the seriously twang-y "I love my truck and my dawg.." variety, but I do like a lot of music that is considered country music.. I love Sugarland, The Dixie Chicks..Keith Urban...Kenny Chesney...The Band Perry... for instance. Really ANY music that is good music, regardless of genre (although rap tends to leave me cold...).... And one of my guilty pleasure songs is "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy".. and Lynard Skynard's "Sweet Home Alabama" is another one of those I just can't help liking.. ;))) But then again, I also like a lot of EuroPop music... Cinema Bizarre..etc.. Just grew up surrounded by the country sound. Bluegrass, folk...its all in there somewhere.... Guess I just like music...................And of course that guy named Adam Lambert..............

THANK YOU ALL for your patient and kind answers re popularity of country music in US. Interesting reading.

And let me say I don't have anything against country music, actually the times I've been in your country, I've enjoyed listening and dancing to country music a lot (ranch parties, line dancing etc). But I don't buy or listen to it regularly.
One country star I do remember from many many years back is Alan Jackson - he was so big, tall and handsome back then (those long legs in wornout jeans... *sigh*), maybe he still is?!!
And I love boots, soft and snuggly, bought one pair long time ago in Dallas and I treasure them to this day (they fit like a glove, feel wonderful and weigh nothing), lol.

So thank you once more, entertaining and educational, just like following Adam!!!
