And another interesting article from New York Magazine, about the possibility that American Idol may include one or more successful former Idol contestants next season on the judges panel:

Fox Is Considering a Plan to Have Former American Idols Judge Next Season
By Josef Adalian

Quotes from the article: (Full article link below..)

"There's a very real chance the next American Idol will be judged by a panel of former American Idols. As Fox and the production companies behind the struggling (yet still high-rated) singing show ponder changes for the 2014 edition, two people with knowledge of the situation tell Vulture that serious consideration is being given to the idea of filling one, and very possibly all, of the slots on the show's judging panel with former Idol contestants. These sources say Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Clarkson have already been approached about the idea, and that the names of ADAM LAMBERT and Clay Aiken are also under discussion."

"It's important to emphasize that we have not been able to confirm that Fox and production companies FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment have made a final decision to go with an all-alumni panel for season thirteen. "

"Fox boss Kevin Reilly, when asked last week about the future of the panel, told reporters that "everything is on the table." "

"As they always do during Idol Speculation Season, Fox publicity declined to comment. If an all-alum panel becomes a reality, the thinking behind the idea seems pretty solid: After several seasons in which Fox shelled out crazy money for singing superstars for whom Idol often seemed to be just part of a larger publicity tour, bringing back former contestants sounds like a good way to reconnect the show with its roots (and a core audience that might have been turned off by all the carpetbaggers passing judgement). "

"Fox insiders have long insisted Idol's success wasn't because of Simon Cowell or any of the judges, but because viewers loved watching real people transform into superstars. Welcoming some of those superstars home might be a good way to get former Idol viewers to return as well."

My immediate reaction to "Titanium" was keep the song going, but they didn't.

I think an all-alum panel is the most viable solution to get their ratings up.

Nice to see the tweet from AI. Please no clay Aiken on the panel, sorry but yuk. Kelly,J Hudd, Adam would be great. they may need a country judge in there too.

Sorry, but Clay Aiken's face and voice rub me the wrong way. I'll never understand why they feel the need to always mention Adam and CA in a same sentence. They are TOTALLY different individuals and performers. And they should have put AMAZING next to Adam's name as well as Kelly and Jhud. Doesn't the US media read what is happening with artists outside the USA? OMG, Adam is a mega talented artist who is recognized as such in so many countries. CA is only known in the US and perhaps the Philippines.

I could not stomach watching/listening to Clay Aiken. If he and Adam were on the panel, I'd have to vigorously use my mute button when CA talks.

If Clay Aiken got a judge spot and Adam did not I would literally cry for sure.., there not even in the same league..Ugh

I am liking that the media is connecting Adam with AI judging though..

Would love to see Adam on this panel and bring it back to life. We all wish Titanium longer but happy with what we got. Pretty sure Idol did not expect the amazing reaction this pair received but they should have known. The Dark Side

9:45 AM -- You're putting the finger right on it. AI SHOULD HAVE KNOWN that Adam Lambert and Angie Miller's duet would be an incredible hit with the audience both in the theatre and those watching on TV and online.

Just like they should know that Adam should be chosen over Clay A. Adam has over 4,100,000 likes on Facebook and over 2,009,000 followers on twitter compared to CA's 39K on Facebook and 48K on twitter. Adam is current worldwide and loved internationally for his talent, personality, philanthropy and genuineness.

I don't think Clay Aiken would add anything to the judging panel - way too blah. Yuk, even.
I don't think there's enough professional experience in the Idol winners to make up a top notch panel. Adam is the only stand-out, and maybe Jennifer Hudson (as long as she doesn't sing - too screechy for my liking, but she has really made her mark so would have something to offer).
So mixing it up with a few more from the industry would be better IMHO.

how about Melinda? I think she would be great too.

Great to see AI recognition and praise for Adam and Angie's duet. Adam really gave her the opportunity to shine. You just can't deny Adam's gorgeous voice though even though he held back for Angie. I wish the song had been longer and could have been released for download on iTunes.

Now all the speculation begins about the AI next judging panel. Having the very successful alums on the panel is a unique idea for sure. Adam would be a DEFINITE yes for me and Kelly. Not CA. CA and Adam don't seem to respect each other from past comments made. Adam is so gracious though, he'd make it work if he had to. I hope TPB give Adam a chance since he really wants to be a judge.

Snoozeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee if CA is the next judge:(

JUMP FOR JOY & LISTEN TO MUSIC AGAIN IF ADAM"S THE NEW JUDGE!!!! YAY! LETS SEND IT OUT TO THE UNIVERSE!!!!

Can we please be done trashing Clay Aiken and make this about the positive reasons to have Adam a judge?

I do like the idea of former Idol winners and finalists as new judges on the panel. It's a definite from me for Adam. And I do like Kellly Clarkson too. There probably should be a country rep. on it and then r&b/soul. Whatever the mix, this new panel has to work well together without the fiasco of the Nicki/Mariah issues. I suppose we will hear all kinds of stories about prospective judges all summer until a final decision is made. Please don't throw Adam's name on the table unless he is seriously being considered.

So they are still talking about Adam and Angie's duet on Idol. For me it was the highlight of the show. I saw Angie perform on Kellly and Michael this morning and all I could think of was the duet she did with Adam. How I wish they could appear on some talk/entertainment show to reprise the song, but the Idol contestants will be on tour and Adam will probably be working on his new album over the next few months.

Adam just had no opinion on Clay the last time I saw him asked about it. Take a page from his book. It isn't necessary to drag down every person. It just makes Adam and all his fans look bad when fans trash other artists/singers.

True! When ADAM was asked to say something nice about Clay he just declined to say anything at all. ADAM didn't follow Clay's example & say something derogatory. Having them both on the panel would be a mistake although I think ADAM would be too Classy to be openly antagonistic or Snarky ... can't say the same thing about Clay!! Sorry ... not trashing Clay ... just pointing out the facts ... JMO
