Why Great Vocals Matter!

One of the many wonderful aspects of electronic music is it's ability to showcase amazing vocal talent that would have otherwise been missed or not been given the opportunity. Great vocals can take a somewhat mediocre production and elevate it to new heights...But of course that goes without saying that a great vocal cannot make up for lacklustre producing. The idea is to marry the two and create something that is both cohesive and harmonious. Here is a quick list of some of the many vocalists who I think are changing the game in no particular order:

8. Adam Lambert

While many recognize the singer from his days on American Idol (Let's get past this people), his vocal ability it literally unparalleled. I would go as far to say that his octave range and talent is far beyond any singer in existence currently...Talk about being born in the wrong era. Having recently collaborated with Avicii on 'Lay Me Down', Lambert has begun to dabble in the world of electronic music. Now with a guest spot on Glee, we see the singer covering Lady Gaga's 'Marry The Night'...He turned a pop song into a metal hair anthem with this cover. What just happened?

thanks for the link 3:48. ok3:51 will do.

I didn't even know you could get the Bridegroom doc on iTunes. I have it preordered from Amazon.

I am far behind the times, but is the Bridegroom doc on iTunes as a whole movie, or just the music in it, like Adams Outlaws of Love?

4:52, it's the whole movie.

I love that so many people are taking notice of Adam's great vocal ability. I also love "Bridegroom", especially Adam's amazing Outlaws of Love at the end of the movie. That song represents Adam in so many ways. I'm so proud of Adam's journey since Idol. He has accomplished so much in a few years.

So happy to see Adam on that "Why Great Vocals Matter" list. Such wonderful recognition for his amazing talent! So glad the MTN video is still on the rise. Keep watching! Hooray for Bridegroom doing so well on iTunes. I hope and pray that viewers are sticking around at the end to hear Adam's voice from heaven singing OOL.

I only got the synopsis of the Bridegroom movie based on the clips; but felt the poignant circumstances the two young men were involved in. Most of all, Adam contributed his just-as-deep song, Outlaws of Love which till now is my favourite Adam song. Glad it got its debut in a movie.

I taped the Bridegroom movie from Oprah's OWN channel and have watched it twice -- cried both times. It is such a beautiful love story with a tragic end. I so hope many more will watch this wonderful documentary, as it hopefully will educate people to the torment of gay couples. It was simply beautiful and Adam's OOL song at the end was perfect. LL

History has shown time and time again, many new concepts or issues perceived as unacceptable for a particular era, eventually get to be embraced by the majority, in the years that follow. Adam as well as his songs come to mind as such events.

Tide's already turned, it's inevitable.

After all the dust has settled and minds are clearer, in perhaps another generation, some starting to emerge now, as 8:50 says, "tide's already turned"...Adam will be recorded as a kind of revolutionary, a natural one to have led the way with those before him...but he being the most visible, unapologetic and outstanding, I'd say.

Yeah right. Just as long as he 'blends in', looks like 'Elliott', does not look 'flamboyant' or act 'gay'...

Adam's GNT was pretty successful and he definitely was flamboyant. People are afraid of what they don't understand frequently. Men parading in speedos, boas and wearing exaggerated make up shake some people up. A group of leather clad motorcyclists can cause a neighborhood to be wary.....even if they might know like I do that my very sweet chiropractor is one of those on his Harley out for a Saturday rally with a group of others all in the medical field.

The only way to drive that fear away would be to stifle all the individualists in our society, I wouldn't enjoy a homogenized world. But as has been said above we will eventually accept sexual orientation as a fact of nature. But by then there will be a new group to be afraid of.......robots maybe! Or some scientist will be successful in cloning a dinosaur from DNA and we'll all be battling raptors and triceratops !

Fortunately I'll be long gone!......JAK

I'm starting to hate the word flamboyant! As Adam said, there is no such thing as "too gay". To think otherwise is bigoted. People have to get over it and realize that we are all different and one orientation is not better than another. No one need hide their true selves. To think people should pretend to be someone else is to dehumanize people. God does not make mistakes. Why is this difficult to understand. This is what Adam has been saying for over four years. I love Adam for who he is not what some people want him to be. Sorry for my morning rant.
