Sony Music To Release "The Very Best Of Adam Lambert"

Excerpt from liner notes of the CD booklet:

"If some of these tracks feel like musical mission statements, it's in their skillful fusion of mainstream pop and rock with left-of-center , if not underground, musician and pop-cultural markers, and their clear conviction toward that mission. And if that's not the hallmark of an artist who is unfailingly true to himself....well, you are invited to listen to some more until you get it."

I'd really like to know Sony's reasons for doing this.

6:53, obviously Sony sees money in this.

Anonymous said...

The reason? Really? They are in the business to make money. It's certainly not for Adam's benefit, although I think Adam will benefit from it.

Anonymous said...

Reason: $$$$$$$$

Anonymous said...

That's not fair. Just when he's launching his new single with Avici. Well, I guess they want to recover their investment.

Sony wants to capitalize on the Q+A Concert Tour. Since Adam made his two albums for RCA, I guess they own the rights to his music. Sony is some how also connected to the Glee and Idol music. Adam probably won't make any money on this, but the publicity will be great for the Tour.

Adam will make money for the songs he wrote 'Trespassing' 'Aftermath' & 'Runnin' he gets song writer royalties from that.

It's a known fact that artists make very little money from CD sales. Hopefully this release will open Adam up to new potential fans.

Some money is better than none; and the publicity and exposure is priceless!!

Glass half full!!

At least Adam has some greatest hits; lots of artist can't even say that!

If this is so great and wonderful don't you think Adam would have said something by now. I feel like he is being betrayed by some of his fans by supporting this and what if he his working on getting a new label right now I am sure this won't be appreciated.

Sony executives may as well be singing, "Can't let you go"!!

If Adam does not say something soon; his silence to me, will speak louder than words. I am going to wait and see if he gives any support to this, if he does not; neither will I! my decision!

Don't care. Just pre-ordered my copy! Woot!

I wish Adam's album was coming out at the beginning of the Queen + Adam tour; not this!! Every darn time; the past comes back to taunt this beautiful, kind talented man! But, people will eventually reap what they sow; if their intentions are not good ones. Do not mess with our Adam!

I think RCA/SONY got blindsided. It was a huge surprise to them that Adam would get the gigs with Queen. First Las Vegas, then the big tour. They didn't see that coming. Now Adam is a hot commodity that slipped thru their fingers. Even though Adam had already done some gigs with Queen, I don't think they thought it would come to anything. Now they are grasping at straws to possibly woo Adam back, and let him sing and write his own music.

It's number 77 on amazon best sellers list! That Hollywood Reporter article is really helping. http://www.amazon.com/Playlist-Very-Best-Adam-Lambert/dp/B00JVQ7RK0/

I feel like I am in twilight zone. 8:16 helping who? Not Adam 8:14 I don't think they are trying to woo him back .

Adam is not upset about this. He would've said so if he was. Shoshanna said it's ok to buy it so why the wank comments?

Anonymous said...

Adam would have mentioned it if he was pleased with it. Shosh was taking care of business being as gracious and diplomatic as she could, her job of course it is technically ok to buy .

@7:25 it is Avicii single not Adam.

way OT
I never heard any response from Adam, about his oldest fan passing away. She was 93. She came to the Glam Nation concert in a wheel chair, and Adam met her and talked to her, and had their picture taken together. I thought he would at least put something on his twitter. I wondered if he ever got the news.

8:55 no idea

7:27PM your right on the money! The Queen + Adam Lambert Tour. Now is the perfect time to capitalize on Adam's 'new' fame! Anything that gets Adam's name out there, I'm all for. I see nothing wrong with buying a legit album. Adam will be paid for the songs that he wrote and RCA/Sony may regret letting their deal with Adam slip thru their fingers! Who knew Queen + Adam Lambert concert would really happen? So now they have mud in their eye! I love it!

As Shoshanna tweeted if you like it buy it, if you don't like it don't buy it. She tweeted artists make some money from these type of albums but most of their money is made by doing other things. It's a legacy album. Some fans want to have it or give it away as gifts. Casual fans will buy it in hope of buying other albums. Like I bought Queen's greatest hits and ended up buying bunch of their other albums. It's all good. Adam gets publicity from this. Priceless in and on itself!

Lol some people here are just so cray. Sony releases lots of these compilations. It doesn't have any deep meaning other than they thought he was someone they could make a few bucks on. It's a business.

Anonymous said...

What is so hard to understand about this??????????

Anonymous said...

In Europe most artists have what they call over there 'a best of', a collection of great songs. It's extremely common. Nothing negative, only more exposure for artists.

Anonymous said...

You all sound like a broken record....he he!
Same comments in how many threads now???
Why don't you tweet and ask Adam? He gets so many cray twats anyway, maybe he will answer...

Anonymous said...

Sheesh! That pic of Adam is so darn SEXY!!!

Anonymous said...

Cray twats .... haha!!
"The crazy train is ready to roll".

Sony, in my opinion were short sighted and certainly will regret loosing Adam. Adam's hanging with the creme of la creme now.

'true to himself'! A trait of greatness has been recognized finally!

@3:05 AM You tell us how many threads. You obviously live on this blog full time.

I left my positive comment at the bottom of the article. Of course Sony is taking advantage of Adam's increasing visibility, but it sure doesn't hurt Adam either.

Anonymous said...

Sony is a business. Nice to see they think Adam is a profitable investment. They must feel pretty sure the cost of this new release will be returned many times over.

Anonymous said...

If Adam's has a copywrite (sp) on many of these songs, can they do this without his permission? Don't they HAVE to give him some compensation?

@Anon 3:31 PM
All of the songs on the album (in fact all of his legit albums...) are owned by the label that paid for the music and the album, as far as we know. Adam has some writing credits on many songs, especially from Trespassing, which are overseen by a separate company that he hired a couple of years ago or so, to make sure he gets his percentage of the royalties properly. They will make sure that happens... Beyond that, Adam doesn't own his music as far as we are aware. Some artists, for instance Michael Jackson, buy their music catalog from the label, often for millions of dollars.. Otherwise, no control for all intents and purposes. Pretty much the way it works in the music biz. Shoshanna has said that artists don't make their money from their music, but from the concerts, the tours, the events, etc.. that the artists do, and the music helps to make them more well known and in demand.
