BRIAN MAY Says ADAM LAMBERT 'Finds His Own Way' With The QUEEN Songs!

QUEEN last month returned to North America for a 24-date arena tour with "American Idol" finalist Adam Lambert once again fronting the band.
QUEEN members Brian May and Roger Taylor admit that their current collaboration with Lambert is a better fit than their previous involvement with legendary rock singer Paul Rodgers.
"He's sensational," Taylor tells Oakland Press. "I describe him as almost a camp Elvis [Presley]. He has this unbelievable range, 'cause [late QUEEN singer] Freddie [Mercury] had a great range. Adam can really cover it. He's an extraordinary singer and a real talent. I feel he fits into our sort of theatricality. It was very comfortable."
May adds: "One of the greatest things about Adam is that he's never an imitator. He finds his own way with the songs, and that's what we all want. We want our music to be alive and dangerous and still open to change. Freddie in particular would hate to have things reproduced the way they were. We take it to different places — that's exciting, and I don't think we'd be doing it if we didn't think we were actually going into new territory."
May also defended QUEEN against critics who don't think the band should ever play again because Freddie is no longer alive to front the group.
"People want to hear QUEEN music," the guitarist explains. "They want to hear it done great, and they want to have Roger and I play and we love to play. Neither Roger or I are desperate to go out and do what we did, because we did it. It's not like we're always looking for someone to sing for us. Organically, this happened with Adam. We just felt good about it, and we wouldn't be here if we didn't feel it was right and natural. So having this opportunity is great for me. We're still alive, thank God, and we're still healthy enough to go out and tread the boards one more time."
QUEEN's North American tour with Lambert winds down on July 28 at Toronto, Ontario's Air Canada Centre.
The threesome first shared the stage during "American Idol" in May 2009 for a performance of "We Are The Champions". They teamed up again in 2011 at the MTV European Music Awards in Belfast, Ireland for an electrifying eight-minute finale of "The Show Must Go On", "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" and in the summer of 2012, Lambert performed a series of shows with QUEEN across Europe as well as dates in Russia, Ukraine and Poland. They also performed three sold-out gigs at London’s Hammersmith Apollo.
In 2008, May and Taylor, who had been touring with Rodgers as QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS, released the chart bomb, "The Cosmos Rocks", before calling it a day as a trio and a recording entity — despite a string of globally sold-out concerts.

the apples and oranges comparisons are getting repetitive. Freddie was from a different era. Adam was 9 when Freddie left this world, so I don't think the comparisons are legit. Adam and Freddie share two things: great voices and strong charisma. Adam was the right man for QUEEN.
Roger describing Adam as a "camp Elvis" hopefully well make the peeps (that are always complaining when Elvis' name is mentioned on this site) hesitate before making a rude comment. Probably not, but hope so. . . . Adamluv
@Adamluv Rude commenters can't help themselves. They open their mouth and their brains fall out.
Adam doing so well and it's killing those rude commenters /trolls. Nothing they can say will hurt Adam in the least little bit. I think old Lol going to explode before the Queen tour is over. Then he on to more great things. That things. That particular person goes on every single article about Adam and spreads lies and hatred.
Nothing good will come of a person like that. They figure no one knows who they are but someone does. Look at all good things finally happening for Adam. He just keeps working taking and making opportunities working hard. So many more people now are becoming fans and he deserves it. It's happening in my own family. Hatred is such a miserable thing for no apparent reason either. Love is a much more beneficial thing. This persons hate will eventually destroy that person and other haters at least they will not advance in life very well acting that way. Adam loves people and it shows he such a wonderful person and talent. I get upset with Lol in particular and other trolls. I am going to try and remember there not hurting him any just themselves. Try not to respond to them any more but can't promise any thing. lol in particular needs barring from this site not fair to the ones who care a lot for h and looks bad for new fans. That's what they want to make him look bad to any new people. Yes he does have new fans sure if that person around they will jump on here and say nasty stuff to me. Could care less! Sue
11:45 am, it is repetitive for you because you read all the reviews. Most people won't. They will only read the review for their city. The mentions of Freddie are to be expected. Try looking beyond the end of your selfish nose.
ADAM is ADAM - One in a billion, thank you Universe!
Yes, all these reviews are similar and of course, that's because I read them all. A camp Elvis ..... hmmmmm, not sure I agree with that but then I'm not an Elvis fan. Adam is Adam!
What I see from opening night in Chicago until now is a cautious respectful Adam performing to a more relaxed, I am going to let all of me out and set fire to the stage Adam. People are loving him. :)
Brilliant statement Adam is Adam. Really? You are too smart for this blog. Duh.
anon 1:53 comparing the two gets repetitive. they are from two different eras of music. there shouldn't be any comparing. logic
9:36, once again, repetitive for you because you read them all. Not repetitive to a person reading one review online or reading the review for the concert in their city. Adam is stepping into the front man role Freddie created. People expect to read a comparison. Paul Rogers was compared as well. Doesn't matter if it is two different eras it is the same band and the same songs. Your logic is flawed.
