Quite the interesting (and odd) review.  Mostly gushing praise for Adam but not so much for Brian & Roger: the critic, Thomas Treo, actually taking it to the depths of massive disrespect.  But I do have to give him (or his editor?) points for originality for his the title of the review could it be a new idiom for the Lambert Lexicon?

ESKTRA BLADET: Slambert Stole Queen's Show
by Thomas Treo
via Google Translate

Incredible Adam Lambert raised his legacy of Freddie Mercury in front of 15,000 in Herning

Queen without Freddie Mercury? Is not it pointless as Gasolin 'without Kim Larsen, beer without alcohol or football without the ball?

It would think, but the reality was different in Herning Sunday evening when Adam Lambert strolled around in the legendary front man's big footsteps and kicked, bulging and song new life into one of rock's most beloved bands.

Completely in Queens extravagant spirit became a wild, flamboyant and hysterical tribute to the British amazing feats from primarily heyday in the 1970s, and if anyone needed reminding that the quartet had many hits, so were you reminded of Jyske Bank BOX.

The arena had been sold out since November, and 15,000 merrily tiljublende(?) audiences got the expected schlager parade with more served as rock theater wearing high heels and even higher hair.

Hopelessly guitar stunt

Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor are the only remaining members of the original crew, and it was not only the former's famous poodle yarn that was fairly intact, for his bombastic lirede guitar playing was also to recognize.

Personage had not needed to sing a half sickening 'Love of My Life' in duet with Mercury, which suddenly appeared on the big screen. More than 23 years after the legend's death was May troth watery eyes at the sight of his old friend, and it seemed to say the least pathetic.

A painful solo guitar stunt on well up against a neighborhood felt like a quarter, and there was probably more fun out on the windswept parking lot.

Paradoxically, slamberten Lambert was missed when Taylor unnecessary muttered 'These Are the Days of Our Lives' and 'A Kind of Magic', which was very, very little magic in a very disjointed performance of 140 minutes.

Midway was the assembly subjected to a bland bass solo, and even a drum battle between Taylor and his son Rufus, who could not steal the show from another lad, charismatic Lambert.

Majestic karaoke

The former 'American Idol' participant from Indianapolis owned simply stage and already initially squealed tenor terrific versions of glorious' Fat Bottomed Girls' irresistible' Another One Bites the Dust 'and a Queens hardest rock songs,' Stone Cold Crazy '.

In a classic studded finale culminated nostalgia in the form of potent versions of the massive 'I Want It All' bold 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love' and the incomparable 'Bohemian Rhapsody' with Mercury back on the big screen.

When it was good, it was damn good, and when it was bad, it was fucking bad, but all in all it was a kind of majestic karaoke with dramaqueenen Lambert who triumphed.

One of those evenings where this stuff, and you do not really believe your eyes and ears.

The way I see this review, a lot was lost in the translation, as have ALL the other translated reviews. He did not care for the Bran solo in the middle of the show, and he is not the first reviewer to say this. I got out of it that when Adam was front and center, it was a good show, but that it was broken up with a section, that was less than rock music, and Brian was teary eyed pathetic, and that part of the show could have been left out, along with the rest of the band who played a part in that 20 or 30 minutes. I don't agree with him, but that is what I got out of his review, along with a bad translation. It's also not the first time I have heard that Adam has stolen the show, Which I have to say that I do agree with that part. I love Brian and his incredible guitar playing, but I love Adam and his incredible voice more. Anne Marie

I should remember to proof read, miss spelled Brian's name. :(

The part the reviewer hated was the part I loved. Oh well to each their own.

Well, bad translation or not, and I do believe that each reviewer is entitled to his/her opinion ... BUT slamming Dr. Bri and Roger - who are not only VERY, VERY good but legends -- is not ok in my book. L

Nasty, uncalled for and unnecessary remarks about Brian and Roger who are the lifeblood of Queen. If it weren't for them, there would be no tour ... with or without Adam. I thought their individual performances were great and I suspect diehard Queen fans would agree. It's not just about Adam though thousands wouldn't agree with that. Adam is a FABULOUS performer and he makes the songs come alive, in a live show but it's the whole production that makes it so outstanding - the brilliant songs whole band and all the work behind the scenes.

There have been several reviewers who think that the middle part of the show slows down the whole thing, and it only livens up again, when Adam is back, singing with the band. The band get quite a bit of solo work, even when Adam is on the stage. I love to hear Brian, he can make that guitar sing, like nobody else. I love him best when Adam finishes a song, or even in the middle of a song, and he does a solo part.
Same goes for Roger. There would be no reason to take out the couple of songs that Roger and Brian sing. Brian has been criticized from the beginning for the long solo, when he does solos all through the show.

Seems to me the reviewers who don't like the guitar and drum solos are too young to have experienced original rock bands. Those were the days where instrument solos were almost de rigueur. The bands and most of the audience were happily stoned so just grooved along.
Audiences now are easily bored.
So unfortunately there are going to be lots of these reviews.
However, I hope Brian and Roger can ride them out. I absolutely loved Brian's solo - and I wasn't even stoned this time.

choons, you and I were at totally different concerts. You may have been stoned but it's not true that most of the audience was. Maybe you were a Deadhead.

I think the Google Translate is what makes some people think the review is odd or bad. We've had some reviews properly translated and they no longer sound odd or rude. I wouldn't worry until a someone fluent translates it.

At first I laughed because it sounded like the reviewer was suggesting that Brian and Roger shouldn't be participating in their own lives. Then I figured he must be joking because, no matter how good Adam is (AND HE IS FANTASTICALLY GOOD), he is in the company and shadow of longtime recognized geniuses; QUEEN is Brian's and Roger's "house," their creation. their technical skills. Adam knows this and thanks them for inviting him onto their platform ONLY because he IS fantastic...like they are. I don't see how any reviewer could miss this reality. So...he MUST have been joking.

Love all these comments . It's nice to really discuss and no one rushing in here like gangbusters whining about links and context ect.

The lack of respect shown to Brian and Roger was idiotic. While Adam received much deserved praise, it does not make up for the very immature comments to the Queen originators. We have seen the reverse reactions in some previous reviews which just means some people cannot be regarded as able to give a factual review of a concert. People just have to see and hear the concerts for themselves in order to judge.

The reviewer obviously didn't know Queen at all. The song choices are all relevent to their legendary history of music. Not all of the albums had Freddie's involvement. After all it was really 4 members that made up Queen. To disregard the importance of Roger and Brian's legacy is pure ignorance of who and what Queen is. Thank heavens Adam gets it. He is appreciative and gives them the credit for the mentorship he is receiving. They have done wonders to promote Adam's career. And BTW, does the reviewer actually consider people buying the tickets (as Queen fans) expected highlights from Roger, Brian, and bandmembers too? It isn't Adam Lambert + Queen after all.

Anonymous said...

I meant to say not all the albums were all Freddie. Variations of the band's other members did solos too.

Wow, so many judgmental comments made off of Google Translate. It is never a good idea to rely on GT for an accurate translation. Usually people laugh at what GT comes up with.

I'm with you 6:55 Am

At least Adam respects the members of Queen!

Oh and yes kicked, BULGING and singing . . . that's our boy!

Google and other online engine translations should be marked "Red Alert for misunderstandings, highly probable the original meaning of the text gets lost!"

The younger people, also of the so called journalists, belong to these generations who have rather a short span of concentration... a solo of 8-10 minutes just is too much for them...when nothing else is happening.

I'm in total bliss during Brian's solo (also in other solo's of his during the show) and "in need of this more quiter moment" in the show. I also LOVE that lately Roger's been singing both TATDOOL and AKOM and his voice is the voice of a long time rocker, and I love it.

I get that in today's ultra fast, all the time and more rapidly changing world these moments in the show are not for everybody, but there's no need to be ugly about it. Maybe good to remember that one day it's your turn to be critiqued....

Once again if a reviewer has a different opinion the reviewer gets hate and derision.

Why even bother to post less than perfect reviews here.

@choons
I so agree with you!

There's no hate or derision; why try to twist things? There are such things as respect and announcing your likes/dislikes in a respectful manner.

10:53 AM, here are just a couple examples that are not respectful of the reviewer's opinion.

Nasty, uncalled for and unnecessary

The lack of respect shown to Brian and Roger was idiotic.

very immature comments

some people cannot be regarded as able to give a factual review

Anonymous said...

Just ignore them. They are always going to complain if it isn't a 100% perfect review. All must love and praise Adam and Queen as much as they do.

I'd prefer to ignore your comment. You post it on every thread & quite frankly ... I'm really tired of reading it!! Same old ... same old ... turn the record over & play us a different tune!! TYVM

Adam had a wonderful review here and Adam has done a brilliant job in every show even just judging by the videos. I also saw one he was fabulous. However the whole show is great and the professionalism and talent of every member of this band and certainly Adam makes it a wonderful show!
Brian, Rodger and all of them have done a great job. The entire show is wonderful.
There a way of putting things if you don't like some thing in these shows without being so nasty. I do have to say Adam has always been so respectful of the Queen members he never acted like this show was his always projected how proud he was to be a part of this Quern production.

To me the entire show and all the performances made it out to be such top notch production. Loved all of it. Sue

That was Queen production. 4.04

Very disrespectful and nasty review of the Queen+Adam concert. Seems to me that this so called critic was trying to throw a wedge of hate between Queen members and Adam.

How do you think Queen's fans must feel when they read this type of garbage? The same way Adam fans feel when they see hateful remarks about Adam; not to mention that most of us are fans of both.

Brian does not stand for such talk against Adam; it and calls even his so called fans out on it.

Good to defend Brian and Roger against this tabloid type trash!!
Some opinion are not worth tolerating!

1:21 I can only speak for myself and that pretty much sums it up for me. LOL

Anonymous said...

9:37 because we like to read them and make comments. Don't come here if you can't handle it.

Google translation leaves a lot to be desired. Wonder did it occur that there would have been no show without Queen and or Adam. Did this person even pay or get in to see the show? There were satisfied fans at every venue, who paid their hard-earned cash. A review like this trashes the fans too, which is totally uncalled for in the face of general critic and fan acclaim. I think Brian has earned the right to his solo time on-stage and Roger has the right also to bring his vocal talent to the stage.

That reviewer most probably tarnishes the reputation of Denmark in the eyes of Queen loving fans (foreign and domestic). Wasn't this the first time Queen visited Denmark? Herning audience was great though, lots of people from other neighbouring countries there too.
