I have a confession to make, hope I'll be forgiven, lol .I wasn't impressed at all by The Original High cover art, a good photo of a handsome man but nothing special about it. This photo, o-ho, this is another story, it takes me directly to mythology and the art of photography. It is a remarkable game of putting bits of some of Adam's previous photos so as to create the ambiguous image of a man-werewolf, taking off/putting on a hairy mask.
A fascinating photo!
In the Romanian mythology the men-werewolves , during an eclipse ,eat the Sun and the Moon, from now on, be aware, when you see the red moon in the sky , be sure, Adam has just had a bite! LOL

The impression I get from this picture: Adam is itself a vampire and he bites himself. I think the picture is great and symbolic.

Thought-provoking imagery. I assume this is a still from the new music video, but I guess we'll find out next week when they show it on Entertainment Tonight!

Pan, I forgive you... because I had the same thoughts when I saw the OH cover art. LOL Maybe that's because I see Adam as more of an interesting, "colorful" personality. I didn't say anything before because it seems like a lot of the other peeps really like it and I didn't want to be a Debbie Downer. ;) That said, it's not going to stop me from buying numerous copies of the album!!!

I think it's possible the new cover art (which I totally love)could have been purposely chosen in contrast to FYE so buyers could immediately see where Adam currently is in his life.

Anonymous said...

@6:31 AM
I totally agree with you! Your observation is spot on, in my opinion!

The TOH cover is just perfect at this time, for those peeps who are not familiar with Adam. That gorgeous cover is just what we needs right now, to package that one in a Billion Voice, and that handsome face; that could launch a thousand ships; so to speak! Perhaps something like this intriguing amazing art work and image, can be used on a future album or single; or it may be something in the video; who knows? But, I must say, it is very interesting! There are so many colors to our beautiful man; he is simply ADMAZING!!!

Quoting Adam himself,
"IT'S HAPPENING"!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Isn't he a tad too old for this sort of Twilight saga imagery?

Anonymous said...

@7:28 AM

NO, Adam is not too old for anything; art knows no age! Besides, Adam is still a young man in the prime of his life!

Perhaps you should check out some covers of David Bowie's and other singing stars throughout the ages; you might find them very interesting.

This image of Adam, is after he is in a hallucinating state after too much weed and tequila. It is not a happy picture, and I don't believe that the song is a happy song. It is very dark, in several layers. Not sure how it is going to do, with the general public. I know Glamberts are flailing over it, but I am sure he is hoping it will appeal to other people. It just might, be a big hit, stranger songs have made it big.

Just thinking that the vampire theme sounds rather teenagey.

The video is not out yet and we do not know what it will be like. Adam is no spring chicken but perhaps he is trying to reach outside his existing fanbase and get the attention of the younger segment.

Kath said...

A snippet of a song. A still from a video.
He is toning down his image and vocals for pop lyrics for sales. To old for vampires?
I can only laugh at how imaginations can form such quick judgements.
I think it's fun how Adam is such a tease. After all he is in control.

Anonymous said...

I sincerely hope that this single is not what we can expect about the rest of the album. He did say in an interview, that the album will be different genres. I hope so.

Anonymous said...

Adam has always had a deep fascination about vampires all his life. So this is not a surprise.

Anonymous said...

8:13 Really? I think Glitzylady asked a couple posts of some instagram pics, how you can presume such a thing? These kind of comments without calling it an opinion is really not respectful to the art and the artist. He eludes to a city of vampires. Could it be possible it just means those that suck the life out of you? Maybe, maybe not, but that's for each of us to interpret but not presume it to be true or not true. We create our own personal OPINION but to put assumptions on Adam is not cool.

Well I can tell you that Teen Wolf draws a huge audience of teens and adults. I don't watch it, but I know my grandkids do, and so do their parents. The grandkids have posters and watch every episode. If they miss one, they get upset. So, this direction is not surprising. Even during Idol and Adam's second take on Mad World was expressed by Randy as very "Twilight." And Adam has expressed loving and watching True Blood. He is always up-to-speed on what is getting attention. Teen world and otherwise. He is emersed in the culture of this and enjoys it.

Anonymous said...

8:39
OK, that's my opinion. Take it or leave it. Your choice.

Anonymous said...

7:55 AM Adam isn`t so young, he is almost middle aged...

Anonymous said...

I will definitely watch the video, but I see no need to buy it. I have ordered the album though.
Adam said he will tour if the album is a success, is he thinking that there might not be a tour/ I was a bit confused by that statement. Unless it was his way of saying, if you don't buy the album, then I wont tour, it's up to us, to see if it is worth it to him to tour.

Anonymous said...

8:52 AM

Who cares, most of his fans seem to be much older...

Anonymous said...

When I first heard the song. I thought Adam probably wrote the line about vampires. Love the picture. Can't wait for the video!!

Anonymous said...

8:36 AM

Adam is 33 and it is a bit unusual that a man of his age is so fascinated by fairytale creatures such as vampires and werewolves.

A video with a theme like that(?) sounds somewhat risky and some people may even find it ridiculous if it is not made in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way.

Anonymous said...

Where is this time line of what a person can and can't do besides in your head 8:52am

Anonymous said...

@9:14 AM If you want someone to agree with you you will probably have to respond yourself pretending your not you.

Anonymous said...

No need to get upset and I wasn't looking for agreement. I was just expressing my thoughts, just like anyone else around here.

I love this picture above for the video of Ghost Town. But as a album cover no Adam made the right choice. It shows more where Adam style is now.

The important thing is the contents of the album. I believe that content by Adams words has something for every one. I believe it will be amaizing. In my opinion GT is, I simply love that song. I can't listen to it enough. You want to get out the song that is believed by the producers, record label and Adam to be most commercially successful the first time, the first single. Some may have preferred a power ballad and I sure one will be released on
The album. Certainly has a bigger chance if the first single is successful. I do believe GT for the first single will reach more age groupes and certainly some men and younger ones as well as most of Adams Glamberts that will love buy the song when the tv promotions get going. I think Adams in very good hands with WB music. Seems like a very smart move they got Afams album on ET first then more will see it before it goes to video stations more will be aware of it and hopefully vote for it. Adam worked hard through things like Glee and QAL and TV shows abroad expand his fan groupe think it sure has especially abroad. Yes Queen afforded him more opportunities. But Adams talent and stage prescience won them over.

I started to say something about Adams song in front of one of my therapist.they said by who I said Adam Lambert she said oh I love him so much. Told her yesterday Adam would be on Ellen on the 30th she said she's going to tape it. I think There are more people now that love Adam now than we think. There will always be the negative people but the ones that really like and love him largely out weigh the other. The positive out weighs the negative all celebrities have.
Adam needs that one big song and I think he has it with GT GT. That's just my opinion. I meant to say I think it is a good move that Adams Video of GT will premier on ET next week first. Then he should get more votes on the video channels when the video goes there. I meant the video not the album. Hope they talk about the album as well since they interviewed him I believe. Sue

I think the trolls are saying just enough nonsense that they think they can get by with without getting their comment removed. Adam no spring chicken beyond ridiculous and absurd. 33 is very young he in the prime of his life. But when Adam is older he will still be an amaizing productive talent. Some of the silly age comment a long with the stupid weed comments sounding like such immature people hopefully some day in the future they will mature stop making childish untrue comments. Will buy the video and I adore the single GT. Best ever.

Dee R Gee said...

Of course, Adam needs to sell lots of Adam in order to tour. Bottom line. Touring is expensive. I think future singles from TOH will keep the album active. We have to buy and support as much as we can. After all the promo, it's up to the buyers.

As for vampire and folklore themes, the books and movies and such that are out there are being bought by all ages, but just a young demographic. They are not age-exclusive interests.

Just played GT a huge bunch of times this morning! Can't wait to see the video!

Dee R Gee said...

Haha! Meant in my first line above, "Adam needs to sell lots of ALBUMS in order to tour." :)

Dang DRG, I was going to hurry and put in an overnight delivery order for Adam.

I beg to differ. I don't think you are immature, childish or stupid if you find weed off-putting, legal or not in your country. Also, being a spokesperson for any drug is an irresponsible and unnecessary thing to do.

This is just one still from the video. Just one single image. I don't that think alone shows us if the video has a vampire theme or not, regardless of our views of Adam, his age, vampire themes, etc.

We've seen evidence that there is also possible western elements, old Hollywood snippets, etc. in the video as well. An assortment of various images.

In my personal opinion, from the limitation of what we can tell at this point.... That vampire-esque image is likely a single image to go along with that single line: "city of vampires".
- a symbolic reference, perhaps, (vs. Adam "starring" as a vampire character) to tangiblize a lyrical concept; Among many other images symbolizing many things. According to Adam and collab writers in GT, these are metaphorical lyrics... Subtle... Not literal. I think the image may likely be metaphorical as well.

As for the fact that the image is there... And Adam's age..... IMO, the age appropriateness depends on how it's done. Marketeability speaking, actors who are significantly older than Adam are starring as comic book characters, super heroes, and fairly-tale characters these days.... And being hugely successful doing so - even appealing to older middle age markets.

How the scene is directed, shot and produced is key, I think.

I just wanted to mention that some of the most popular TV shows currently that feature supernatural themes are watched by all ages (depending on the show).. So to say that a supernatural-themed music video (if that's what it turns out to be... we don't know that yet...), is not a not a good idea ("risky"), isn't necessarily true.. It could be downright awesome!!!! It's all in how it's presented...and directed.... and who's in it :)))

Shows like "American Horror Story", "Grimm", "Once Upon A Time", "Gotham", "Sleepy Hollow", ""True Blood", "Supernatural", "The Walking Dead", "The Originals"... appeal to a wide variety of ages..

Some people don't like them, some do.. But they are all very popular and get good ratings..

The Dark Side said...

The thought that 33 is over the hill is laughable. I guess the female artists who pander to a younger audience is ok in these narrow minds. Adam will always have his detractors who try to bring the fanship down...mores the pity!

10.33 ce on when has Adam ever openly endorsed weed. Has he got on a TV show a national TV show and endorsed it if he had I say he openly endorsed it of course he has not. That would be oprnly endorsing to the masses like going on an award show or any national TV show and smoking it or openly encouraging it to the masses that would be openly endorsing it. Certainly some celebs
Have.
The age comments are very imarure.

9:28 AM
i agree with her/him , i think this vampires nonsense is too corny for Adam :/

Anonymous said...

I guess we have nothing to talk about, until we see the video, and what Adam had in mind about the song. We may still have different points of view even then. I abhor all the shows glitzylady mentioned, but that's just me. I despise fantasy shows, even though I am sure there is an audience for them. Hollywood is ramming them down our throats, until there is not much else to watch on TV. I also am not a fan of reality shows.
I hope for Adam's sake that this single will appeal to enough people to be a huge success.
His second album topped the charts, then plummeted by the second week. He might hit the overseas fans with a tour, before the US.

glitzylady said...

I suggest we wait until we actually SEE the music video before we start critiquing it... All of this conversation here is based on exactly ONE still frame of the video (we assume...).. and there will be much more that goes into it..

I'm very excited to see what the final result is.. It's a shame to start putting it down and dismissing it even before we know what it's truly all about..

9:58AM :)...... I agree with your first sentence 100%. Whatever can get things stirred up, cackles up, change the momentum an topic of the thread, put peeps on the defensive and gain attention is the key to those comments, it seems. (I'm not referring to differing opinions/thoughts/ideas - ie: in a manner of discussion - I'm referring to a certain type of comment that is usually clip jab, an only critical, provocative remark about Adam & his life/music in a "drive-by shooting" style. It becomes fairly easy to notice and differentiate after a while and among many threads). To myself, I will say "scroll the troll" and not engage. Still, I was thinking the same.... The "hit and run" but "fly under the radar" type of approach now.
I thought that was pretty insightful, 9:58PM. Thanks for pointing it out, so we can ignore those particular type of comments.

Also appreciated other points in your post, too (not just that one)! :))

..... And so many others posts here. Great exchange of ideas, thank you!

Go Adam go :))

yada said...

Hi glitzy :))..... Personally, I don't think all of those critiques are from legitimate fans/interested persons. I think there are some "mini jabs" inserted in places here place to keep the thread rather stirred up and going in certain directions.

Tweeny said...

11:08 You think this new take on Adam's song is corny. Some people would say it is another direction. Glam was his first direction and he says he has moved on from all the over-the-top make-up and costuming. This is a subtle way to maintain his love for the "outside the normal" genre. Halloween and ghoulish dressing up is part of "playing a part." Millions practice it every year. Adam has expressed many many times as some of the most fun times. Let the man enjoy using the current trends to capitalize on a genre he also enjoys. I don't think the whole album is about vampires, etc. One song does not make Adam this one dimensional character. Many adults enjoy the shows that glitzlady talked about. Quite frankly, I'm tired of the unreal "reality" shows, but I don't think they would stay as popular if others didn't support them. Each to their own. I love this particular take on a broken heart. Love lost, etc. New, fresh, and totally current! IMHO
And for anyone who thinks 33 is old, think about Adam Levine(Maroon 5 and Adam howls in one of his latest #1 songs), Blake Shelton, Pharell, Ryan Tedder (One Republic) Pink, Madonna. All over the age of 35 and a couple in there 40's and 50's still topping the charts. This idea that 33 is too old for anything is ludicrous! Artists are relevant as long as 1 person likes the art they create.

yada said...

.... Having shared my thoughts above on that, I'll shift gears.

I am TOTALLY excited and stoked about all the amazing things happening with GT this week, TOH, Adam's career and recognition..... Yea, baby!

Can hardly wait to see this video!! :))

yada said...

Hi Tweeny :).... I could be mistaken, but I think it's probable that 11:08 is trolling and not trying to offer a concerned or real opinion.

I wouldn't ever want to accuse or misrepresent anyone, but thinking you can relax .... feel positive about things .... And ignore that (and similar style of) comment. If it's a troll, it's purpose is to gain attention and control of the thread, and intentionally get you upset. We're all better all that silliness!

Relax and enjoy this amazing man & artist.... A and the incredible direction his project is taking. He's poised for success! :)))

I'm happy Adam shared this little window into his video with us!

Dee R Gee said...

It is very true that all these "other-worldly" fantasy subjects are very popular now to people of all ages. Whatever this video turns out to be, I'm sure it will attract a lot of viewers. It's produced by a guy who does vids for major stars. The GT video can go in a number of directions, maybe a combination of them: vampires, the Old West, the decadence of Hollywood, classic movie actors and singers (Dean and Elvis), ghosts, etc. There is a lot crammed into that song. It think a few key elements have been chosen to make a very interesting video. Starring: Adam Lambert. :)
Been playing the lyric video a lot today!

I vowed not to comment again but this time I will break my vow. I don't see a vampire-esque image in this pic ... what I see is a man 'dreaming' on the one hand & another image of what that dream may be therefore causing him (ADAM) to be grimace-ing with angst b/cuz of those images ... hence having a 'nightmare'!!! Just as the song says .. "died last night in my dreams" ... that would cause anyone to have that type of look .... not all this 'weed/drug induced/ BS!! "walked into the flames ... called out your name ... nobody answered'!! That says a full-blown .. can't wake up from ... Nightmare to me!! JMHO ... don't shoot me yet ... let's just wait & see ...

I agree with you 12.17. You mean they got the weed nonsense from this picture I was wondering. This is a picture. You have to see the video before you say things. I highly doubt that what Adam had in mind I think 12.17 for closer to it. Watch the whole damn video before you make assumptions. Sure you people will think of something else
Just as wrong. You'll keep digging to come up with something. Does not matter GT Amaizing sure the video will be to. It's a dream that's more what this looks like to me.

10:33am and others it may concern!

Please don't twist what the poster said! You must find it very hard to keep defending all your negative posts. Look, Adam is on his way to the top. Either try to help him continue on this beautiful journey or continue to wallow in your jealously and hate tirades! No one can stop him now so, all your negative little jabs are fruitless. This goes for you and any other small minded jealous little person on this thread! Just remember these words uttered by our man with the beautiful youthful soul, when he first heard his magical song, "Ghost Town", on the radio, "IT'S HAPPENING"!

I hope he never loses the beautiful youthful spirit in his wonderful heart and soul. So either get on the Adam Lambert love and tolerance train; or be left in the dust of envy and hate that some of you seem to thrive on! Later, have a You Tube of Ghost Town to Watch!

Lambert Outlaw,

BRAVO; thank you for that! I can relate to what you are saying to closer to the truth then any descriptions that I have read so far! Right on to you! GREAT POST!
GREAT READ! I repeat; it sounds so right on to me and makes so much artistic sense!!!!

ps: Liked the way you addressed the crazies too!

Adam is a very handsome man and I think the cd cover pic is intended to appeal to a mass market segment. Nothing wrong with that, I felt the song was good and this was a great roll-out, but honestly I wanted it to be longer, a bit more. I hope the whole cd isn't too dark, even though I believe it will be something everyone can relate to. It also makes sense that yes Adam needs to sell big, in order for backing to tour to materialize. Trying to make one size fits all enough for people to put money out is difficult and I hope this video and cd is all that. At least, I can say this roll out is multi layered and well thought out by WB and Adam's management. This seems to be what we've all wanted for him. I'm going to get what I can afford to get.

@Lambert Outlaw 12:17, I might agree except Adam himself titled the instagram pic "City of Vampires" Pretty straightforward to NOT interpret a vampire theme. All he's missing is his vampire teeth from Halloween.

It's a line in GT and can be interpreted in many many ways. Just like Adam has said. And this applies to song lyrics in general.
