There's nothing cozier or more soothing than cuddling and/or napping with a dog. It looks like Adam knows the best receipe for "bonding"!

I read that stroking your pet will lower your blood pressure...probably because it is very relaxing and tension relieving.

I think Adam felt a void in his life. LUCKY PUPPY.

BTW ... I feel certain that it's a Basenji...or at least mostly a Basenji. They are noted for being barkless, i.e. physically incapable of barking. However, they are not mute, but can make other sounds, like growls.

Looks as though Pharoah is full grown. I hope he doesn't come with any bad habits! Adam deserves a "sweet potato", as he currently describes the dog. But I hope Adam can be firm with him, to keep him "sweet".

Awww, what a cozy picture....very lucky dog to have found a "daddy" like Adam <3333

I don't think he is full basenji. The neck, nose and legs are all too short for that. Looks like some kind of a mix to me. He definitely is adorable!

X... Sounds like you know Basenjis.../ maybe you have one? If so, you're probably right about it being a mix. I've never "met" one personally...only seen some rather unsatisfactory photos. You're right, though, he is adorable.

Nanbert, as a proud owner a basenji (as much as one can be an owner in this case... more like a roommate perhaps), Pharaoh doesn't resemble one very much. They have different physique - longer legs, different head and the eyes, they also have to have white markings.

But just because he isn't purebred doesn't mean he's not 100% adorable.

Ansat.. good info. Wonder what the "other part/parts" are? .. just out of curiousity. Lots of times "mixtures" turn out better....no offense meant, BTW.. because they're often more "just dogs" than a specific personality/type.

For example, I had, years apart, two purebred German Shephards, both gorgeous, both eerily intelligent. One was the most perfect dog I've ever known.. and the other was so dangerous that he finally had to be "put down"...so sad. Complete opposites!

For me every dog is first and foremost an individual being. Beside the basenji, we have two barbets. The first one is a perfect dog, always obedient and obliging, good as gold, even as a puppy he didn't destroy a thing, walks without a leash have been pure pleasure from his first day at our house, I don't think I raised my voice even once with him. The second one is a living, breathing storm on four legs, he never stops thinking, always creating a mess and testing our patience. He's amazing in his own way, he's insanely smart, quick in his decision, very determined, which makes living with him even more interesting. And they are the same breed, but every dog, as we humans, is an individual being with its traits and everything.

Guessing what the "other parts" are can be tricky... Pharaoh doesn't resemble much any breed I know of, but I'm curious too!

Actually, Anat, I can see a bit of Corgi, especially in those big erect ears, and somewhat in the face, neck and color. But the tail looks like what I've seen in Basenji photos. Who knows..doesn't matter... dogs are just great, and certainly individuals.

I hope Adam's is a very special one... a real pleasure always.
