I can't figure out why the Grammy's continue to ignore ADAM!! If Adele can win an award for a song that was released TWO years ago ... why can't ADAM be considered for an award as well?? I thought you had to have a song/album that was only recently released!! BS

Since we've segued into the Grammy discussion (which has nothing to do with the subject of this thread but certainly a current topic):

Regarding the rules for the music awards at the 59th Grammys (show on Feb. 12, 2017). Specifically what songs/music may be considered for nomination for awards, based on RELEASE DATES.

This is from Grammy.org FAQs:

"What are the eligibility requirements?
For the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2016. Recordings must be commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the Internet, or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year’s voting deadline (final ballot)."

To answer @LAMBERT Outlaw's question (above) re Adele's award winning song "Hello" and award winning album "25":

The album was released on November 20, 2015
The single, "Hello" was released on Oct. 23, 2015

Both were within the parameters of the eligibility requirements for the 59th Grammy Awards..

"What's the difference between an entry and a nomination?
The Recording Academy receives over 20,000 entries per year. Entries are recordings submitted for GRAMMY consideration. Entries that meet all eligibility requirements are then voted on by The Academy's Voting Members, and the results of that vote are the nominations."

"Who can vote?
Recording Academy Voting Members only. Media companies do not vote."

Perhaps next time around for Adam.. We do want to remember that Adam's first album "For Your Entertainment" had a Grammy entry, which became a nomination for him "Whataya Want From Me" in 2010. He didn't win the award but to be honest, it was a huge honor for him, being fresh off American Idol.. Some successful artist have never been nominated or have won a Grammy..

It just wasn't his year.. I suspect that Adam is less upset than his fans to be honest..

And yes, I do agree with @Lam-my.. the Grammy's do seem to reflect (to a greater and lesser extent) sales, radio play, streams, and artist popularity. And music "politics".. Although we do see some artists winning awards that are considered somewhat of a surprise..

I do think that Adam is a gracious, humble, and supportive man & artist who is genuinely happy for the artists who won the awards this year.. he's a very special man who will one day be recognized for the truly talented and worthy artist that he is.. We all know how special he is.. And I do hope his gifts will be rewarded, valued, and awarded in the years to come.. He's already an icon in more than a few areas.. And will have his place in history, with Queen and with his own solo career.. And for his courage and commitment to his community.

He's truly "one in a billion"..

Note: the above info from the Grammys.org link here

https://www.grammy.org/recording-academy/awards/voting-process/faqs

Note again: Adam's lead single "Ghost Town" was released on April 21, 2015. His album "The Original High" was released on June 12, 2015..
His album was not in contention for awards this time around..

Next time though........

Re: Grammy's. When Adele's 25 album and "Hello" debuted with such tremendous response, it was noted that many eligible and deserving artists would be eclipsed by her success, and it was probably not a good year to have had their work released. The Grammy's continue to be controversial for some, and many chose not to submit their work at all. So for all of the hoopla, it represents a limited perspective of the music industry. As Byron Cooke stated - Bohemian Rhapsody did not win an award the year it was released, but "Who Let the Dog's Out" did.

Byron Cooke's statement is hilarious....but also shows the idiocy and inconsistency of those awards shows.....and the woeful lack of talent of some of the nominees and winners.

Also, they get "stuck" in a pattern of continually awarding the same people over and over. I feel that the awards would be more democratic if awardees were limited to the number of nominations and/or awards they receive...it's too political.....same ol", same 'ol!

I really like Adele, and like "Hello", but think they should be ineligible for awards after a certain number of wins. That's just too easy...and lazy!

Now...JMHO....but gotta say it....RAP IS NOT MUSIC...it's TALKING, not singing... over a beat.

A recent article about the Grammy process, how it's evolved over the years.. Certainly some insights.. and some probable truths, both positive & negative..

Never the less, a Grammy is definitely a feather in the cap of the winners.. And was an honor for Adam Lambert to be nominated in 2010 for "Whataya Want From Me"...

"Are the Grammys really about good music? Sometimes, but not often enough
Do Grammy awards measure an artist, song or album’s quality, market share or some combination of the two?"
