I love this interview for many reasons: Adam's honesty, his humor, his poignancy. I also love how he acknowledges that not all gay kids have as easy a road as he had with his family. My heart aches when I hear stories about kids getting bullied or kicked out of their homes, or even abused. I love his self-awareness and sense of conscience.

My gay son did not have a big support system other than myself who wasn't at all sure how to understand him or help him move forward. He's no longer with us but his siblings all say they knew he was gay and was fine with it...they did not quite convey this to him at the time. This is much harder to navigate than it sounds.

This is also a possibility in our family .. not sure yet .. waiting to see what happens .. all we can do is give all the love & support & understanding when our loved one decides to open the door to their inner feelings!! It hasn't happened yet ... but the signs are there!! Yes or No ... our love will remain steadfast & true FOREVER!! UNCONDITIONALLY!! That's what LOVE is ... IMO!! I was sad to read about your son @The Dark Side ... I'll pray for him, you & your family!! Light 'n Love

I've seen this a couple of times but viewed it again start to finish. I guess being humane and human can never be outdated. This video not only helps youngsters, more importantly adults like their parents, teachers, guardians and even their siblings to understand it's okay to be gay; absolutely nothing wrong other than their supposedly weird behaviour which is natural to them. Even me sort of understood it clearer after following Adam, 8 years. If he were really weird, I would have left I think. lwl! I always give people a chance until I can't anymore for specific reasons or self-preservation cuz one needs also to protect oneself before we can think of protecting other people.

A recent event, 2015-16 NYE Singapore...20,000 petitions led by a certain church, were lodged against Adam performing at our NYE celebration which is a state-wide affair every year. It came as a shock to me; never had a gay-related problem of this magnitude before with regard a singer, Adam who had come several times already to perform in Singapore...so why now. It started me suspecting that Adam got caught in a likely political cross-fire; he was used as an excuse to stir up an uproar, a divide.
Well, as we know, Singaporeans stood behind Adam and signed 24,000 anti-petitions to the 20,000 against That night, Adam performed at our NYE to an audience of 10,000. The celebrations in total for that day 300,000. And to top that, Adam was re-invited to perform at the Singapore F1 Races 2016 later on; and that drew a record crowd of 80,000 at the QAL extravaganza.
Bottom-line: Singaporeans are very sound-minded people, no bullying regardless who you are. Most importantly, we know what we are doing! not only in this particular case, others just as pertinent as well.

Now watch how at home Adam is and how gracefully he inserted Singapore into the song.

Marion, quite insightful...
My take is everyone has feelings and even if they appear to be 'weird' we might take a deeper understanding as to why they seem devoid of compassion, love, consideration for other people other than always having to gain something.
Feelings to do good, love...these have to be nurtured and almost set at a young age. According to neuroscientists it could be due to an imbalance in the brain / hormones; strife, poverty, can also drive people to evil.
