Off topic question: can someone tell me why there are two versions of Adam performing Satisfaction on Idol?

I read that someone saw the second, and in their opinion much better, version on elimination night, and that that's when they became a fan. But I usually missed seeing Wednesday nights and never saw it on TV. I can't imagine why Adam would have performed it again, much less on elimination night....?

I finally found a copy of the second version on youtube recently, but have not gotten any reply about this question from youtubers.

Does anybody on this site know?

Ryan asked Adam to sing Satisfaction again
on the same night. I guess some like it better because he was more relaxed that the judges loved it. He was amazing both times but had more fun the second time.

That sounds like he performed it twice and they showed them both on TV on the same night? (That means I saw it and just don't remember? How could it be that I would forget something that epic?!)

I wish my cable company had that Fox Reality channel so I could have taped everything when Season 8 aired again right before this new season. I would probably wear that tape out!

Every Tuesday night the idols did a dress rehearsal with fans in the audience so they could work out any sound problems and maybe want to change something for the live show.

I went to two of the shows at Nokia so was able to watch two performances by each of the contestants at each show. Adam tweeked his live performances. The rest of the contestants sang pretty much the same thing twice.

At the beginning of the dress rehersals Ryan asked the audience to react as if they were watching the live performance. They did this also get the timing down to fit the length of the show. The judges did not watch the dress rehearsals. One of the producers gave the judges the length of time they would have to talk to the contestants based on the rehearsal times.

There is a video of Adam on Youtube showing maybe 15 seconds of all the songs from the dress rehearsal and the same 15 seconds live so you can compare the two.

There might be the same type of video for Kris, but I never looked for it as Adam had me at Bo
Rhap during auditions.

Hope this answers any questions as to why there are two different versions of Satisfaction. Somehow it was leaked, as there are no other full length videos of dress rehearsals that I know of.

Also it is Randy Jackson's job to quiet the audience as quickly as possible so the judges can get on with their work and so the show doesn't run over as it did for Adam's Mad World.

PS. My brother is one of the producers on Idol and there was quite a dressing down of the entire staff due to the fact that Mad World was not seen on live tv.

with regards to the satisfaction song, yes, Adam sang it on performance night and then the next night after they picked the safe candidates they asked him to sing at the end as well.

but also with regard to the Itunes versions, they are often different from the live versions. 19 asks the contestants to sing different version and they publish one, its the full songs so often different. with Adam he is so great at changing up songs but then on the itunes versions it was the same old original versions, for example with One by u2, satisfaction, tracks of my tears, I was very annoyed to hear the standard versions on itunes.

I've looked for and haven't found the 15 seconds of each of Adam's rehearsals with the same 15 seconds of the performance of each song. If anybody knows the link, please post it for all of us. :)

Also, Idol Producer Sister, I'm curious: do the judges NEVER watch the rehearsals? Paula was SO articulate last season that I wondered if she sat in on rehearsals to get her thoughts together.
