Adam Lambert 'Caught Off Guard' By Reaction To His Half-Shaved Head

It was only 3 inches, nothing more. And yet, that didn't stop the media from positively freaking out about Adam Lambert's brand-new half-shaved head, something he finds rather mind-blowing, especially considering his head really wasn't "half-shaved" to begin with.

"I was just talking about it with my makeup artist, who helped me shave a tiny piece of my hairstyle — it's just 3 inches up the side of head! And it's not bald, just very short," Lambert laughed during a conference call Friday (June 18). "I didn't think that was newsworthy! It caught me off guard and made me laugh that E! Online and MTV and People wanted to report on it. I'm flattered that they find it that important."

Uh, you're welcome! And even though plenty of websites — not to mention a large portion of his rather rabid fanbase — were sent into a panic by Lambert's new look, he was quick to point out that he didn't really see it as that drastic of a departure ... or even much of a fashion statement, really.

"I think [of it as] air conditioning," he laughed. "Some of these cities are really hot."

And those cities he's referring to are the ones he'll be hitting on his just-launched Glam Nation Tour, a trek he has previously promised would be a decidedly "theatrical" affair, and one that — not surprisingly — has already lived up to the advance booking.

"I tried to give it an emotional through-line, from the dark and serious to the light and celebratory ... but, of course, for me, 'dark and serious' also means lots of rhinestones," Lambert said. "There's a sense of theatricality to it. It's definitely glam."

Well, what's wrong with his hair, at least he is not a baldie, don't think he ever would be.

Adam has conquered everything he has tried due to his intelligence and entertainment savvy. He's one smart dude who knows what will sell for him and what won't. He's making all the right moves.

Please note I said nothing about his talent or looks.

They're young, they're hot, they're havin' a blast - look at Tommy, look at Monte - it's fun, and interesting and they're are beautiful together. Adam has put together a real glam team, on and behind stage so hang on - there are probably a lot more surprises coming as they rock through these long hot months together!! LOVE IT!!!

Adam knows how to have FUN, plain and simple, and I think he's teaching the rest of us to relax, enjoy life, and don't take everything so seriously. The world can be a pretty "serious" place (no kidding...) so we need to be a little crazy once in awhile (although shaving off a little strip of MY hair isn't gonna happen: Just couldn't pull off that look and my husband would be taking me to have "my head examined" and not just in the place where the hair was missing.... ). Love everything he does and definitely trying to enjoy the moment........My aforementioned husband's favorite saying is "Life is too short" and I think that applies here as well.....Worry about the really important things and just enjoy the rest....Working on that myself...

^ You are great, Glitzylady - always love reading your posts! :) And you have alluded that you are "older", so you have my full respect for having such a great attitude and open mind.

I could say the same for many other fans of Adams, too. Just love reading all the positive comments on this site.

So - Adam's hair. I think it is GREAT that the media is freaking over it! As shallow as this world has become, that shows that Adam is becoming a HUGE star!! For the press to get all in a tizzy about something as mundane as his hair means he's really arrived as a true, American star!! I am so happy for him that the press is buzzing about his hair. God, it sounds so pathetic to say that, but these days, that is a huge measure of success for an artist! Ha, ha!

Yes, most artists would get no notice at all if they did that. They find that Adam is just "controversial" enough to get people interested to see what that "bad wild child" has done this time!
