Anon #1, I think Adam is one of the most interesting social phenomena of this time. For his charisma beyond explanation and his talent, but most of all because he defies all rational explanations about traditional formulas for success in the entertainment business. I know about Adam since he was in AI, and Paula was right when she told him that he was going to be a great star, no matter what happened with that AI journey. I am not even from, or live in, USA (you can see English is not may native language) and I can feel the same emotion you feel when you see him. Internet and you tube videos of his performances have done nothing more than expand his popularity all over the world. It is his career and the paths it has taken that calls my attention the most as a sociologist that studies media and communication. His message of love and respect for diversity have crossed generation, racial and other kinds of barriers. This is so uncommon. This is what real artists do.

Now I understand what the media meant when they called Adam an openly gay singer...
I thought Adam resented the label, wanting to be just...a singer. But that is exactly what it has come to be. No judgment here, just stating a fact.

Is there a correlation between hard economic times and an increase of more visual, uplifting musical productions providing escape throughout history? My mother said in the i940's they sometimes chose to see a 9 cent movie rather than eat dinner because the movie lasted longer and they forgot being hungry.
