Adam Lambert fans, who joined together to raise more than $316,000 to assist 314,000 underprivileged students in 2009, are at it again. With their glam icon fully behind them, Lambert and his fans are on their way helping fulfill arts and music classroom project requests posted by teachers at www.DonorsChoose.org/glam-nation raising about $150,000 in the summer of 2010, for a total contribution of nearing half a million dollars since the fall of 2009.

The newest campaign, Glam A Classroom, started on the Glam Nation tour with Lambert asking fans to contribute to the cause. According to the DonorsChoose.com website, so far 2,472 Lambert fans have been able to raise $148,916, which will assist 124,339 students.

"I can't thank my fans enough for getting involved with the Glam A Classroom campaign to provide much needed resources for public schools," Adam said of his new initiative when the tour began. "I wouldn't be where I am today without the support of amazing music and theater teachers, so I want to help foster the next Ansel Adams or American Idol."

I've said it before on these types of threads, and I'll state the obvious again - SO GREAT. Trying to catch up on some of these threads and I'm loving seeing some brass instruments, my kid plays a brass :)... and as someone who doesn't do the sports so much, it's someplace where this child excels... and the program has faced more cuts than my other child's sports activities I can tell you that for sure... (and my kids are still young, cuts only deepen the older they get), so yes, this is so great, at the risk of stating the obvious :). MGF.

These kids not only received the monetary benefit from Donors Choose, but quality musical mentoring from Adam and the band. As busy is he is, he gives his encouragement and time to a cause that is important to him and will benefit so many. The schools are lacking in every area of education and ranks pretty low world wide in Math, Science, etc.,let alone music and phys. ed. They need to follow Finland's lead and hire and value the best teachers. Glad Adam is drawing attention and giving much needed support to such an important part of childrens development and appreciation of the arts. My grandson also played a brass instrument and competed with his marching band.It was such an important piece of his development, much more than just playing an instrument, building confidence and friendships.Hi, MGF! funbunn40

Hi funbunn40 :). The great (and probably unusual) thing for my child is that the band kids in my community are as cool as, oh I don't know, the football players or star athletes or something (well, my child is still young, but that's the sentiment around here); they are like Rock Stars - it's a great program and they win awards and competitions etc. (my young child has already been a part of a winning group TWICE). It's sooooo refreshing! We have to pay our fair share - band-boosting, fund-raising and school operating budgets can only cover so much...it's tough financially, but worth it. The Arts - aahhh, gotta love it! MGF
