Adam Lambert makes a few leaps across genre charts

From The Examiner:

Although Adam Lambert might have seen "If I Had You" take a small dip in both the American and Canadian versions of the Billboard Hot 100 Thursday, that does not necessarily mean the same thing happened across some of the other charts.

As we do every week, let's look at each one individually:

Digital Songs: 34 (last week: 31)

We might as well start with the bad news -- for the second straight week, Adam saw his digital sales fall slightly, and his position on the chart reflected that. This is going to be a tough chart for Adam to keep momentum going, since many of the people requesting the song may already own the album or have purchased the single previously.

Radio Songs: 48 (last week: 52)

For the first time, Adam has crossed over into the top 50 on this chart! Getting radio airplay is not always an easy thing to do in a competitive market, but despite the song being out for months it is still gaining in spins as of this writing. Much of the credit (as always) has to be given to the fans, as their requests early on helped expose the song to a wide audience.

Pop Songs: 18 (last week: 21)

Here is another major milestone for Adam, as he now is at his highest point ever on this chart with the song. As I've said time and time again, there is potential for this song to leap even further here -- although Adam can do a number of musical styles, "If I Had You" has "pop" written all over it.

Adult Pop Songs: 20 (last week: 24)

In just five weeks on this chart, Adam is already in the top 20. Considering that he also rose four spots here (and is gaining spins on Adult Contemporary radio), we can assume that there will be more good news in the future next week.

Adam fell from 32 to 35 on billboard 100 and "F**k You" by Ceelo Green jumped from 96 to 33 in 1 week. And American radio stations wont play "Fever" bc. of the word "he"? Ya gotta wonder about these things? Just saying . . . Adamluv

ZZ, that never came to pass! Good news here - Lyndsey Parker at yahoo music just listed the videos that got shafted for the 2010 VMAS and IIHY was one of them.! She said they must not like really fun videos! Adamluv

Oh Adamluv - you had to go there... As the VMA's are quickly approaching, I gotta say - I am getting more and more pissed that Adam is not nominated in at least one category... I sorta get why (not gonna hash it all out here, it's a "business" thing, an audience/demographic thing, at the heart of it IMHO, and I don't want to turn this thread negative, because the chart leaps AL did make are great news) but that doesn't mean I gotta be happy about it... so ticked! Good for Lyndsey Parker - you go girl who has good taste, and ears (and eyes)! Her "front porch" interview w/ Adam is still one of my favorites, great content about the MUSIC!

Thanks Adamluv for the heads up about the Jimmy Fallon thing - I did look for it that first week in August... figured it never came to pass but was never really sure. Shit man, BB could use a TV appearance to boost those IIHY downloads/sales couldn't he? Well, in the meantime, I think he's doing great - a lot of good competition on the scene right now (crap too, but many solid tracks also IMHO). Love that Lambert.

Because the music business is so crazy and Adam is confined to his tour schedule and cannot promote his song as well as he did WWFM it is not surprising that he is suffering a little.
I think he probably needs to put out another single ASAP, even if it is just a live taping of "Sleepwalker" or "Aftermath" perhaps.
He needs to do something and I am sure he will.

I thought the purpose of tours was to promote the
songs..?
And I agree that Fever should be released in Canada asap.

When I heard he was overlooked for the VMA's, I went to MTV's website to tell them how disappointed I was. Well, first I had to become a member to even comment. Then, the only places it allowed me to comment, that I could figure out, were in the areas where you voted for the songs that WERE nominated. They certainly make it hard for people to comment/voice an opinion! I couldn't find any kind of "general" contact-us, or mailbox...anybody know how to let MTV hear our voices?

Who knows if there's a big plan behind all this and they only want to play Fever on the radio. After all it is from Gaga..

Maybe Adams fanbase is too old in the US. In those countries that the fanbase is younger the songs get more airplay. The hit music stations are targeted mostly for younger audiences.

FYI you guys: Re: watching IFHY on VH-1 I've been able to get it everytime I tried both last night and this AM. Tried thru "Vote", "Countdown" and "Favorite artists". My broadband service searches Google, Yahoo, bing & Ask at one time gets the best of all. Last VH-1 was on bing. Also this morning on VH-1's show (either Ochocino or T.O. I don't know which) They were playing Adams WYWFM in the background. And on the radio stations in my little city, they have been playing IIHY since before Adam was here on
Sept. 1. Especially Kiss FM. I got so excited when I heard it while driving that I almost had a wreck. Anyway...all this recent play is good, good, good, for Adam. Hope they keep it up! And I wanted everybody to know.

I know this doesn't mean anything in some parts of the country but IIHY is #8 of the top 10 songs on our local Seattle KISS station...and the top #9 video....according to their website...and # 9 on the playlist...so I am very encouraged to say that...makes my day just a little happier...and I do hear it played a lot....and I don't listen to the radio all that much...but when I do turn it on, almost always hear it now...YAY!!!! And to the poster above...I have the same reaction when I hear Adam on the radio...gotta keep those seat belts tight!!!!

Oh well, I know I'm late to comment here but, voilá... none of you will talk about this gorgeous photo???? Yay!!! That's is my sweet baby exotic singing bird turned my WILD animal, a sweet, gorgeous and powerful LION (once he is on a throne) roaring out his so much successful Glam Nation Tour!
Am I (and my great commenter Glitzylady fellow) the only ones to get it? I can't believe it!

I LOVE THIS PHOTO TOO Fan4fun... and I meant to comment on that fact - but I get so longwinded sometimes, I try to edit myself (unsuccessfully most times :)!!). Yes yes, I've always loved this photo - and holy hot hell I love that FYE video!

@glitzylady/11:30AM - I don't care if your news is regional - I LOVE hearing about that stuff, great news btw. IIHY is doing very well here too on the local Kiss station and on 92profm which is the station that hosted that pool party before the Providence/Lupos show where the famous pre-concert M&G happened with Eric and Erica... and one other station that I didn't expect to get on the bandwagon so much is also playing it a lot too!! Sure would love to see IIHY climb a little more before it slides for good! I continue to do my respectful requesting routine daily.

Hey, GlitzyL!
I didn't know you were a West-Coaster, too! Where I am, they don't really mention Adam, much less play him. Small Oregon town, ya know. I take great delight in wearing my Adam stuff (shirts) around town and watching people whisper and stare!! "He's Gay (italics) you know!" My response is usually "and talented, and kind spirited and beautiful...what's your excuse?" Sooo fun!!! Love that pic, too byw.
