Adam Lambert sold out as fast as the ticketing system would allow

The Capitol Center for the Arts expands on a year that already has featured a half dozen sold-out shows, including “American Idol” alum and recording artist Adam Lambert, who broke the Concord venue’s box-office records for fastest-selling act.

Grammy-nominated rock band Wilco, and the biggest draw, Lambert, whose fans answered his rhetorical question in his pop hit, “Whataya Want From Me” by overwhelming online ticket services earlier this year.

“Adam Lambert sold out as fast as the ticketing system would allow,” said Ric Waldman, the center’s director of programming and audience development. “Because people were slamming the website, everything slowed down, so it took about 90 minutes to catch up and sell out. We probably would have sold out in minutes if we had (more expansive Web services). We are in the process of updating the system to better handle these huge-demand sales when literally thousands of people are trying to buy tickets at one time.

“We could have probably sold three more shows for Adam Lambert if we had been able to (book) them,” Waldman said of the flamboyant showman, who also sold out a 2010 Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom show in three minutes.

I am so glad that I am here to witness and enjoy Adam's success. Yes, we have known how special and super talented he is from the time we saw him on AI. He will be around for a long time being enjoyed by several generations. WTG Adam!!!

So Adam is instrumental in revolutionizing the ticketing system as well...just another example of the power of Adam and his very passionate and loyal fans, and even his casual fans who remember him from Idol...and we all have personal knowledge of the frustration of not being able to get through to get those quickly sold-out tickets....It would be fabulous to have several performances in the same city starring Adam in the small venues that he is in now...instead of the mega-venues that are probably in his future....Guess we'll see what happens...Rolling Stone magazine needs to pay attention to what Ric Waldman is saying about Adam needing multiple performances to accomodate all of the fans that want to see him....instead of just bemoaning the tours that are canceling gigs or going to smaller venues....because of lack of ticket sales...His time is rapidly approaching, and we won't just be "preaching to the choir" anymore...Go Adam!!!!

Topic 1 - Simon Cowell doesn't lightly say someone is going to be a world wide star if he doesn't believe it.
Topic 2 - We, his fans, knew from our first sight that he would be iconic (Paula's term).
Topic 3 - He's gained back the weight he lost at beginning of tour. Those pants are fitting just fine.
Topic 4 - Anyone, everyone notice how at ease he is on the stage these days. Yes, he was born to perform, but he makes it look so smooth.

The Dark Side -

Topics 1 an 2 - Agree and agree.

Topic 3 - You've weighed him, I suppose?

Topic 4 - Please tell me (us) when Adam wasn't at ease on the stage. Did you not see American Idol?

What a good news for my morning, sistah! I'm sooo happy for you (and so sorry for me not to be able to go to UK and try my chance this time).
How about GIOWUK? Did she get any tickets? Where, London? So good if you both could meet!

I know Adam is going overseas and is probably exhausted by this summer's schedule..but if he could keep going, there are no doubt more venues that now realize, they missed an opportunity to book Glam Nation this summer!

I for one, hope he always does small venues. Seeing him up close is a thrill. Being able to go to more than one show is a trip. Adam is too much fun and the electricity/intensity he generates in the smaller venues is powerful!

to the fla girl that going to 3 shows in a row. I live here in fla and I know the exact ones your going to and I wanted to do the exact same thing, but couldn't get anyone to go with me. I settled on 1 hardrock cafe hollywood fla show Great venue and I'm dragging my husband who does not feel like I do. I'm so hoping he becomes a huge fan like me. We'll see!

To all going to hardRock Concert, I'll have my Spread the Lambert Love 24/7 sign. If you see me, come up and say hi! Would love to see any of you on this site! I'll be in sect. 203. My oldest daughter is going with me to this one. Her sister went with me in Raleigh and my son went with me in Charlotte. Two step-sons left to turn on to Adam! Israeli fan, 3 concerts in a row! You really hit the jackpot! Hope you can take the super adrenalin rush that awaits you! I met an Asian M.D. in Raleigh that said her Israeli friend was going to see Adam in Fl. I wondered if that was you. She asked me if I was going to New Orleans concert. She said something about fans meeting across the street from Hard Rock, but I don't have any other info. funbunn40
