Adam speaks out for men with makeup

When Adam Lambert uses Twitter to share his opinions on a given topic, thousands of fans tend to listen. This time around, the "American Idol" singer is touching on a topic sure to empower men around the world -- whether or not it is okay for them to wear makeup:

"I read a comment recently: 'eww men aren't supposed to wear makeup!' is there some rulebook somewhere I didn't get a copy of? Ha! I say do whatever the [expletive] makes u happy and expresses who you are! I make my own rules."

Although there may be some people who disagree with Adam's stance on aesthetics, he has opened the door for men of all backgrounds and sexualities to be free to express themselves in ways never before thought possible. In a way, he has also enabled more performers of his style to enter the public consciousness.

Do you agree with Adam's stance on expression, and would you as a male walk down the street rocking full eyelienr and glitter?

Eyeliner isn't really my thing but men should be able to do just that without being labled 'feminine' or 'weird', so I totally agree with Adam on that one. Masculine and feminine are not really in vocabulary...

I don't know what he means by that. Even straight guys wear makeup these days and guys in hard rock bands have used eyeliner for ages.

Adam wants to start a revolution, you know a personal solution...for uptight people who will only color within the lines...be open and let people express themselves. I love the idea of guyliner/eyeshadow and yummy lip gloss. Adam, Tommy and Monte are gorgeous. Sometimes change is difficult, but let's become a society that embraces people for who they are. Love IS the answer.

wear/look/love/do what makes you feel empowered, beautiful, confident, GOOD!

don't hurt others, take care of your family and pay your bills - otherwise, fu*k the rules

Women are used to being told " women cant, women dont or women shouldnt". Always someone trying to put you in a box.! An yes, rockers have been using makeup for decades. And every man who appears in a movie/tv/video/wears makeup. Just saw on TV photos of Jagger and Rod S. from the 70's looking mighty fine with their eye makeup! Adam just does it better and looks hotter than anyone else! Adamluv

I think guys should wear makeup, especially eyeliner because let's face it, it makes your eyes more attractive whether you are male or female. I always wanted my boyfriends to wear eyeliner when I was younger. A lot of the male moviestars wear eye makeup so they photograph better. It's been going on for years.

I THINK I DRAW THE LINE ABOUT THE GLITTER AND A LOT OF EYELINER. BUT FOR AN ENTAINER ITS PERFECT. SOME GUYS HAVE BAD SKIN AND WANT TO USE MAKE UP. AND SO THEY SHOULD FEEL COMFORTABLE DOING IT.

I have known some really good looking men who could have used some emphasis on the eyes to look even better. I have seen a few men with some makeup on and they really looked good - and that's what I thought about it - they looked good!! They Egyptians wore eye liner everyday, I think it looks Great.

So sorry to post off-topic again peeps - but just wanna say to be on the lookout for vids from tonight's concert - I followed twitter and MJ's - and there was some crazy ass sh*t, in the BEST possible ways... can't even list the treats were in for, there's too many apparently... some stuff in lieu of LP's last night.

Read that "Cos2mwiz" got vids from a good position/vantage point, and her work, as many of you probably know :), is GREAT!

Where is it written that only women should wear makeup? It probably started ages ago when women wanted to look better for men. Why can't men want to look good and fashionable, too?

And Adam, he is just this hugable sweet Bear, so genuine and so Loving person.
Thanks MGF for the cries :( My eyes are gonna fall of their socket :(

The only problem is: A whole lot of men might start looking a whole lot better than women. Which on second thought might be all right. Men have been dying their hair for years. So why not a little pancake, a little liner. It may never go completely mainstream, but at a time in history, men wore a great deal of makeup--before the Revolution in other countries. This would be a boon for the cosmetic industry. BB should get in on the ground floor.

There's only one rule I follow---"Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you", and so far it has covered everything I need to live a loving life. Thank you for all the love and beauty you bring to my life,Adam.

I remember when men wearing hairspray was a major issue and considered unmasculine! Men in the 1700s wore powdered wigs, fake beauty marks, etc. Male birds have always had more colorful feathers. Men, strut your stuff! What's good for the goose is good for the gander!have to agree with Adam. Not full out stage makeup, but some eyeliner and lip gloss, why not? Don't know if I'm ready for men wearing bright red lipstick,[not every woman can pull it off] but any new thing just takes some time to get used to it. I prefer a clean- shaven man, never cared for the stubble unkept look, but all is just personal preference of the wearer. As said above, the early rockers and "hair bands" wore makeup as well as actors. Adam could have a makeup line for men or unisex. Speaking of unisex, men used to only go to barbershops and wouldn' be caught dead getting a facial! funbunn40

When I first met my husband, he wore eyeliner, and he looked F'N HOT! Granted, he was 18 y.o., and who doesn't look hot at that age? :P I totally think it depends on the guy. Some punk rockers also wore eye liner and they were bad-ass Mother F'ers! Some guys can pull it off, and some guys look like they're trying too hard. If it works, the guy's confident enough and has some swagger - do it!! I think it's so sexxxy!

yes, adam once again you are RIGHT! there is nothing wrong with men wearing make-up in good taste as well as women wearing make-up(in good taste) over the top not so good, both species. but to just enhance what you have go for it!

Anonymous said...

Adam Fix, your 'descriptive' words on punk rockers had me laughing. Now dont hold back! LOL. Adamluv

Anonymous said...

Look, when ADAM can wear makeup putting shame to lots of womens makeup applications, that says something! They even beg for his makeup advice!
Adam is so cool and yes, makeup for men is more than acceptable. When Adam applies makeup for the stage he looks unreal!

Anonymous said...

Ditto. Thats what I love about Mr Lambert, the fact that he tells it as it is. In your face, so get a life.

Anonymous said...

Men have worn makeup on the stage for years, so what's the big deal now? It's the US again!

Anonymous said...

Man have worn makeup since Egyptian times! More closer to our Century Rudolf Valentino era. Elvis wore makeup look at his pictures he wears smudged blue eyeliner and mascara Today you see a LOT of men/rockstars with makeup, nothing new..
Just that Adam wears it so beautifully <3

Also had to come back and add - I have red hair (like Adam natually does) - which means my eyelashes/eyebrows are very light, and without makeup, my eyes have absolutely no definition. I just can't leave the house without some mascara and giving my eyebrows a little attention...and there are many guys with my coloring who would look great with some eye definition as well!
