The Kobalt Music Group has signed Adam Lambert to a worldwide administration deal, a rep for the company told Billboard today.

The "American Idol" runner-up co-wrote a number of songs on his most recent album, including "Pick You Up" and "Broken Open" (both co-written with Kobalt writer/producer Greg Wells), and "Aftermath," which was produced by Howard Benson. He also had a hand in songs that have been released in various international formats.

Kobalt represents some of the biggest hitmakers on the planet, including Dr Luke, Max Martin, Ryan Tedder.

Check this video out - Adam Lambert WWFM in Greece X-Factor used in background of a group rap performance. Very interesting!

If I understand this correctly, (which I may not), By signing with this company all Adams songs he writes will be protected with copy rights. He is also protected , that he will get any royalties due him. This company sounds like an insurance company to protect Adam from being cheated out of monies coming to him. Well I think Adam has been doing a lot of homework, on his "so called vacation". I suspected that he wasn't wasting his time, this is all for protecting himself with his becoming a super star. Apparently we are not the only ones who thinks he is great, and is facing a terrific future.

Well duh! Can't think of another artist who makes the news every time his hair changes. I know Bieber also has the hair thing going, but I believe public more interested in the teen's love life than his hair. Know squat about the music biz, so would imagine this a good thing since Adam said he wanted to write more songs himself. We are waiting Adam, get to writing soon please.

Adam is being very smart and covering all the bases. I think he gets a lot more advice from RCA and other sources "in the know" than we give credit for in making sure that he is setting himself up for a fabulous and huge career. He is relatively new to the "big time" but has been around the fringes long enough to know what needs to be done.

Adam lives only a few feet away from the music industry for a long time and he knows how to protect his asset. Smart boy.

I don't know for sure what this means but it sounds big.
Also want to throw in that i think 'Pick You Up' deserved more attention than it got

I love Pick U Up...my favorite off the album. Don't know why it was totally ignored. It actually has lots of fans. Maybe because it's a throw back sound and not current enough. But then so is the fabulous Jason Mraz

I don't believe in concidince; synchronicity is the word for me. How's this: Adam loves cobalt blue streaks in his hair and when he wears blue, it's usually cobalt. Now he signs with Kobalt.

He is so astute. I think he will not just be a big megar singing star but a very clever business man. I don't think we will ever hear of him losing money because of bad managers. Hope he listened to what Oprah said and that was "always sign your own checks".
This is the first step for this wonderful man and I wish him all the best, and hope that he keeps his feet on the floor, and not let people hang onto his coat tails. I am sure he knows who he can trust.

I too think Pick U Up is the best song on the album and was dissappointed it wasn't part of the GNT.

I love loaded smile and pick u up. FYI is honestly the only cd I can ever remember buying and love every song. So rare these days, I usually just like 3 songs or so. Sorry, got off topic. I thinks this is exactly what adam should do, protect himself, remember what happened with the take one album.

Glad Adsam is protecting himself. Hope he has a reputable financial advisor and tax attorney. So many horror stories of entertainers being scammed by record companies and promoters, skimming profits and inserting self serving clauses in their contracts. Think Neil would be a good watchdog for him! Not implying Sony and RCA aren't trustworthy, but he needs to read every contract word and know where every penny is going. Tough to do when your primary focus is entertaining and as Eber said, "Math wasn't his strongest subject."[probably due to lack of interest}Adam's smart, but don't think money is is primary focus. Think he'd prefer someone else to deal with those matters. funbunn40
