just voted. I read all the comments and it looks like alot of people voted for Chris Colfer, Adam Lambert and Ricky Martin. There were many people I never heard of.I have lost alot of interest in polls but this one was easy and you can vote just once. thank God!

I think it would be better to just vote for my favorite singer or celebrity,not the best "GAY" one.I don't like this as a forced title,& doubt if Adam would either.He's said,more than once ,that he just wants to be be introduced as a vocalist,not an openly gay one..so that's why I'm not voting,& agree with the first post.

LIVA: There are a lot of gay celebrities in Hollywood...there are just not that many OUT gay celebrities. You'd be surprised!!!

I think Adam is out and very proud. I know in the beginning he wanted it to only be about the music, but he didn't really convey that on stage, so I think he had a change of heart. I voted because it shouldn't be a negative, being out is very powerful and I am so grateful to Adam for being so honest about his journey in interviews. He has made a lot of younger people feel more positive about themselves. I know this from personal experience. His quote "Love has no Orientation is VERY powerful. Thanks for the info, Adamluv.

The reason it specifies GAY celebrity is because AfterElton is a GAY site. They are always running those kinds of polls ... ADAM is GAY so why NOT vote for him. He's MY favorite so I VOTED for him. Nothing wrong with that .. I want him to be recognized on that site too. He DESERVES it ... they have ignored him too long!! VOTE & make him #1 FAVORITE!!

I agree with Anons 7:50 and 8:46 but I also agree with tess4ADAM. Hmm..I'm experiencing contradicting emotions. Normally I wouldn't vote in this kind of poll, but since it IS a gay site, I see nothing wrong with it. I doubt too many heteros hang around AfterElton, and therefore this poll shouldn't really be offensive in any way. If the same poll was done by Entertainment Weekly Magazine, then I wouldn't vote. There's a time and place for everything.

i voted for adam just like always.i couldn't control myself heehee! But in my head i think i agree with anon 8:46 and adam must intro as a vocalist but that was a gay site and i think nothin' wrong with vote for adam. (AGirlLikeMe)

There is a large gay population in Hollywood--but they are in the closet. I always thought that actors/musicians who said they were bi was a euphemism for gay. In the 60's and 70's a lot of musicians said they were bi. I think this gave them street cred. Still question this when artists come out in this manner. My opinion only, no facts to back this up.

I go daily to afterelton because it is a very informative site and I learn things I didnt know before. I've been on other gay sites but havent found them as constructive therefore dont go there anymore. As a straight female I want to learn as much as I can about the issues facing Adam and gay men in general.

I have many thoughts on this, but will only say that I have a family member still in the closet. I believe Adam wanted it to be about his music, but his being "out and proud" has helped many young people. Times are changing for gays, only not fast enough.
Elton John had a big article is US mag, and his earlier life didn't sound all that great, until he found his love of 17 years and now have a baby son.
I voted because I think Adam can reach people with his love and positive attitude.

Adam is amazing superb perfect. Most important fact that he is honest. And he has many problems because his open mind. But I never will vote for Adam as a gay celebrity. He is jewel, let me guess, the biggest black diamond in our planet (and one of the most expensive and perfect diamonds ever been found). But when we talk about perfection we didn't care about prize, shape, or even size! This is perfection which cannot be estimate

Why are people being so precious about this? Are there people in the closet about Adam being gay? At his GNT concerts, he reminded us that he is gay by his fabulous, flamboyant moves and costumes. He may want to be known as a singer only but while he continues to flaunt himself on stage, the openly gay tag will linger on. I'm not complaining! I'm a HUGE fan of Adam, love his music, his concerts, his looks, his personality, his sexy moves, his charmisma, his style .... EVERYTHING about him. He is gay and we should support him everywhere, not merely where it suits us. I vote for Adam wherever and whenever possible. As Adam would say .... 'it aint that deep'.

I want to vote for the one and only Adam but I'm not aware of that number of gay/bi celebrities.

I did vote for Adam on this poll, mainly because I support Adam on many polls and since it is a gay site, didn't think of it in any negative way, but KW has a very valid point. There is needless separation that doesn't promote equality. I don't like it when media refers to Adam as an openly gay performer, instead of grammy nominee, talented performer, etc. Other performers aren't labeled as openly heterosexual performers and it's all ridiculous labels.
