I'm sorry but ADAM LAMBERT KILLED AMERICAN IDOL! There was no comparison of Adam's version and Paul's. No contestant should try to sing something that Adam has already done. You can't help but compare the two. Sorry but you will always lose because NO ONE FOLLOWS THE KILLER!

I have said this so many times, but here it goes again. Adam Lambert set the bar so high on Season 8 of AI that everything since then just cannot compare. Season 9 was boring and lackluster overall. Season 10 has some good talent, but at times the performers seem too overproduced trying much too hard. (And I wish JLO would stop interrupting Randy and that Steven would learn another word besides "that was BEAUTIFUL)when judging the contestants. At one point with the camera on him, I thought he had nodded off or zoned out. Would I go out and buy a CD from someone in the top 10. I don't really think so. Scotty should go right to Nashville; he will find his success there. Some of the others may have minor recording careers, but no one will reach what Adam has achieved so early in his career. I loved Motown and enjoyed listening to some of the songs last night, but whenever the new week comes and the theme is selected, I constantly compare the performance's to Adam's. I know that is wrong, but this girl just can't help it. He has spoiled me for most of the music that is out there now. He is just such a dynamic performer both musically and visually and I think he is one of the most talented vocalists in the music industry today.

WOW !!! I have said it many times - American Idol needs to make a DVD of all of Adam's performances. He is in a league all his own - a true legend !!!

Would love a DVD of all of Adam's IDOL performances! I have a CD, but neeeed a DVD!
I too compare to Adam each week.

Missed the show, so will read some of the recaps. No one can do justice to the song like Adam did, but thought Paul sounded good.

I also can't help but compare when another sings a song that Adam covered on Idol. He brought such excitement and vocal expertise every week. I wish there would be a DVD of every Adam Idol appearance, judges comments and all. They were the best! I'm anxious to hear Adam's original new music, but wish he would also do a cover album of some of the great songs that he did on Idol. Michael Orland helped him with some incredible arrangements, reigning him in a little, making him more effective and not too theatrical for prime time. It was perfect and not overdone, making the tender moments so beautiful in contrast to the powerful ones. Just no one like Adam. funbunn40

I'm not a fan of Adams acoustic performances and I'm not a fan of this.

Can I ask you something? Are the fans who like this performance, with such large amount of suave, the same people who want Adam to quit using makeup and get rid of all the glam rock stuff?

Paul sounded good, but for me, didn't connect with the song like Adam did. Adam's rendition of "Tracks of My Tears" was the best I've ever heard and I don't think anyone will ever do any of the songs he did on Idol better. You can't improve on perfection.

TO ANON 3:26...IF ADAM WANTS TO STOP THE MAKEUP...STOP THE GLAM...IF ADAM WANTS TO STAND NAKED ON THAT STAGE..IT'S ALWAYS WHAT ADAM WANTS.

Adam completely got the emotion of the song.Look at the intensity on his face when Smoky tells hime what was on his mind when he wrote the song after Adam asked him. He wants to know so he can give it his best interpertation.
So..... this season, yes some great voices but it is not just about the Voice, we all know that here because we all were struck in the heart by the Lighting Bolt that Adam threw at us.All these singers this year sing about their own emotions,when Adam sings he connects everybody's emotion, we no longer feel as alone. That is his Magic.

I can only speak for myself, I loved the song it was a plea for love....yesssssss
I don't want him to give up his make up, just the heavy kind that ages him.
I definitely don't want him to give up singing rock, I'd love a whole album.
The glam part I could take or leave, I don't see it making a great revival and Adam said he had it out of his system. Lets go forward, not backward...........I'm sensing great things. :)

Adam dresses and sings to the song. As he said before, each song has a story. So Adam will be suave, glam, pop, rock & roll etc, etc. He mixes it up, he is not boxed in, that is what we love about him. He is never boring!
