Sorry to be coy about the details the past few weeks, but I made a promise to keep it under wraps as best I could. Gonna be a surreal night!

Adam Lambert@adamlambert
As many suspected, I can finally confirm: I have been invited by Queen to sing one very special concert! Sonisphere at Knebworth July 7th!

Please my fellow glamberts get all the videos you can, I know you will, they are usually up before adam leaves the building lol. We are like no other in that respect! Don't mean to seem stupid, but, where is sonisphere? Doesn't sound like I can get there from the states?

Been on Google and answered my own Question. Sonisphere is a huge Music Festival held in Knebworth for the last 4 year. Knebworth,England.

On another blog a fan said it's 1 hour by train from London. If the poster I saw is correct, this concert is full of heavy metal groups - Korn and Metallica being 2 of them. At least Adam can see the guy, forgot his name, that played keyboard after Lisa left (he's in Korn). And bet Tommy is beside himself since he loves Metallica! Marilyn Manson also to be there.(UGH!). Maybe all this is incorrect? ... Adamluv

Adamluv said...

OOPS - So excited about this news that forgot Tommy probably wont be there since Adam will be singing with Queen! .... Adamluv

Suspect this may be the first of several concerts with Queen---maybe Queen Elizabeth's birthday concert and the opening of the Olympics in London.

Anonymous said...

Wonderful news for Adam! What great exposure for Adam in the UK, well and actually, world-wide with YouTube and all. The reaction after the EMA's created such a buzz I can only imagine an entire set of Adam's fabulous voice backed by Queen!!!

Adamluv said...

YES It's me again!!!! Saw another poster and neither Korn nor Metallica were on it so I'm totally confused? What's new about that? LOL. As Gilda Ratner would say on SNL - "Nevermind". ... Adamluv

This is amazing! Adam is the only person who could pull this off brilliantly. I know Freddie would be proud and how Adam must feel!!! Now U.S. DJ's do you not see Adam's talent, so start playing him more on the radio!!! He is an international superstar and I guess it will all come in time.

My country for a ticket to London. The country isn't mine to give; so much for that thought. This will be a real old fashioned stadium show that should be one for the ages. The number of years that any of the remaining Queen members will take the stage is limited, as is Adam being their front man. I am in alt!

Well, this news should keep us all on a big high until Trespassing comes out! Lots to flail about! One more chance for a HUGE audience to see Adam at his best! Hope this prompts some new, potential fans to BUY Trespassing in Mapril! So excited! Let's celebrate by viewing a little more, requesting a little more, buying a little more.

What I love about this is we get the best of both worlds and so does Adam. He will promote his own music and also appear with one of his fav bands whose lead singer influenced and inspired him. This is great for Adam because more people will be able to hear and appreciate Adam's vocals, showmanship and rocking attitude. So happy to hear this news. Adam is a smart entertainer with the intellect to make great career decisions. Thank you Brian and Roger.

@funbunn40 - Hey, I know, enough jumping for one day…LOL! I better start training, June will be here soon…

GGD Gal, out of breath... :)

Adam performed live in front of 30 million T.V. audience in 2009. To perform live in front of 120,000 should be a piece of cake for him. Didn't he have an attendance of 75,000 in Canada for one of his GNT concerts? He will blow the sky above with his performances and make Freddie proud.

BTW,Adam's fan club site sells tickets to this event to members right now:

Adam focused on the "price" before he signed the contract to sing with Queen.

I think you mean focus on the "prize."

BBC gave its seals of approval and said if Brian May says Adam can make Freddie proud then no one should question anything. One guy said Adam is the only one who can sing Queen's songs. No uffn doubt about it. I can't wait. I'm in contact with my friends in UK once they get back with me I'll buy my tickets and only reserve my airline ticket. My passport is current cause I travel abroad a lot. Whoah!

JAK here...>-->O So Happy !

Just now seeing the announcement! For one brief moment sanity left me.
We've been shopping for a new car and the thought flitted thru my brain...I'd rather go to England and see this concert!!!! Fortunately the words didn't pass my lips or I would be on my way to be committed to some quiet refuge for those who suffer from Adamania!

I'm assuming we will see video of the occasion and some of you will recognize Knebworth House, it's fabulous and has been shown in several British movies and TV shows!

Adam darling boy, I'm so grateful to Roger and Brian that they recognize quality when they hear it! Long Live Queen! ( I'm slightly giddy! )

So proud of Adam and so in love with Brian May and Roger Taylor, superb musicians, and now they have the best male voice on the planet to rock with them. If I can get away, I will get me to Kneb. Saturday night will be a show for the ages.

Friggin love it . . . KISS will be there also . . . remember the lead singer Simmons making some remark about Adam saying he shouldn't have "come out" . .guess what he's out and singing at the same event as you Simmons . . . . I'm over the "rainbow" here!!!!!

Brian May and Roger Taylor are the greatest Glamberts of them all. Not only do they appreciate our BB, but they are actually able to do something about it.

Just read on AdamOfficial that the Queen Facebook site is getting a lot of hate comments. (We've heard THAT before, after the EMAs.) Anyway, if you're on Facebook, please go there and give some support for Adam and for Brian and Roger's decision to ask him to perform with them. We need positive comments about ADAM! Please help!

@ DRG,

Even on twitter fandom there are a lot of hate comments indeed.

But not to worry Adam is going to be successful no matter what they say about him.

When Adam accepted the offer he knew this will come try to ruin his spirit.

The Worldberts will always behind his back!!!!

They are just jealous of his success right now.

there are 7 sonicsphere festivals in europe with different venues . . adam will be at Knebworth . .

I can picture Freddie Mercury beaming ear to ear, showing off his bugsy teeth, looking down and maybe even dishing out free tickets for front-row heaven sky-seats. Free, because they don't use money there; which makes me wonder why Chinese burn paper- money to their beloved dead!
Congratulations!! Adam! Yea you aimed with your beautiful blue eyes, sometimes yellow, really good this time!! Looks like Adam is fighting his battle from outside in, rather than the usual other way round. Yea everyone listens to Brian and Roger! I can already hear him wailing from Sonisphere into the stratosphere! And lots of applause filling the troposphere! LOL! :)

This is going to be so helpful for his career. Queen had their choice of singers, and they picked Adam because he is fantastic.

Anonymous said...

An interesting background story why Knebworth has been chosen by Queen; it was there that Queen had their final concert, with Freddie Mercury in 1986; and it would be an emotional comeback for Brian and Roger. Adam is definitely going to bring it on and it may be a kind of beautiful closure for Brian and Roger. :)

@DRG 6:47PM Just opened my Facebook. I thinks there are 70-75%people who are very happy to know about this collaboration "Queen+Adam Lambert"
Yes, there are 25-30% idiots who just don't want to agree with any fresh and new ideas. After EMA the comments were terrible and discussing. Also,on my Twitter account there is guy who doesn't like Adam. But he absolutly loves the idea about this special performance. So, I expected to find much worst commentson Facebook and Twitter. Some of the guys don't like Freddie neither. They are homophibics.

exciting news, am definitely thinking of going, even if its just for the saturday. We usually go back to the UK at some point in the summer, so can do it these dates, and Knebworth is driveable from where we usually stay, and my husband like rock so hopefully he will be more on board.

I'm not on Facebook myself, but thanks for checking and updating us. I know they'll be plenty of haters, but the supporters will outnumber them. The haters just don't have to listen to the concert. Don't know why the haters are so close-minded and don't respect the wishes and judgement of Brian and Roger. If they're really Queen fans, they would think as Brian and Roger do. They'd give Adam a chance. Oh well. I don't care what the haters think. The supporters are much stronger! Glad to know that there is strong support on Facebook. Twitter could use some support, too, I guess.

I keep reminding myself: Being an Adam Lambert fan is not for the timid or the faint of heart.

In an interview about Queen and Sonisphere, Adam spoke about appearing with Brian and Roger and the rest of the band. Who is the rest of the band? I thought there was just Brian and Roger.

Anonymous said...

Adam was invited to perform at this very special concert with Queen. They want him there. He has always said that he could not and would not ever replace Freddie Mercury. Adam did such a brilliant performance at the EMA show in Ireland and I am certain that this appearance will be just as great or better. Roger and Brian know a very talented singer with terrific stage presence when they hear one in Adam Lambert. All those hate comments are absolutely ridiculous from individuals who have no legitimate reason to feel that way. If Brian and Roger have invited Adam to sing at this special concert(he didn't force himself upon them), then that should be good enough for everyone. If you don't like it, you don't have to go to it, to listen to the performance or to be involved with the concert/music in any way. I am certain that Adam Lambert will once again prove what a truly fantastic vocal talent he is on July 7th.

@8:21PM could you write your comment here at Queen's facebook page?

Another bit of interesting Sonisphere news...Queen's Roger Taylor's touching words: "I remember Knebworth as being the most incredible gig, with the most amazing audience (120,000) and the sound on stage was utterly perfect. It was a fitting last stand before a live audience for Freddie. It will be a real challenge to complete the circle by returning with Adam."
At this special final performance, Freddie/Queen arrived in a helicopter. Whoa! I wonder if this time round, Queen+Adam will descend magnificently onto Knebworth in a personalised helicopter! Whew! Adam says this event is going to be surreal! Adam, sooo happy for you! :)

I have tears of joy knowing our rock god will be singing with Queen-and the whole world can hear his magnificent voice. Thank you. Brian and Roger, for recognizing this incredible talent! Adam, you deserve all the opportunities coming your way.Oh, happy day! My firstborn was born in July and she always used to call it "the happiest month." Now there are 2 reasons this is so.......

WOOT!! I ADORE Adam and this is such FABULOUS news!! I hope Adam leaves his vibrato at home this time because it seemed to be what the diehard Queen fans complained about loudly and clearly re his EMA performance.

I so wish I could be there but unless you're in the 1st few rows, we probably get a better view on TV but unfortunately, the concert atmosphere is just not the same via satellite.

Anonymous said...

Congratulations Adam! It's sad that there are Queen fans who are dissing Adam but perhaps they feel threatened at the thought that Adam might be the new lead singer of Queen even though Adam has said this is not the case. If Brian and Roger had wanted another Freddie, I feel they would've signed Marc Martel who both looks and sounds like Freddie but obviously, they wanted a singer who is not like Freddie but will do enormous justice to the songs Freddie wrote and sang. In any event, it will be an EPIC event and one that I can hardly wait to ENJOY!! :-) Looking forward to reading all the reviews from those who are lucky enough to be attending and of course, revelling in all the footage!! :-)

Anonymous said...

Leave his vibrato at home? There are going to be Queen fans that are going to complain no matter what Adam (or anybody else)does on stage with Queen . . Adam did a great job at the EMA's and all I wanted was MORE. Stop trying to change BB's voice . . my goodness he has the best vocals around . . you can't please everybody . .ROCK ON ADAM . .

Anonymous said...

8:16 - the rest of the band is Roger Deacon, the bass player. If he is appearing that is AMAZING news. He hasn't appeared with Queen at all and the old Queen fans on Queenonline go on and on about Brian and Roger selling out etc. but Roger never does. If Roger appears that's major. They will acknowledge that on some level, the most "ciritical" member of the band approves of Adam.

Very Cool!

I bought a Rock Royalty site (includes hotel for 3 nights, a pass and a shuttle bus. It addressed all of our logistical concerns so we went for it.

A bit scared of the venue but all I care about is, we'll be there. And I imagine they have jumbotrons.

Anonymous said...

His name is John Deacon!

I am a diehard Queen fan and whatever Adam brought with him at the EMa's please bring it to the Sonisphere on July 7th. That was a spectacular performance. Adam is trending #1 on Yahoo homepage about this concert with Queen.

I actually was considering going from here (US) until I saw the airline tickets ($1,300++) Guess not. The tickets for the sat event are only $90.00, but gettting there is a whole other story. Hope it's on you-tube!

Anon @ 7:29 . . . . . thank you . .a person with some common sense.
Adam is not trying to be Freddie . . . he is honoring him . . .
