Digital Spy did an article on who can replace Kurt Cobain in Nirvana and they featured Adam Lambert as one of the possible artists.

They said this about Adam Lambert - "If he can step into Freddie Mercury's shoes, surely he can manage Kurt Cobain's?"

Great little mention

I don't really see Adam filling in for Kurt Cobain (a fellow WA state native...) but I suspect he could do it....Certainly a nice mention...

I liked Adam performing with Queen. Nirvana no way!!! He could do it though, I would stand behind him if he did so, nice to hear anyway.

Adam can do anything, but Kurt Cobain's life - so tragic..nandruuu2

I wish people would stop trying to get Adam to "replace" some dead performer in their group/band. Adam did very well working with Queen for those concerts in Europe and England, but that was temporary, not a permanent replacement. He is his own person, doing the kind of music he writes in many instances and enjoys performing. Adam is not a replacement for anyone. He stands alone as a very talented performer with an amazing stage presence.

@11:21 am

Words of wisdom! He definitely is an amazing artist on his own...I don´t see him in a band Nirvana...but I would LOVE to hear him sing his NIRVANA:)

Adam certainly has the ability to sing rock in any form, but putting his spin on it and could easily transform himself to create Cobain in a movie, if that was a possibility, but Adam as himself will always be more fulfilling vocally and visually. I'm not sure what is meant, a cover of the song or movie? I'll have to check out Digital Spy.

Pretty sure that Digital Spy was simply complimenting Adam on his amazing voice and talent and not actually suggesting that he replace Kurt Cobain or sing in a revival band, or his life story,, etc.. It was a general compliment for Adam. Nothing more.....I think it was great that he got the mention...

The actual article: Digital Spy is just musing about the question:

"Who could replace Kurt Cobain in Nirvana?"
Published Friday, Mar 22 2013, 12:09pm EDT | By Mayer Nissim |13 comments

Dave Grohl surprised a few people earlier this month when he revealed that the surviving members of Nirvana nearly enlisted PJ Harvey to front the band at a recent gig.

The news got us thinking... now that Dave and Krist Novoselic have recorded together and even enlisted a Beatle to front the band, could Nirvana actually reform with a new frontperson?

And if so, who could possibly step into the shoes of the late Kurt Cobain and make the band a viable prospect? We round up the likely (and less likely) candidates in our gallery below.

nice mention but you know it isn't going to happen, just a fun article.

Nice mention and shows Adam's talents are gradually becoming more well known here in the US too.

Adam can sing any genre that's for sure.

Adam can sing anything that he wants. I just don't see him rocking that grundy green sweater. Although I think he would do a better job than Paul McCartney.

I posted early in the thread... been thinking about this... it really is an awesome little nod to Adam's talents, truly awesome the more I think about it.

Why would he want to?

That is a sarcastic hypothetical question for those of you who need an explanation.

Adam is a way better singer than Kurt ever was! No comparison, and I don't see him ever singin with Nirvana.

I getcha Uree ... and you're correct IMHO!!

Anonymous said...

@Urethra_Franklin: you are right, the person who wrote the article just want to have some hits from from Glamberts...

Anonymous said...

They're not looking for hits from Glamberts. They had over a dozen names on their list. It's just the magazine having fun with an idea from Dave Grohl mentioning somebody covering a Nirvana song for a gig associated with his documentary on Sound City.

I don't think they will ever do it.
Quote form Dave:
He added: "The thing is, it's sacred ground. If we were ever to do something like that it would have to be right because you want to pay tribute. There's a reason Foo Fighters don't do Nirvana songs, and it's a good reason."

LOL. If you thought some Queen fans got upset.....

IF .... ADAM was to sing with Nirvana ... he would do it in a complimentary & respectful way as a tribute to Kurt C. ... not try to sound like Kurt ... just as he did with QUEEN as a tribute to Freddie ... ADAM would bring his own style to the music ... not try to copy or imitate .... IMO

If anyone could, Adam could..nice that they mentioned Adam, it means that he is on people's radar as a talented entertainer. Everyone in music knows he wouldn't copy anyone, he is too talented to do that..

I am with 11:21 Adam is his own performer. He has his own concert band and he is a single artist. That is like Josh Grobin joining Queen come on. Why throw Adam under the bus. He is a rising star. Slow in the states due to radio play however people still buy his records and want to see him in concert. That may be Adams bread and butter. The radio is only playing around 10 aritist in the Pop world anyway. He is not the only one that is being discriminated against by Radio Stations. It is bull-crap..but I hope slowly but surely it will get better. A lot of talent not only with Adam but other artist are going to waste. Adam has a huge fan base to sustain his march forward in the music industry. We can't ever give up!
