That was a stellar duet performance with Adam and Angie. He let her shine on that stage without overpowering her vocally. It was the perfect song. Adam didn't even need an introduction. As soon as he sang those first notes, you could hear the audience reaction. No need for lip synching, pre-recording, dancers, etc. to give the best performance of the night (along with JHudson and Candice). It was so good to see him looking relaxed and so handsome. And leave it to Adam being the classy guy that he is to give kudos to Angie for her performance. I hope she realizes what a lucky girl she is.

@10:51 couldn't have said it better myself. Adam is the sweetest kindest most talented man in the world!I keep watching the duet over and over, chills every time!

AI had the lowest number of views with this finale than any other Finale. This year 14.3 million last year 21.5 and the demogaphic rating was down 44%. This is not a surprise to me since viewing was down all year. I thought the whole show was good on thursday. AI is going to have to reinvent itself to stay in the ball game.

I think Angie has star quality. Haven't seen any other of her performances but based on this duet she seems talented and she's only 16. Maybe jealous people voted her out. That's how it usually goes.

Well at the end of the day. I think this, Adam doesn't care about all the naysayers, or read the comments from some who get riled up that he wasn't treated well etc but he does read the reviews so he will be very, very happy with all his reviews of the duet. so job well done.
I loved the duet also, it was very sweet and perfect harmonies.

I've got the duet on repeat too....I watch it several times a day. I've been giving the video hits on many different media sites but if Adam's mgmt. wants us to give the official video hits/likes I'll concentrate on that for sure.

It was a beautiful duet and Adam is the most generous duet partner an artist could wish for b/c he doesn't try to hog the spotlight. He understands it's not all about him but to give the other artist the spotlight. He is a genuinely kind soul and that's why I love him so much.

The ratings were low for the finale, but don't know how many people knew Adam would sing, plus I bet lots of people turned it off after Adam. It's not been a good year in general for AI,they need to revamp and get some really good judges next year.

Great finale review by one of my favorites, Michael Slezak, includes this bit on the duet:

* If that wasn’t enough for you, how about Angie, at the piano, lilting along to “Titanium,” and then the camera pans and there’s ADAM LAMBERT!? I loved the aching restraint the duo showed as they slowed David Guetta and Sia’s high-octane dance hit into an inspirational ballad. Adam, who we know from “Slow Ride” (take it EEE-ZAY!) is a generous duet partner, really allowed Angie to set the tone and grab more than her share of the juicy parts of “Titanium” — as it should be considering this is Angie’s season, y’know? (I did love when both of ‘em unleashed in the final moments, though…good stuff.)

I'm so grateful of all the positive articles about Adam's performance last night. But my heart aches every time I watch the whole thing on my DVR from when Ryan introduces Angie to sing Inseparable until the end when they leave the stage.

IMO when you have two seasoned artists on same stage, you don't pimp one without giving any acknowledgement to the other. Adam worked way harder than Jessie J and they both appeared in public eyes at the same time, 2009. If numbers and $$$ and awards are determination of ones' character and importance. Then we live in a screwed up world.

Ryan should have given Adam some acknowledgement as well. Even Rolling Stone called out to American Idol for dissing Adam on stage again.

That duet was best moment of AI12.

Anonymous said...

5:44, Angie didn't sing Inseparable. Candice and JHud did that duet. You have no way of knowing who worked harder. I'm tired of so called Adam fans making Adam and other fans look bad by continually slamming and disrespecting other performers. There is no need for that. There is plenty of success in the world for more than one famous singer. It only hurts Adam in the long run to continue to complain and run down other people. Once again, this wasn't supposed to be the Adam Lambert Show.

Anonymous said...

@5:57PM Ooops!!! You're right! My mistake! Yes, Titanium. Before my comment, I was reading an article about how Natalie Cole was upset for not getting any acknowledgement for her song on AI.

This is...@May 17, 2013 at 5:44 PM

Anonymous said...

@5:57PM You apparently didn't get my point. I'm not putting down anyone. I'm talking about fairness. Adam isn't AI contestant anymore. He is a seasoned artist. He has four years or work experience in the industry as a public figure and before Idol he wasn't living in a shack in a boom dog town. He worked his ass off since high school. He is a known artist as, ADAM LAMBERT. Everybody know him. He deserved an acknowledgement last night and even Rolling Stone mentioned that he got dissed AI again.

BB, it's the unfair treatment. Ooops again! I forgot we are talking about USA, capitalist country. Where everything measured by numbers and $$$$. The same things that eventually will endanger freedom and democracy in the future.

Rolling Stone article:

Angie Miller sang David Guetta and Sia's "Titanium" with Lambert, followed by the long-promised duet with Angie's personal hero Jessie J, who was sporting a bald head for cancer awareness, on the song "Domino." The good news: Jessie J invited Angie to the U.K. to perform Angie's forthcoming single in concert. The bad news: They got Adam on stage again and didn't let him talk.

Inspite of not getting more of an acknowledgment from Ryan, Adam must be happy about all the positive reviews he received for the duet with Angie. He is truly a classy guy and let Angie show her powerful vocals. It was her performance and Adam certainly let her shine. He will only gain more fans from watching this duet. For me, it was the highlight of the show and Adam should be very proud. Hopefully we will see a duet in his new album or even one with another performer on his/her album. Adam is always complimenting an artist's new song or album; now it's about time that he gets some of that love back at him.

Anonymous said...

6:15, there is probably no point in trying to discuss things with you based on that last paragraph but here goes.

You have no idea how hard Jessie J has worked or what she has endured in her life either. Saying Adam worked harder is unfounded and disrespectful to Jessie J. Regardless, that is not the basis for being a guest performer on the finale. The focus is supposed to be on the contestants. None of the guest performers got much of an introduction or talked much at all.

As to the Rolling Stone comment, that does not say Adam was dissed. You are reading through your narrow fan glasses. All they said was Adam didn't talk much. Like me they would have liked to hear more from Adam but they do not say it was disrespectful of Adam.

If you are throwing articles at me to prove your point, try this one from Slezak at TVLine, the guy that has reviewed every season of American Idol:
"as it should be considering this is Angie’s season, y’know?"

Anonymous said...

@6:56PM It was Candice's season too (BTW she won AI last night) and JHud got accolade by Ryan and Candice. It was Kree's season too (Runner-up), Keith and Randy got praise from Ryan. Why then ADAM LAMBERT should get only Adam from Angie (3rd place finalist) and always a whisper kind of mention by Ryan. I still stick to my opinion that Adam was unfairly treated on stage last night on national TV. This is only my opinion and I'm not putting down anyone. Just stating a fair treatment.

Anonymous said...

Try the whole quote as to why Adam shouldn't outshine Angie.

Adam, who we know from “Slow Ride” (take it EEE-ZAY!) is a generous duet partner, really allowed Angie to set the tone and grab more than her share of the juicy parts of “Titanium” — as it should be considering this is Angie’s season, y’know?

Anonymous said...

I did not watch Idol much this season but Angie by far is the best and she should have won. She like Adam has something special....the so called "it" factor. Candice and Kree are both lovely with nice voices but they are also quite bland. Adam tweeted that he liked Angie the best and he got to sing with her so I think he was happy.
Adam to be fair got wonderful reviews from the press for his understated duet whereas JHud got a lot of criticism for her performance with Candice. So it really worked out for the best.

AI was using Adam as usual to get glamberts to make them more popular. They think we're to dumb to know when we're being used.

8:12 PM Of course all the guest stars they have on Idol are intended for fans to tune in. They want JLo's fans to watch as much as they want Adam's fans to watch. Did you ever think maybe it has something to do with they love Adam too? We know Michael Orland loves working with Adam. Maybe Idol keeps having Adam back because they love him and us tuning in is just icing on the cake for them.

glitzylady said...

@Anon 8:12 PM
I disagree with your assessment of why Adam was on the show, but you have a right to your opinion certainly. I seriously doubt American Idol invited Adam to sing just so they could get some "Glamberts" to watch. Your assumption is certainly unfair to Adam as well. The "hard core" fans amongst us who watched Idol to see Adam sing would hardly raise the viewer percentages to a significant degree to be honest. We're talking millions upon millions of viewers of Idol in total. You are forgetting that Adam was hugely popular on Season 8, and not just with his "Glamberts" (of whom I am one..). I'm sure there were many long time Idol watchers who were very pleased to see and hear Adam sing on Idol again. The reviewers that I've read certainly were. I suspect very few people beyond the loyal fans even knew he'd be on. Adam is one of American Idol's most successful contestants and in addition, he also expressed interest in Angie from the beginning. I prefer to believe that, instead of being invited as a ratings booster, they thought Adam would be a fabulous duet partner for Angie..AND he is still very much loved and respected within the Idol crew. I feel that it was an honor for Adam to be invited to duet with Angie, to be considered one of the successful "A-list" artists who duetted and performed on the Finale. I've watched the entire season for the most part, and I would have watched the Finale with or without Adam. (But am thrilled that he WAS on) I don't feel "used" at all. And I doubt that many, indeed if ANY, of Adam's other fans feel that way either.. Correct me if I'm wrong... You certainly have the right to feel the way you do. But I am just immensely proud of Adam for being on the show once again and doing the wonderful job that he did. I'm also extremely happy and excited for him, that he was able to be on Prime Time American TV, and additionally world-wide, once again. And lastly, to be such a gracious and perfect duet partner for Angie. Everyone won that night: Idol, Adam, Angie and we as fans. Win/win/win/win......

Anonymous said...

@6:56
Most people on here are not putting down the contestants or other guest stars. What we are saying is that Adam was not shown the same level of respect that Jessie J was given. If you can't see that, then you really need to watch it again, it went over your head.
Rolling Stone said that "They got Adam on stage again and didn't let him talk", they meant that Jessie J was given the chance to talk, and interact with Angie and Ryan, was Adam given that same courtesy? No he was not!!!!

Anonymous said...

Oh no, I have the ignorant and incorrect opinion that Jessie J was treated better than Adam, the most specialist singer ever and if you disagree you are WRONG, so I am going to tweet my displeasure to Adam and Angie and American Idol and leave my comments about the horribleness of this snubbing on reviews and blogs and Adam will love me for that and next time American Idol will let Adam do a mini concert in the middle of their show.

Anonymous said...

As Adam said it on his interviews that his exposure to music world of celeb. feels like high school. Only popular ones get all the attention and some of us or most of us saw it or witnessed it on TV last night happening to him on Idol. Our hearts as his fans ripped into pieces.

But all the accolades and praises of media about the performance was like a balm to our broken hearts.

Watched whole show . . .first time since Season 8 . .and we know why I watched . . not taking away from Candice and Kree but when they sang . . it was too much for my head . .but when Adam and Angie sung it was beautiful . .maybe because it was a short version and maybe I'm bias . . but BEST PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT (Kara quote) and I think Kara was one of the better judges...

Seems like general public liked JJ performance more than all other performances. A&JJ AI perf. video has the highest view counts under AI youtube channel. Then it's Candice and JHud video. Then Mariah's video. Then Adam and Angie.
