Adam Lambert Glams Up "Idol," Debuts at No. 1

While Adam Lambert didn't make his sexuality a major talking point while competing on "American Idol" -- he later came out in a "Rolling Stone" cover story -- "Idol" viewers and fans at home knew there was something special about the flamboyant contestant. Lambert was out in his personal and professional life well before he hit the "Idol" stage and made his mark as the contestant to watch. On the show, he fired up audiences with his glam rock stylings, sexed-up stage persona and multi-octave range. Though he finished the 2009 season of "Idol" in second place, he remained the season's breakout star and has since worked to become a role model for LGBT teens. His major label debut album "For Your Entertainment" earned him a Grammy Award nomination for the No. 10 Hot 100 hit "Whataya Want From Me," and his sophomore set, "Trespassing," debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2012. -- Keith Caulfield Source: Billboard

I love this interview because it says so much in such a short, to the point way. Adam makes it clear what his dilemma is. Too gay. Too straight. To whatever. I wish everyone who doesn't get him or who says they don't LIKE him, would listen to this interview and gets an idea of how he feels. He is non-threatening, kind, patient and well-spoken about the subject. So many people seem to have this "ewwww" response to him, but this shows just the opposite. I really like how he expresses himself.

Adam is Number One in the Greatest Gay Moments in Music! What a wonderful recognition of the truly amazing groundbreaker that is ADAM!

Love the comments above. And all these "baby steps" make for one huge jump in gay acceptance. Adam is THE perfect face for our time.

DRG, I agree, Adam expresses himself in this video in a way that everyone can relate to.

Adam isnt "too" anything, imo.
He is just him. If only people would let him be him without being labeled, it would make for a better world all the way around.
How about too human ???

12:19, the stories aren't ranked by number but Adam's story is the second one listed.

I loved this interview! Adam was natural, relaxed, non-threatening, articulate, easy to understand on all levels, spoke from the heart as he always does. Not only that, no makeup....what you see is what you get...I wish more people will see this side of Adam! Why can't people that have a negative opinion of him see and hear him speak....he makes his point so well. I love to listen to him speak almost as much as I love listening to him sing! Great job Adam! Live your life the way you want to....

because people in their narrow minded ignorance refuse to give the guy a chance..that is one reason I want him on AI..people will have a chance to see and hear him as he is naturally..I really feel it is a balancing act for Adam..he is young, very sexual, loves the party life..and yet he loves his family, children (other people's) and friends..he is a very special person that I hope remains in the public eye for many years to come..

Yes exactly 2.50pm that is why I would like him to do idol to, to reintroduce himself to the fans who may have strayed a bit and also to a new lot of younger people who may follow idol. Its just the flack that I know will come with it that I wont like. But hey that's nothing new, Adam can handle it.

CT, sorry didn't realize the two posts were yours. Anyway, good points.

Yes, being a judge on AI would get people to see the Adam that we see but they never do. His personality and everything else about him. It would have to have a positive impact on his career. Keeping fingers crossed.

Watching this video, I'm falling in love with Adam all over again. I hope it's okay to be safe sometimes and adventuresome other times. Who says we can be both and do it on our own terms. I find consistency boring. Change it up as the feelings change.

Typo, it should read
Who says we can't be both.....

Adam looks so amazing and sounds so amazing! He has been saying the truth since we first met him. Gay people are not all alike. Adam really does not want to blend in. He likes being fierce, dressing the way he wants, looking the way he wants to look, and just being Adam. That may not be like your next door neighbor. So what? He's still a nice guy - just better looking and a lot cooler. Oh yeah, and he probably will have a boyfriend at some point. The world has to get over it. Please never change for anyone Adam. You are perfect!

Like Adam said, "There is no easy answer." In a perfect world everyone would be free to be who they really are without judgement, but there still is a long way to go for society, gay or straight. Hopefully he will find a happy balance professionally and personally. There's no easy answer when you want success in the public eye and live your authentic life.
