VIA John deHaas:

Short but great speech at Adam Lambert concert

I saw a little bit of the concert from a livestream signal, but it was not very good as far as the picture. The audio was better but kept on cutting in and out. So I guess I will just wait until vids are posted on this site after the concert. I didn't see any dancers or backup singers on stage, so maybe they are gone for now. It seemed to be very hot down there in Orlando and I'm sure Adam is working up a sweat giving his all to the crowd. I know he performed Outlaws of Love in the reggae style, Shady and Pop that Lock. That's about all I heard.

Adam's speech was heart-warming. His message is so loving and inclusive. This has always been Adam's mantra. I find it so hard to believe that such a wonderful man has had to fight so many obstacles in life. I remember Adam saying he was playing a biblical character on stage (Is Anybody Listening?) and he was chided by his "boss" for coming to work in eyeliner - that some of "the people" were worried about it. He only wore make-up to practice, not at performances. I can only imagine how degrading that was for him. I'm sure there were many such incidences, but Adam's talent always won out and he got rave reviews. I do think Adam was held back because of his orientation. Why was he not one of the stars of Wicked? I think he only "filled in" a couple of times and was mainly just in the chorus! I saw him in Wicked on you tube and he was fabulous! On a more positive note, Adam has more fans than ever, over 2 million on twitter and gaining every day! His star is definite rising!

Adam just makes me feel good. To me, that's what being a fan is all about.

Adam's Equality Speech was just enough to show how much he cares - but not too much to overwhelm his audience. Adam is the master at getting his point across.

These shows are light 'summer festival' type shows and I love that he connects with people at these shows, being so close to the fans. Can't wait for Adam's next CD and major worldwide tour afterwards with the full glam attire, dancers, great lighting and props, etc. Two different types of shows, but love them all.

Wow! Good fiery speech Adam with your sexy voice. Hey sing-talk, talk-sing is slowly eking out a reality. I like Adam's speeches, short but clear as a bell. You can give a sermon if you want, Adam; we won't fall asleep but neither would we pay much attention because we'd probably be focusing on oooh-la-la, what a sexy preacher in the pulpit. lol! Yea see, I knew Adam wouldn't mind if we delved a little on matters related to God. I was pretty surprised at his mention of God followed up with whatever you call it. Yea seems to fall in line with my pragmatist approach about God. Hmm, some telepathy there; I was dragged into this long drawn-out argument just last night and now Adam is reiterating the same words, God, love, acceptance. These seemingly easy words can move mountains.

Great little speech. Cool that he addressed the subject.

I remember that Adam said somebody said something about him showing up for rehearsal in makeup or nail polish but I don't remember it being mentioned where that was. I don't think being gay held him back as there is a large number of LGBT people in theater.

He didn't 't get the lead in Wicked because he couldn't act as well as the leads. Sing yes, act no.

3.03 He didn't get the lead in Wicked because he didd't have a big enough fan following. That is one of the reasons he tried out for Idol. If he didn't make it to the top in Idol he would at least have more more exposure to the general public. In the theatre they do not have un-known actors/singers play the lead except if they are know in other fields movies etc.

He left Wicked because he wanted a recording career AND because he was going to be stuck as a chorus boy in plays.
Many of the stars in the theatre never become names outside of Broadway. Brad Dourif, Michael Urie, Kristine Nielson, Amanda Plummer, Zachary Levi, Rafe Spall, all in leading roles presently in NY theatre.
