Fox confirms 'Glee' moving setting exclusively to NYC

At a TCA panel Monday afternoon, Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly confirmed plans for the remainder of this season of Glee to be set entirely in New York.

The move has been rumored for a few months, but this marks the first confirmation from the network. Reilly also confirmed once again that next season, the show’s sixth, will be the last for the musical comedy.

When it comes to cast breakdowns for the big New York move, Reilly wasn’t specific, but seemed to own that there would be shakeups. “Some are going to be graduating and moving; creatively, it would be ridiculous that everybody moves to New York,” he said. “There will be some that will graduate and move on and they’ll arc back in when we do special episodes. They’ll always be a part of it… But for this season, there will be a graduation, several of the cast members will move on and a few others will go to New York.”

This move has been longed for by a large contingent of the fan base for quite some time, and it’s encouraging to hear that a few more McKinley High alums will head out east instead of just leaving the program. Who do you hope sticks around and joins Rachel, Kurt, and Santana?

We know Adam has two more already filmed.

Hope we get news that he is in more of these NYC-centric episodes.

Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly says some of the cast will be graduating and moving on as showrunner Ryan Murphy has some "fantastic ideas" for the sixth and final season.

Fox entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly on Monday confirmed plans for the remainder of Glee's fifth season to be set entirely in New York.

Following his executive session at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, Reilly again confirmed that season six will be Glee's final season and will shift to New York when the Fox musical returns from its hiatus Feb. 25.

"We do have it through next season, and that will be its final season," Reilly said, noting that showrunner Ryan Murphy has pitched an arc through the end of season six. "He's got some fantastic ideas on what we're going to do next year for the final year."

As for what the remainder of season five will feature, Reilly confirmed that the series will go "exclusively" to New York for the second half of the year while some students at the Ohio-set McKinley High will graduate this season.

"Some are going to be graduating and moving; creatively, it would be ridiculous that everybody moves to New York," he said, declining to provide specific details on which characters will be making the move. "There will be some that will graduate and move on and they'll arc back in when we do special episodes. They'll always be a part of it. The way it's going to dovetail next season, we'll see some familiar faces coming around in some capacity. But for this season, there will be a graduation, several of the castmembers will move on and a few others will go to New York."

Among those who likely will make the move are Jane Lynch's Sue Sylvester, with the executive noting that the teachers -- including Matthew Morrison's Will Schuester -- will fit in the same way on the series. "As long as there's a show, there's Jane," he said. "We're not going to be in Ohio anymore the rest of this season."

Also unclear is what will happen to the underclassmen of New Directions, including series regulars Marley (Melissa Benoist), Ryder (Blake Jenner) and Unique (Alex Newell).

The news comes as producers continue to reshape Glee following the death of leading man Cory Monteith, whose Finn Hudson was poised to wind up romantically paired with Lea Michele's aspiring Broadway star Rachel Berry.

Adam on GLEE info - Episode #9, 2-25-14, Frenemies - Episode #10, 3-4-14, Trio. We know he is in both of these. Episode #11, 3-11-14, City of Angels. This one is mostly about New Directions, so he may not be on this one. After that comes the 100th Episode Special, which is a two-parter, and will air on 3-18 & 3-25-14. Don't know if Adam will be included in this one. That is all the info a available at this time. Haven't seen any tweets from any cast members that there is filming going on right now.

Yea looking forward to Elliot episodes in Elliot's apartment. Mmm some Elliot luurve scenes will spice things up a bit; lol! I'd like to see some Adam goofiness, I've always viewed him as a bit goofy. Perhaps I understand better now, why he reminds people not to take him too seriously because he's by nature goofy. lol! He makes me laugh quite a lot especially on the Divas acts, promos and bloopers. I still watch those and still laugh; especially the spraying of his throat with that ubiquitous squeaky gadget, gets me to the bones. lol!

@Lam-my I think Adam would like to be known for his sense of humor as much as anything. But it's hard to get by his riveting looks and vocal talents to get into his humor.

OT I was watching the Bachelor on ABC tonight and there was a commercial for a new show called Mixology. I all of a sudden hear a familiar song and Adam's voice saying COMEON,it was the LMD. Just a few seconds of it but I got so excited!Made my night for sure!

7:20pm He is funny when he performs Cuckoo. I remember when he performed it on PLL, there were tons of tweets from PLL viewers how much they loved that performance. I voted for it to be next single after BTIKM. I remember when he did his radio promos how much he wanted Cuckoo to be the next single. Oh well, water under the bridge. He moved on and so should we. I'm ready for whatever Adam has gotten under his sleeve for 2014. Look forward to watch him on Glee and his appearance as a judge on Ru Paul. I believe he has couple of charity concerts too.

I hope we get to see a pic of Kelly and Adam at George K's book signing. All three seem to be friends and support each other in their projects or events. Since GLEE will spend more time in NYC, I wonder if we will be seeing more of Elliott/Adam storylines. How many more will they be shooting before the season ends? I don't see how they can transfer both Will and Sue to NYC. Personally I have had enough of Sue's cruel, harsh, vengeful character and someone like her doesn't belong in a school setting even if it is on a tv show. I really lost all interest in GLEE until I knew that Adam would be on the show and I only watch it because of him. Maybe the episodes in NYC will draw me back again.

Well, I just hope that the Glee episides that Adam has already taped will get such a good response that he will be asked to do more of them. The NY location is perfect for him. We need to really let the producers know that Adam is a big draw to the show.

Nice to hear that Kelly and Adam are going out together. She ADORES him.

Yea, high time Avicii releases LMD as a single with video, starring Adam, Avicci, Nile, dancers, perhaps a disco scenario. It'll sell like hot cakes. I prefer Avicii's version where there's more variation and embedded staccatos and Adam's voice is not obscured.
