Ace seems like a strange name for a beautiful hotel.

Thanx @2:51 PM :)

Charl's birthday is probably why Adam went to NYC to begin with and he got stuck there with bad weather.

I think Adam went for various reasons to NYC. Business being one of them.

The building was the United Artists Theatre, built in 1927.

Back in the 'old days' when these elaborate theaters were called 'movie palaces'.......they were a visual treat. Plus, in the 1940's as a 5 or 6 year old bored with James Cagney, Pat O'Brien gangster films you could sneak out and under the watchful eye of an usher in the lobby, slide on marble floors, roll around on velvet sofas, admire yourself in gilded mirrors and play Princess and sit in carved throne like chairs! And admission price was about 25 cents!...........JAK

@JAK you went to better movie theaters than I did. 25 Cents would pay for the price of admission, a coke, a bag of popcorn and a candy bar at the ones I attended in the late '40's.
