Isnt the tall dark haired guy that Randy introduced as one of the vocal coaches the back up singer during Season 8 tour?. I don't know about others seasons as I never watched videos of the tours. I'm too tired to look tonight, but it's been bothering me since first seeing him last night. I remember because he was tall like Adam and had a great smile.

Thanks to Randy and Keith special mention of Adam last night.

Hey Adam you are my oooh-la-la...I've been describing you this way from as far back as 3 years ago. lol! I didn't know there was such a song, heard it only last evening. The way Adam demonstrated it...sooo sexy oooh-la-la...
Adam only told the contestant singing, Roar to slow it down, which to me was a good suggestion; but somehow it was hinted by one of the judges that the arrangement was not to his liking. Adam was spot-on in his mentoring but on the whole there were no girl standouts. My bet is the winner will be a guy; will be watching them in a few hours time. Just my opinion... the panel of judges gives sound critiques but quite bland and mostly agreeable which is okay but nothing new from each individual judge; yes I know they are all outstanding in their own field of expertise. Harry Connick says high notes are like "traps"...sounds odd. I always thought high notes are for emphasis and to bring out the passion or the climax in the song. The best person to make a critique on high notes is none other than our high-note sifu, Adam; whoa, he scales them like one scales Mount Everest...no trap at all. But I know what Harry Connick was trying to get across to the contestant singing those high notes which were not convincing in terms of skill and passion...and people would still applaud, as pointed out by him. Adam as well as Angie and my S12 favourite, Amber, are high-note sifu...piercing high-note killers.

Whenever I see the title of this thread, and one previously, I have to laugh a little (and then blush..because I'm being a little naughty: must be all these years of following Adam, and his **occasional naughtiness** must be rubbing off on me :) .. because the first thing that comes to mind, isn't mentoring, when it says "Only Adam's parts". :)))

I'm waiting for the boys' night.

Only Adam's parts? I prefer all of him. :)

I haven't watched Idol since Adam was on. The show is terrible and phony. How much do they pay Randy Jackson to sit there and be boring? The judges say things that don't make sense. Adam was the only honest one. He should have had longer segments. He lights up the screen. Chris was great, too.

Anonymous said...

The judges this year are great. They are actually giving advice to the contestants.

Anonymous said...

I agree that the judges are doing a great job. Everyone might not like what they have to say, but they are trying to be honest with their criticism and advice and the audience should not be booing Harry. He is a musician; he knows what he is talking about. And with the mentoring, Adam and Chris can give advice, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the contestant will follow it(guitar v. no guitar). I like the compliment from Randy about Adam. I wonder what the judges think about this workshop concept with Adam and Chris giving their advice to the contestants. Overall, after two nights, personally I am not that excited about any of the contestants. They don't have the Adam appeal, a certain star quality that was so evident as you watched him perform each week. But time will tell as they progress on their journey to become the next American Idol.

IMHO AI SUCKS this season..only one or two people with any real talent..sick of watching Randy..what a blowhard with an ego the size of Texas,..I assume that Adam's appearances have come to an end..so I will not watch again (unless he does come back to sing)..this show has really jumped the shark..I would be shocked if the show comes back next year..Adam Lambert raised the bar so high that no one has been able to jump it since his tenure..his brief screen time was pathetic..they needed to ditch Randy and let Adam and Chris have the air time...

Anonymous said...

I watched Adam and Chris Daughtry mentor the girls and guys. This year's standard is rather low key, no standouts. So it's anybody's game. Adam and Daughtry should have been given more air time, they were a lot more interesting than the judges whose critiques were rather similar and textbook-like, not so inspiring. Adam and Daughtry sustained my attention a lot more, but given only short glimpses here and there. Most likely not following up from here. Well 13 it is, my apprehension. If they want AI to flourish, they have to take drastic effective steps. For starters, let Adam anchor the show as the chief judge next year if they are still on; because the selection process determines the tone of the show to a great extent.

5:49 left a calm, well written and reasoned comment and 5:54 sounds like they are butt hurt and ranting.

Randy has hardly had any screen time this season and complimented Adam and Chris during that time. I'm thinking this is a much better role for him than judge.

It seems some think these shows should've been all about Adam. Hello! This is American Idol where there are a lot of people involved, not just Adam.

Anonymous said...

Obviously as an Adam fan, many think that the show should have more of Adam as a mentor and even be a judge. But the general audience out there who doesn't follow Adam or his career, would probably have some of the same negative comments about him as they do about the current judges. Because we are loyal fans, Adam can seem to do no wrong and might even save Idol. I don't know about that. HC makes some constructive comments to help the contestant and he gets booed...more than once. I could image how he is feeling about agreeing to be on the panel right now. Do we want Adam in that same situation? I don't think so. Let him focus on his recording career and other projects or events and if mentoring on Idol is something he wants to do, then they should use his experience for that. I just think this group of contestants is weak; there is nothing special about any of them and I am not really invested in the outcome as I was with Adam during season 8. When you have seen and heard the best, it is very difficult to compete in a field of mediocrity and choose a winner. Sorry.

Anonymous said...

We know others are involved, that's the problem .

Anonymous said...

Both 5:49AM and 6:50AM make sensible, reasonable comments. Thanks for that. Obviously the show is not about Adam(even though we would like to see more of him) and if you don't like what is happening on Idol, there is always the Olympics.

Anonymous said...

I love Adam's parts. Fans made twitter accounts for Adam's parts. Haha...

I watch Idol off and on and try to watch finals but I just can't get excited. . . . I think the girls are better then the guys tho! this season

Anonymous said...

BTW . . .I'm so glad J-Ho covered up last night . . .

Anonymous said...

I don't think Harry minds being booed anymore than Simon did. The purpose of the show is to give young hopefuls a chance to advance a music career. Just because they don't find another Adam doesn't mean the search for talent isn't worthwhile. I could do without back stories, seeing the mentoring and make up and fashion. I would give the judges 2 minutes only to make their comment. Just let the kids sing and let the audience vote for who they like. It's a talent show, just spend time listening to them. That would shorten the endless hours, how long is it anyway? Seems like 4 hours at least!

It was great that Randy commented about Adam being great at "performance" and Keith's last remark about Adam and Chris' success. I was beginning to wonder if any of the judges would comment favorably about Adam and Chris at all. Bravo to Keith! Now let's see if JLO and HCJ give Adam and Chris a nod! Is it just me, or does anyone else think Adam and Chris should have a little more acknowledgement on the show.
Maybe on tonight's show they will get a little mention from the judges. Since Adam and Chris' segment was taped, sadly we will not get to see them perform unless a miracle happens!..... nancdruuu2

@3:16 That gif of Adam is great, thanks! Imagine seeing him stride into your room all smiling and handsome!!

Anonymous said...

9:27, I think having them on the show was acknowledgment. Out of all the past Idols they chose Chris and Adam. Keith said it last night, it doesn't need to come from each judge individually as well.

Anonymous said...

Did anyone notice? Don't think it's been mentioned yet, but loved the fact that they played a piece from 'For Your Entertainment' after Randy sent the kids off to their work shop. Small but nice nod to Adam and his success.

Is there any posting of last night's mentoring of the guys? My video didn't work right. Doesn't seem to be any posting of Wed. night's bits.

10:29, I saw one mention that someone was working on one. I'll be sure to post a link here when I see it if someone hasn't already.

Great seeing Chris and Adam on the show and great shout out by KU and the DawgFather, kind of made the show for me that I was already enjoying. Maybe Chris will sing tonight I think he has a new single out and maybe Adam can show off something down the road.

Anonymous said...

There's a link to the boys' night on the later thread. Chris is going to be performing tonight. Thursday? Hmmm. Would love to see Adam perform something new late in the season when things get more intense.

Anonymous said...

11:32 I believe the above comment said maybe Chris will sing tonight that is how rumors get started.

@10:41 PM

I hope you see this; the answer to your question regarding the tall guy with the black hair, the African American young man. I never forget a face; I kept saying, isn't that one of the contestants that was on with Adam; he left early.

I remember that he and Adam seemed friendly. he seemed very nice. I am so glad someone else remembered him too. I said how nice that he was hired by Idol in that capacity. But, he was a contestant not a backup singer; I think I am correct.

I love the tweet ~ "Let's get one thing straight, these two hours are all about Adam Lambert"! You read my mind! Right or wrong - that's how I feel as well!.....nancdruuu2

You hit the nail on the head...that was the most sexy oooh-la-la I've ever envisaged! lol! Yea "straight to the gutter" and down down down lol! I wish he had demonstrated more oooh-la-la but I must give credit to the contestant's subsequent performance, very well done too!

Emily Piriz is following the footsteps in her choice of songs of that black female contestant on The Voice two seasons ago surnamed Brown (forgot her 1st name) who was so amazing.
Two songs I first heard from Brown were the two songs I've heard from Emily Piriz: Stars and Paris Oh lala.
But the contestant Brown on The Voice is the better singer.

Emily's my top girl on Idol at the moment.
